Hum... I think the trees on this Ski Slope are totally artificial, you can control it with the voice....

I just remembered the song they sang at the end of the ep, and one of the lyrics sung by Leela was "[Santa] will kick your ass to Pakistan..." that is exactly 180 degrees across the globe to NNYC, just a thought.

The trees on the slope could have been evergreen trees, while Christmas trees are pine trees, which are extinct.

right, thats why i said pine trees are evergreens, because they are.

and since you prompted I'll go on...  Evergreens are a type of tree, a broad category, specifically trees that don't shed their leaves in the fall/winter.  and unless they added any new types of trees since i was a kid, the other type of trees are deciduous- (shedding or losing foliage at the end of the growing season).

I have two theories on this:
1) Since fans of scifi shows are notoriously fixated on consistency (or lack thereof e.g. Star Treks Chekov-Khan incident) the Futurama people have added a couple of obvious inconsistencies as an added parody of scifi shows
2) They forgot

Unfortunately, my money's on theory 2

Maybe #1 is the answer, like the whole anchovie thing. They claim they are extinct, yet they don't clone more, and Hermes was using them for bait...

I like slurm too.

the pines on the slope came before the point when the pines were supposed to be extinct...

so maybe they didnt notice this in the script or maybe its just t.v. and shouldnt be examined like this...

but it doesnt hurt i mean i know ill stop when season 4 comes...

No, no, by evergreens I mean the ones without real needles.  They have short spines and they get those blue balls on them.  You know, those?  Maybe those were on the slope and not pine trees.

Things don't get closed just because there is no answer.  They usually get closed because it has gone to hell and it is easier to close it than to edit it, or because it was crap to start out with  :D

Well thats good to know... I'll close it by saying:

Fir trees are extinct, but not all evergreen trees are. Because of the extinction of evergreens, palms were used instead. THE END.

"because of the extinction of evergreens"

Those trees crack me up. Anyway, they must be artificial.

FreeSlurmForALL, you have MY avator, I don't know who was here first, but if you would kindly give it up and leave it by the big tree near the grassy knoll that would be appreciated.

I have been staring at the TV on freeze frame for 1/2 an hour now, saying just about every combination of words that I can think of, but no such luck. Please tell me the words!

(I figured that if we revive this there might be a few more TOTP dances for Nurdbot).

I think they're artificial. All of em. Including the ones by mom's cabin. She's filthy rich, why couldn't she get fake trees if she wanted an old fashioned look? And I'll go with general concensus on the ski slope trees. They're bleeping mechanical, how could they be real.
