I think they actually look quite cool...I mean if they wern't I-Men figures I'm sure they would look even cooler, But I can picture these sitting on my desk in my room. But for some funny reason I don't see them getting released in Australia because I have never even heard of this I-Men figures. Oh well, I can only hope they do...If they don't ill have to import them over.

1. These are a little bigger than the Lego's I believe.
2. Don't know yet but if you get the I-Men now (Dragonball-Z) you will probably be getting these as well. Either that or they are sure to be imported.
3. You never know. If these are successful enough to do another series they might start looking at accessories for the figures. Vehicles would be very cool as well as say a news set with Linda and Morbo, or various places from Planet Express and of course the ship itself. Only way that happens though if these are successful.
They are already creating some buzz around the toy collecting community so I think these are going to be a big hit. The heads are more sculpted than the typical I-Men figures so already Toynami is putting a little something extra into it and all indications are that these will sell for the same price as their typical I-Men 2-packs.

They are scheduled to be released Spring 2004 and my guess is that we will see color prototypes by the time Toy Fair rolls around.

Toy Fair is an industry trade show that is run twice a year I believe. Actually it really is only once a year but there is a preview or pre-Toy Fair that runs in October where alot of the good stuff happens. The 'real' show occurs in January.
I believe this is the place where toy companies roll out their new stuff to one, create some excitement and also to test the waters on certain ideas with retailers. An example of this was a few years ago when Playmate Toys unvieled their Simpsons WOS Main Street playset. Retailers balked at the size and cost of the item and so it went on the shelf. Playmates kept bringing it back and thanks to the strength of the line Toys R Us went ahead and sold it as an exclusive to their stores.
You can check my site for the last two years of Toy Fair regarding Futurama stuff although at this point it is pretty much old news.

For those who care, the two packs are:

Fry and Calculon
Bender and Beezlebot
Leela and Roberto
Zoidberg and Morbo
Farnsworth and URL

Terrible choices.

I agree that the packs seem to have been coupled a bit strangely, apart from Bender and Beelzebot, which I think would be a great set and I think I may actually try to get from the US if they look good (never got any merch from the US before :P).

In order to get the good ones you have to buy the crap ones. Good marketing, bad for customers.
