Actually, I read somewhere that season 4 is expected to be released in October. But I'd guess August or September, following last year's releases.

Listen, I know sarcasm. That's like saying, "The government officials have the wellfare of the citizens in mind when they raise taxes, just like FOX loves Futurama."
Getting that finger-twitching feeling again Fred?...

That news was old news. This thread will become busy when the box set features et al are actually released, in case you R1s get something new.

Region 1:
Season 1: March 2003
Season 2: August 2003
Season 3: March 2004
Season 4: Fall 2004

Come on! Stop tempting me, zoidbergrocks! We haven't even gotten season 3 yet, and you're worrying about the fourth season already! [cries]
Question: Volume 4 has only 3 discs, right?

Why do they need to be on four discs? They could fit it all on one disc. I mean there are a lot of movies out there with "over 10 hours of extra footage" on one disc. They just want to make it cost more.

Stop rubbing it in! We don't even have season 3 yet and you people are talking about season 4. Patience is a virtue.

king of queesns season 1 has 11 episodes per disc! plus extras! they could put all of season 1 on 1 disc

Futurama having 4 discs makes it look cool. Besides, if you put too many episodes on one disc the sound and picture quality will drop. So they have to put as many episodes as they can and still retain the excellent sound and picture quality. Also if you put like 11 episodes on the disc, where could you put the commentaries? There would be no disc room at all.

i wasnt pitching it as an idea, when i saw that it had 11 eps per disc I was disgusted! They dont have scene selections, special deatures, commentaries, or even a nice format

When a movie DVD says "Over ten hours of extra features", they are almost always counting a 2 hour commentary in that total, sometime two commentaries. Besides, more discs means more artwork, and a bigger outside box, so more artwork there as well. Also, as has been said the quality of sound and video would drop if it was all compressed onto one disc.

Family Guy has 7 episodes per disc. If Futurama had that, there would be one less disc in each set, thus making it easier to watch more episodes.

Futurama has comentaries on all episodes. Family Guy doesn't. All that audio takes up space.

Im guessing S4, R1 will be pretty much like R2 except the artwork will be compressed, other special features, and some other stuff

Aside from packaging and formatting (NTSC/PAL), is season 3 the first that differs from R1 to R2, with the new menus?  If that is the case (as it is, to my recollection), then I would doubt that season 4 would be any different. I already has the improved menu structure.

Yeah, but Family Guy doesn't have commentary on every episode. They probably wouldn't let them do it because every other word out of Seth MacFarlane's mouth is "Fuckity fuck fuck shit shit fuck...". And who watches King of Queens anyway?

I got the first season as a Christmas gift(even though I picked it out), and then I got the second season a couple weeks ago. They both rock.

if the time between Season 1 and Season 2 are the same as Season 2 and Season 3, then we can easily predict when season 4 comes out...I'm too lazy to find out "the time"

Because our system in America is really crappy.  They need to basically make all the money they can on advertsing a particular episode before it can go to TV, Also I think there is a certain amount of times an episode can be played before it is allowed to go to DVD
