It's not a dig at Futurama, it's a dig at Entertainment Weekly. The only reason Futurama was mentioned was because what else would a reporter from that magazine ask Stewie about? Family Guy and Futurama are basically sister shows (both started at the same time, neglected by Fox, enjoyed good DVD sales and high ratings on Adult Swim) - Family Guy having a dig at Futurama seems very unlikely.

On a side note, the Family Guy movie's out already???

Yeah, what's the deal?  Is this even real?

Edit: Nevermind, I see on another forum that it's been leaked onto the net.

My guess is it's just a dig at ET, but it could be a mean-spirited attack on Futurama; kind of a "we made it and you didn't" kind of thing (especcially since, originally, Futurama continued while FG got canned/put on hiatus.  Plus of course the digs at FG made by the staff of Groening's other show), or perhaps a general annoyance at constantly being asked about a Futurama return since FG came back.

I've given up watching this show (FG), but I believe the movie is supposed to have commentary on it....whenever this comes out maybe someone can listen to that part of the commentary and they'll explain it.

Or the fact that Futurama kicks Family Guy's ass in AS ratings.

It does, doesn't it?

It sounds to me like an attack on Entertainment Weekly.  I agree with Beamer that it's probably a ploy to get Futurama back because some Family Guy fans like Futurama, too.

I've always hated Entertainment Weekly, anyway.  So, don't take it as an anti-Futurama joke, take it as making fun of a retarded pop culture magazine that's aimed at teenage trendies.

To answer Nixorbo, Futurama has had better ratings than Family Guy many times in AS. Futurama currently holds the highest rated broad-/telecast in Adult Swim history, has beaten Letterman and Leno many times and has reached the top ten of CN's weekly broad-/telecasts time and time again more times than FG has. In short, Futurama owns Family Guy in the AS Ratings Department. As of late, Family Guy has been doing better, as they have new episodes airing and a new audience thanks to its "uncancellation".

What? How can you agree with me on that, I never even SAID that, and I think that's a stupid way to interpret the joke.

Everyone is reading too much into this. It's a joke at the expense of Entertainment Weekly, nothing else. Futurama was ONLY mentioned because the reporter needed SOMETHING to ask, and a question about Futurama makes sense since the shows have been through similar things.

So, in summary, there is NO joke about Futurama here. The show's name was just used as an aid in a joke making fun of Entertainment Weekly. Jeez...

That's really mean of them to take a dig at Futurama like that.

Why would it be mean? Entertainment Weekly has shown more love for Futurama after the cancellation than any other magazine, so that was probably the joke. I'm sure if the Futurama crew saw it, they'd just laugh.

Yeah I agree with Ravenstar. I mean if you go to entertainment weekly's website, and search Futurama, they praise it up one side and down the other.

At least Futurama gets better ratings while keeping some class. If this is true, then they are just exhibiting jealousy at a far superior program.

Um, I don't think it was aimed at Futurama- where are you all getting that idea? It could have been, but I think they may have been just referring to Futurama (perhaps because they are sister shows) and Stewie beats up the reporter, making fun of Entertainment Weekly.

I was under the impression that the Family Guy movie was scraped, and instead will be adapted into a 3 parter in the actual show. :/
