Has anyone picked this up yet? It is pretty cool despite it being overpriced and much smaller than what I had originally thought it was going to be.

The graphics both on the box and the gun itself are great, although I still like the original mock up graphics for this better. There is a cool little membership card included in the box as well which I thought was a nice little detail to add in. The sparking action actual sparks! :)

So, has anyone picked this up yet or seen it in stores? I am wondering if this is going to be an online only thing similar to the last Rix Tins stuff. At least I never saw either the Slurm can or the trash can in any comic book stores. Like I mentioned before it is a little pricey and it would be nice if Futurama stuff wasn't so expensive.

I think it looks like a toy for children under 5 years of age.

This is one of those Futurama products that I can't quite justify buying for the current price. And even for me, it's probably a bit young. But I just know i'll kick myself in a few years when it's the only Futurama product I don't have and they're all out of stock!
Decisions, decisions...

M Jackson, I totally know how you feel. I wish stuff was a little less expensive but on the other hand I like to think I am doing my part to show support for not only Futurama but the merchandise as well. If people wait until retailers are forced to discount them before buying them retailers are less likely to order any new Futurama products because their preception is that Futurama doesn't sell and I have to discount them tremendously just to break even.

On the other hand, this like the tin wind-ups are sure to come down in price in a couple of months. Although, since I have not been seeing them in too many places it is always possible they underrun the production on them and they could be considered 'rare' in the future.
My advice as always is just to go out and purchase it. You like the show don't you? ;)

Yes I do. See my "How Much Ya Got?" thread and see for yourself.

I'm a bit disappointed with how this item looks. They could've made it really really cool, but as people have already mentioned, it just looks childish.

AJ, I totally agree with you but I think they made it look the way it does on purpose. In other words I think they were trying to make it look like a kids toy or something that may have been manufactured in the 50's. So I guess it is all part of its appeal which is this whole retro thing that Futurama seems to do so well.
If it had been a little bigger I would have liked it better but the kiche is starting to grow on me. :)

I think this item is all too pricey for it's size.

I agree but if you take a quick scan of eBay you will see that they are already being reduced to 14.99.

And then with International shipping to Sweden you add $10. that equals $25.
Here in Sweden that gives you 41.2 chocolate-bars!

I think they'll release thing in the mock up "plain" version without the Futurama sign on the box. Something around $13:

Someone mailed me that. I'll guess he works for universial fun even though he didn't say (sometimes I wish they just were upfront honest).

Yea, I had seen that item on RocketUSA's site and thought it was kind of a rip. I guess to purchase a license such as Futurama this is what it takes.
And that was not the original mock-up of the gun that I was talking about. Thanks for the pic.

It is tacky, expensive, and kind of lame, but it's a great example of what I love about the Futurama merch.

It's a throwback to the golden-age of science fiction. In the 50's it would have a very hot toy, now it's just kitch. Plus it's made out of that rare mystery substance... tin.
