Play think season 4 is released on september 1st!

Play is evil, everybody knows that!

Besides, have you seen how often they changed the release date for the Simpson Season 3 DVD? (So far, four times...)
September, 1st, would be nice, but that just sounds too good to be true...

I wonder why they bother putting a realease date though. They must have got it from somewhere, mustn't they? Or is it just to encourage you to order it now?

well they say there are 72 episodes total including all aired and unaired episodes there are:
13 in season 1
19 in S2
22 in S3
which means there should only be 18 in season 4

I'm not so sure. Amazon.co.uk doesn't has the Season 4 listed yet. Besides, like I mentioned before, the constant shifting of release date for the Simpsons doesn't make Play a reliable source.

Ok. I know when season 2 is coming out(August 12th, better save my money!), does anyone know when S3 is coming to the U.S?

I would guess Dec 2003 or Jan 2004. I couldn't wait so I picked up the Region 2 release of Seasons 2&3. It's well worth the money if you have a region-free DVD player.

I'm still hoping Season 4 will become available this year. Then my collection will be complete!

Yes, but they appear to have free shipping, which amounted to about a quarter of my purchases from Amazon.co.uk. Any idea if the shipping is free to the US?  :)

However, I too wouldn't trust that release date. We may only have to wait a few days until TCFHE UK posts September release dates (they're up through August now).

USA: S3 February 2004
USA: S4 August 2004

Everybody knows when S2 will be out.

IMHO they're fine for ordering DVDs that you aren't desperate to get your hands on, as stuff can take (by UK 2nd class) up to a week to arrive (depending on day of order).

They havent even gone through the british censors yet. Wait until their online database has them passed, after that it will be a couple of months til its in stores.

disregard anydate as rumour and baseless until this happens (at least that is what I am doing)

I think they're assuming it will be a 12 certificate overall, like the other three.  On a little side note, I can't believe that Futurama is rated 12 by the BBFC - according to their (simplified) rules, if "f*ck" occurs once, that pushes the rating up to a 12 *not* a 15, so why should Futurama be a 12? I guess it's the combination of the times they say ass or something.

Plus, references to sex, masturbation, drugs, violence, stealing, gender bending, and prostitution, may have something to do with it. Not that i'm complaining, I love these elements of the show. But it's fair to say that Futurama ain't a kids show.

Well, the BBFC is churning them through now. The following have gone through (sorry for the all caps, it is just a copy & paste job for most):
- PENCIL TEST SEGMENTS
- SEGMENTS OF 3D MODELS FROM ROUGH DRAFTS
- DISC 4 DELETED SCENES
- ANIMATIC FOR OBSOLETELY FABULOUS
- EASTER EGG TABLE READ FOR THE DEVIL'S HANDS ARE IDLE PLAYTHINGS
- DISC 2 DELETED SCENES
- DISC 1 DELETED SCENES
- DISC 3 DELETED SCENES
- EASTER EGG STAR TREK PANEL DISCUSSION

Anyone know what the Star Trek Panel could be?

Perhaps the Star Trek cast discussing something during the time WNFHGB was being recorded?

Table read for Devil's Hands, this may well be the best extra on the set.

The extras are true. Even the idiots at TCFHE UK wouldn't pay to have stuff certified by the BBFC if they weren't going to use it. Each one of those items listed when you search the BBFC had a minimum cost of GBP96 I believe (Americans - that's USD155.26. Australians - that's AUD234.18. Europeans (other than UK) - that's EUR134.89.).
The BBFC has an average turnaround time from date of submission to final OK with certificate of about 21 days according to their Website's statistics. They also say they'll try to accommodate the company's announced release date, so expect that November date to be the one.

You lot should take a look at Doctor Who DVDs. The sci-fi show's been off the air for almost 15 years now but each story gets its own DVD release which includes commentaries, features and deleted scenes. Sometimes the extra features run into over an hour, even though they don't even sell that well. (Although this is because a small group of people who are Dr Who fans but professional engineers as well work seperatly from BBC Worldwide, who actully issues the discs.) They probably have the best extras of any TV series I've ever seen.

The point of this long and probably boring story is that although the Futurama extras are good, they could be a lot better, especially considering how well they must sell. For example, that featurette on the season 1 set could have been a lot longer. And I know who I'd blame for that........ FOX!

I agree.  Almost my whole DVD collection is Doctor Who, and I have to say, they leave Futurama  (and a lot of other things) in their dust.  Honestly, Futarama's extras package looks quite small in comparison!

There are now several cases where the discs are about twice as long as the actual feature - the feature itself being only slighter longer, or SHORTER than the extras.  There's also been at least one alternate soundtrack - production sound, isolated music, commentaries or 5.1 mixes - on every DVD.  So far the record is more than two hours of extras for a two and a half hour feature, and 4 soundtracks for one story.  Both look to be broken by the end of the year.

On top of the soundtracks, there's commentaries and production notes (standard), interviews (rare vintages ones, and newly filmed ones), location features, featurettes, raw footage and deleted scenes, clips and ENTIRE EPISODES of radio and television programmes relating to Doctor Who, CGI enhancements for special effects, totally new features, such as cartoons, that are inevitably hilarious, and finally, easter eggs!    :)

And that's just the normal ones.  There have been two 'special editions', where stories are COMPLETELY remade using new technology.

All of this for stories anywhere between 14, and 39 years old.

We Doctor Who fans are very spoiled indeed.    :p  And I make no apologies for rubbing it in!    :D

OMG! Another Dr Who fan  :D
The Dr Who DVDs really are great, and I agree that it's partly do to with the fact that a good proportion of fans are also techies (who have even gone as far as completely recolourising episodes).

Quite a lot of it is down to the fact that Dr Who was syndicated widely, and although the BBC may have cut many scenes, they remained on the syndicated tapes.

The only bad thing is I have to slowly replace my large VHS collection  :)
