So who do you think is the funniest/most entertaning/most informative/your criteria here person in the DVD audio commentaries? Both season 1 and 2. I have to say Cohen, for being the big, lovable nerd he is. He's just as obsessed with math, science and stuff as most of us Internet geeks is. Gotta love him for that. Although Susie Diether should win for her pasta maker-line alone. Also, post your favorite lines from them, or just stuff that made you laugh. From "The Deep South": (during the fall to the bottum, when the pressure squezes the hull, and right after Bender's eyes pop)Stewart Burns: "Those are references from Das Boot". lowlevel laughterRich Moore: "When that German guy's eyes exploded." Lots of laughter, particular John DiMaggio)Cohen: "Where did "Umbriel" come from Stu?" Stewart Burns: "Uhh..." Cohen: "Name." Stewart Burns: "It's one of the planets around Uranus." Cohen: "I beg you pardon!" From "Bender Gets Made": While the PE crew sits and eats, the guys talk about the upcoming moment where Elzar double-cross the PE crew, and give them a bill, after they thought the meal would be free. Apparently it's based on a true story, and David is a bit hesitant as to whether he should tell it or not. David: "Do you think I can tell the story it's based ... or not?" Matt: "Well, just leave out the name of the restaurant." David: "Oh, okay. This is based on a story told to my by a writer of the Simpsons, who was at a famous restaurant, with about 10 people. Some of them had met the chef before, so the chef took them to a private room and said "you know what? I'm going to take care of dinner tonight. You just leave everything to me. You don't have to order." So they bring in dish after dish, food came flowing into the dining room, they ate like kings. He said it was one of the best meals he had ever had in his life; champagne, vine, cigars and stuff like that, and then at the end when they were about to leave the check showed up, to their surprise, since they thought he was treating them. And the check was for 3500 dollars." Matt: "Well, uh, the operating phrase there was "I'm going to take care of this." David: "It was some kind of vague phrase, ..eh.. that was actually meaning he was going to decide what they were eating, but they thought it meant he was throwing the whole dinner for them." Matt: "You know, a network executive once said to me: "don't worry, we're going to take care of you", eeh .. ehh, it was the same thing!" *laughter*

Gotta go with Dimaggio.
Although Billy West talking in his Zoidberg voice on disc 2 was great.

Hmm well I voted David X for most entertaining but for most informative I would have to vote Christopher Tyng, particularly for his contribution in The Problem With Popplers.

The very beginning of the commentry of "Put Your Head on my Shoulders" always cracks me up But also the commentry for "A Bicyclops Built for Two" was funny It's something like "That's an Emmy award winning can of corn!" "That's an Emmy award winning butt crack!" But Dimaggio's and West's comments are quite funny

JD owns, he's the funniest man alive! His laughter is so infectious. His Bender Scatting is fantastic, and I love it when he drifts into Billy's characters like Zapp, The Professor and Zoidberg.
DXC is a close second, and I like his "Betty Boop. What did she do for this episode? NOT MUCH!"

I like Susie Deither too. Her additions to "Big Ball Of Garbage" are cool.

Yeah, the Ronco Pasta Maker. One more good moment is Jon DiMaggio as Randy. "Hey! It's 30th Century Fox again!"

Still cracks me up that Groeining finds the fact that the Proffeser owns a machine thats sole purpose is to tell you if someone is related to you (SP3000) But Cohen wins hands down for entertainment. Foget which Season 1 ep it is where they ask Billy West what the Proffeser would sound like speeded up, an he doesnt get that they want him to take a stab at it an explains B. West:Well you'd use one of those machines to pitch shift it an speed it D. Cohen: (groans) Yeah, but what if we used the BILLY WEST machine? B.West: Eh?.....Oh (does a fast proffeser)
Also think they should do at least one bonus commentary in Character at some point....an whats this about an extra Cohen one for "Roswell.."?

Btw, welcome to PEEL, Hodgie 64!
Yup, welcome to PEEL Hodgie, stick around, try the veal. What was also in "I, Roommate" was the first appearance of JD's Randy. Randy was one of the mob angry at the loss of TV signal, and the guy who says "Hey, Calculon's back!" - he makes occasional appearances in the show. As you can tell that JD loves doing the voice. Randy's original character name was "Man in Mob". Catchy.

From "My Three Suns":
Groening: "So, David, why the X? Why is it David X Cohen?" Cohen: "You don't believe that's my real middle initial? That's a completely fraudulent adendum to my name. What happened was...when we started Futurama all of the animated shows on TV suddenly came under the jurisdiction of the Writers Guild, which is the union of tv and movie writers. And they wouldn't allow any two members to have the same name. Unfortunately some other jerk, David S Cohen, had the nerve to be in before me. So I had to junk my S and come up with some other fake initial." Billy West: "And I know you both." Cohen: "Do you know the other David S Cohen?" Billy West: "From New York." Cohen: "He's a good guy, I've met him...we've traded checks several times. (laughter) I figured X would make me the David Cohen people remembered." J. Stewart Burns: "I actually just use a J in front of my name to sound snooty." Cohen: "Boy, we're the two phoniest writers in town."
Also in "Fear of a Bot Planet" when Leela show a robot a picture of Bender dressed as a magician, David note how Bender will be a magician in an episode sometime 3 years into the future. Any ideas what episode that will be (or did it already happen)?

One bit of the Season 2 commentaries - which I've incorporated into my 'welcome to PEEL' posts - is when Jon DiMaggio says:
"I'll be here all week folks, try the veal."
Love it.

Ha! Another favorite of mine. From PYHOMS:
DiMaggio: "Malfunctioning Eddie, a great tribute to Crazy Eddie." Cohen: "Crazy Eddie, yeah, who, uuhhh.." DiMaggio: "Who's prices were insane." Cohen: "By the way, I have to add: Crazy Eddie, also known as Eddia Antar I believe, he was wanted for tax evation or something, something like that. He fled, and he ended up in Israel, and the caught him living under the name David Cohen. That's my connection to Crazy Eddie." DiMaggio: :patented Bender laugh: Groening: "Was he really crazy?" Cohen: "No. He had good taste in aliases"

I like the one on "Bender Gets made" where Cohen explains that they almost made bender and flexo swap places
Have a look at the deleted scene where Bender explains how he'll leave the mafia by changing his identiy- the serial number is Flexo's, but cohen says that they took it out as not to enrage the fans.

That's one of the things which I love about the commentaries, explaining the stories that almost happened.
Bender and Flexo swapping places was one, one of the others was the Fruit Machine in "A Flight To Remember" who was in love with the Countess.
There are more, I'm sure, but those are the only ones I remember, for now.

Cohen says in Bender got made (when leela went blind) that she goes deaf in season4, how sad would that be if it were Devil's Hands... probably will be now that I think of it
