Where can I find issue #17! I'm at my wits end! I've tried every comic book store in my neighborhood! It probabaly won't make you feel any better to know that I have 10 copies of issue #17

It's a long story, but to cut it short, revenge And @KurtPikachu2001, I don't know about American comic book shops, but maybe Megacity Comics might ship to you from the UK, but it'd probabaly cost more than it's worth, a lot more...

I finally found a internet hotspot, so I'll be able to post every once in a while.
So anyway....
During the part of July that's past, I spent every other day in the comic book shop that is across the street from the cafe that I'm typing this, looking for the newest issue of the world's best comic. Happily, this morning, I finally found out that it's coming out on Wednsday! Horay! A fixed date is better than none at all. Hopefully, I'll be able to write a review with it when I go and get my copy! Only two days!
In the words of Homer Jay Simpson, WHOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOO!

Anyone got this yet? I was gonna order it online today from Megacity Comics (or should I say, Megashitty Comics), but they don't have it up yet! Damn it, I want it now! Anyway, to ease the waiting, anyone else got anything to say about it?...

Oooh, ooh, I do. I've only read seven pages yet, so I can't really review it, but I can tell you that they got rid of "Better Than Nothing" and replaced it with "Nominated For 12 Glorvnaxx Awards!". I guess I'll read a little more and tell you whats going on in spoilers. Well, I've read 12 pages now, so here goes; It seems like Leela has gone back to Ancient Greece. She meets Homer and angers Zeus. Bender seems to have gone back to the witch-burning age, but now it seems like they burn robots instead. And finally, Fry has gone back to World War 1, and is now a soldier. It seems like the ripples are already taking place, because the above mentioned robot burning, and the fact that the equater is a ditch, among others. Can't wait to read the rest but don't want to read too fast, since I have to wait another two months for the big finale. And by the way, the comic is 27 pages, so it is pretty long. And finally, here's a brain teaser for all you comic readers; is it a [Bold] Comic Book [/Bold] Store, or a [Bold] Comic [/Bold] Book Store? A [Bold] Comic Book [/Bold] Store would be a store that sells comic books, and a [Bold] Comic [/Bold] Book Store would be a book store that sells comics. Choose, and post your opinions! Sorry about the bolds, but I've tried to fix them once and it didn't work, so just imagine that the thingies are bolded.

Sorry to double post, but my Issue #18 review...
The main problem I had with this comic is that because the majority of it is set in the past, it lost some of the Futurama "feel". Another problem is that, as a direct result of this, aside from the first panel, over half of the Planet Express gang fail to be seen throughout the entire Comic! Professor Farnsworth, Hermes, Amy, Dr Zoidberg, Nibbler and Scruffy are all missing after the first panel, and not all of those characters are even in the first panel either! This wouldn’t have hurt this issue so much had some of Futurama’s vast amount of secondary characters made appearances instead, but of course this wasn’t possible given the nature of the comic’s plot.
Instead, a whole new range of secondary characters are introduced, most of which aren’t up to the same quality as the characters we’ve come to know and love. I’ll give that Maggot some credit though, he was pretty funny and interesting. Aside from him, I found that the other new secondary characters were more of a parody of what Futurama is about, but in reverse. Instead of pointing out Sci-Fi’s ridiculousness, whist at the same time praising it (one of the main themes of Futurama and it’s jokes), here we have the compete opposite. Instead it’s pointing out the ridiculousness of the past, especially the beliefs people had during the past, which are now thought to be stupid, let alone 1000 years from now...
All of these jokes at the pasts expense could just as easily been made now, it didn’t need 1000 years added onto the amount of time they were sent back (those 1000 extra years being between now and the year 3004). If it did, then we wouldn’t have understood or found it funny reading these jokes now (1000 years before the time which they were sent back in time). They shouldn’t have called this comic a Futurama comic, they should have titled it “Pastorama”. I personally don’t enjoy the past as much as the future, and because of this, I didn’t find the artwork (as well-drawn as it was) patricianly interesting. The front cover of this Comic has to be the worst one yet...
The main focuses of this issue were Fry, Leela’s and Bender’s stories, with a dash of Cubert thrown in. Problem is, they’re all separated from each other very early on, and as a result can’t play off each other with jokes or conversation. They instead have to rely on the mosty second-rate secondary characters...
You may be thinking I hate this issue, but actually, given it’s circumstances, I think it worked pretty well. It certainly wasn’t a failure. Although I’m not very keen on the past setting, and I think it’s a bit of a waste of Futurama’s potential being set in the future, it was still a worthy and entertaining read. Had it not been part of the trilogy/Quadrilogy, then I think it may have failed. But given the over-all story ark, it makes a refreshing (if unnecessary) change. I rate it average (because I think Futurama’s standard is generally way above average. Not complaining though, because anything is “better than nothing”*)
*Why didn’t they keep that slogan though, it fitted this issue so well!...

I'm getting my copy on Wednesday. Can anyone tell me who is responsible for the art work in this isssue? Please don't let it be John (I should learn to draw on model) Delany! I hope it's the outstanding artwork of James Lloyd.
Oh and for fans in the UK, the latest issue of the UK comics #12 was released a week or so ago. I got mine today.

I read it and thought it was great. M Jackson, how about taking a look at it before slagging on the artist. I have all the Futurama issues and while I agree that James Lloyd is brilliant, Delany deserves a lot more credit than you are giving him (there's a lot more to great comic book artwork than whether it's perfectly on model or not) BTW I think Delany is pretty consistently on model with some glaring problems here and there but more than made up for when you check out his angles, storytelling and amazing backgrounds. I think all the artists on Futurama have done a pretty amazing job of getting the characters but with the off drawings, most times it's hard to tell if it's rushed pencilling or rushed inking or a little of both. I've seen original pencils by Jim Lee that looked totally different after they were inked. Check it out, it's good!

Sorry, I know I'm too harsh on Delany. It's my problem, i'll deal with it.....I JUST HATE HIM SOOOOO MUCHHH!...
Uh, anyway. Can I take it from your post that the Art in #18 IS by Delany?

To each his own. There are so many more reasons to like his stuff IMO but if the occasional miss bothers you that much you are obviously very devoted to these characters. I've seen his work on Justice League Adventures and Dexter's Laboratory and he always seems very on model there so I'm not so convinced this is his problem alone. Anyway, yes he does do the art in this issue and I believe the next as well.

Well I've read it.
I'm not sure what I thought realy. Ignoring my hatred for John Delaney, It just wasn't that good. There were VERY few jokes. But the biggest problem for me was the HUGE plot holes. Unless I'm missing something (somebody PLEASE feel free to let me know that I am), they traveled back in time, right? So...WHY are there aliens in world war 1? WHY are there mythological characters in Ancient Greece? WHY...... I love Futurama's crazyness, but the reason it works so well usually is because the creators always keep a level of reality to it. Most CRAZY sci-fi things in Futurama have a scientific theory to back them up, or some level of reality. Or in the case of Aliens in the future, it hasn't happened yet, so it's possible "You can't prove it won't happen"
But, this comic JUST doesn't work. They are in the past, not parallel dimensions or virtual reality! Considering the HUGE potential of this TRILOGY I just wonder WHY the writers chose these locations/times.
I think at least one of them should have gone even further forward in time. It would be cool to see Leela in the same position as Fry at the start of the series, having to deal with things in a distant future, the year 4000 anyone?
Anyway, as much as I disliked this issue, Cuberts robot monkey was pretty funny, and Delaney's art was probably the best HE has done so far. Sure, faint praise but he's getting there...slowly.

Thanks to Bendo. M Jackson, I had the same problem intially, but I thought the mystery would reveal itself in issue 19. But what Bendo says makes sense. It must be Farnsworth's influence on te time line that is changing everything. And I bet the Greek Gods are as SlackJawed said...(cue musical sting for effect)...ROBOTS!

Time travel and the effects it can have on the events which follow, can occur from even the smallest things, and make the biggest differences. The opening text; "Boned to the Future" is a parody, and even has the same typography! as "Back to the Future". Anyone who's seen those movies will know how much things can change...

M Jackson, I don't purport to know all the answers but I am sure all will be revealed in issue 19. Delaney makes reference to the conclusion on how it wraps up and how Cubert feels about that. RM

Hi, just registered and wanted to say hey. Glad those of you that liked the comic liked it and those that didn't... um... I wish you nothing but good health.
Quick comics trivia. Cubert was the last boy on Earth in that comic and he had a monkey. I gave him the monkey as a tribute to another comic book with another person in a similar situation. Can you name the comic?

Hi Ian, i'm afraid I don't know the answer to the question, but i'd like to say how much I enjoy your work.(with the exception of the latest issue, it just wasn't my cup of tea) I thought that the crossover comics were great.
I hope that the comics continue for a long time. I don't suppose you know if there are ANY recent developments in trying to bring back the TV series? I know it's been asked a BILLION times, but i'd heard a couple of rumours so I just wondered.

Hi M Jackson. Sorry you didn't dig the last one but stay with us for one more ish. It all makes (kinda) sense. All I know about are the comics and those should keep going for a good while.
And Action Jacktion, nope, it's a modern comic. You got the publishing company right though.
