I have a question about the Simpsons DVDs. I can't find the Special features. Which disk has them?

There's usually a few features on every disc in most seasons.

On most sets, though, the bulk of the special features (minus commentaries and episode-specific things) are on disc four.

If the simpsons are running low on ideas, i.e. marge and homer break up, again, take a page from futurama and write more b charater storys. has there ever been a ep. centraled around lovejoy? bumblebee man? sideshow mel?

Or even Lisa or Bart, even Maggie could use a tad bit more time in the spotlight. Lisa likes music, and i've always loved her Sax playing. Heck, I wanted to play a sax, but ended up with Clarinet, but that's not the point...

For the record, there has been an episode that focused more or less around Lovejoy.

And remember, it's The Simpsons not Springfeild that the show is supposed to be centred around. It's supposed to be about an average American family. They have gotten less and less average over the years, but that's due to the series' age, it's no fault of the writers. There's only so much you can do with an average family.

but they already established the fact the show is about more then the family. last season had a ep. centered around apu and manjula. and this season was milhouse and his family. and lets not forget about the skinner-krabaple-comic book guy ep.

Yes, but the storylines all have to involve The Simpsons somehow... and what episode are you talking about when you say last season had an episode about Apu and Manjula? While these episodes were VERY prominent in the Scully era, I don't recall seeing an Apu/Manjula episode since Season 13... Anyway, I just saw 2 new episodes, so here are my comments:

The Girl Who Slept Too Little
Eh, it was alright... I felt the storyline went too fast in Act 1, but then moved at a rather slow pace for the rest of it. Some of Lisa's scenes were pretty cute, although she felt a bit too child-like for her character at times, but I guess that was a part of the story anyway. Lacked in humour though, no real laughs from me. Overall, pretty average. Nothing too bad, but could've been a lot better.
C+

Milhouse of Sand and Fog
Once again, an alright episode. The whole Chickenpox thing seemed kind of pointless, even if it did provide a few small plot points (eg. Kirk and Luanne meeting again, Homer's trust of Marge). Either way, nice to see some Maggie material, even if it was really only for the first act. Interesting storyline with Milhouse's parents getting back together - thought they'd do it eventually, didn't expect it to be this late down the track. However, they completely abandoned the storyline once it focussed on Marge and Homer again, and the whole thing really seemed to go nowhere. Once again, an average episode, not bad but far from brilliant. Could've been a lot funnier, but it did have a few good moments. I LOVED the ending though - "Can he swim?" "What do you think?" *Milhouse falls into the water, nobody goes to help him*  :laff:

I thought the scene with Police Chief Wiggum in the tree at the end was hilarious. I'm still laughing at it over a month later.

I've been watching Season 6 lately, and, I must say, it's much better than the current form. Much better comedy and stories. It made me hyped up for the new season. Too bad we'll have to wait until November for Treehouse this year.

Hmmmm so you guys have not seen the new Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode last night? I have seen it and thought it was ok but not as good as the past treehouse episodes. I like the last story the best because Maggie was really cute as a witch.

Yep, the episode was much better than a lot of the crap they've been dishing out lately. The opening scene was definately the best part. I agree that the last story was cramped for time, unfortunately it was the one with the most potential, I think. Good episode though.

the simpsons dont bash fam guy that bad. so why did stewie run over homer in the intro for that nights family guy. i think fam guy just started a huge rivalry.

Listen to The Simpsons audio commentaries, they bash Family Guy constantly in there. eg. "Oh, another thing we went forward in time and stole from Family Guy!" There's really always been a rivalry between the two shows, I've already made my opinions on it clear in several threads here now, it's just easier to ignore it now.

The Homer appearance on Family Guy wasn't a slam anyway, just a reference.  They certainly weren't putting down Doom or Sound of Music.  It was just a reference, pure and simple.  It's actually kind of interesting how little the FG writers have "fought back" (other then some comments from McFarlane a few years ago), considering some of the Simpsons guys have been so harsh to them.

As for the THOH, gave it about a B.  Full review is on NHC and I don't feel like copying it here, but basically I really enjoyed the middle segment, thought the first was pretty good, and the final one was very uneven.

Oh, and here's both Season 7 covers:

Wow, this is the first time I've seen this thread get to page 2.

Anyways, FOX is showing reruns of older episodes, and they were hilarious. Compared to the new episodes, it seemed like a waste of money to make them. (The new episodes.)

And wasn't this week's episode supposed to be about Homer running for mayor? That wasn't even the main plot. This idea had alot of potential, but the opportunity was wasted.

You know what Matt should do. Secretly create a Futurama episode and hold up the Fox network and air it.

I totally agree with that. OR they could casually sneak in the cast as the yellow trademarked simpson color and possibly get away with it  ;) It'd be like those episodes with Ray in them, only better, way better.

I bothered me Marge fit, when it looked impossibly small, even for her standards... Also, they shoulda added Lisa getting to go the Rome at the end.. 4/5 best one I've seen this season..Slowly getting their groove back

I believe they might show Lisa going to Rome later this season, since there's an upcoming episode called The Italian Bob where The Simpsons go to Italy. Whether or not it's related to that episode is anyone's guess, but it does seem weird that they'd do two Italy episodes in one season, even if that episode was a holdover...

It is a little odd, but I'd guess they're probably unrelated, especcially since Lisa never actually went to Italy as far as we know (come to think of it I guess they just dropped it without revealing whether she went one way or the other...).

Too lazy to copy and paste my full review.  But it's a C+ roughly.  Decent humor, but the plot wasn't very good and didn't really make any sense (and it wasn't nonsensical in a good way).

Well, The Last of the Red Hat Mamas is the last Season 16 holdover to air in Season 17. The Italian Bob will be the second episode of production Season 17, with the first one being a special three-story Christmas episode (which will undoubtedly suck, like all the non-Halloween three-story episodes). If it is a partly continued storyline, it would make sense - though the description for The Italian Bob says something about them going to Italy for a sports car for Mr. Burns or something... Still, I just find it odd there'd be an episode where a character is planning to go to Italy and an episode where the family does go to Italy so close together without there being a connection between them.

I wish they'd actually do something with the relationships in the Simpsons! This is the second time this season, that they've began to do something, and then come up with a stupid non-thought out idea to make everything back to normal. Grrr...
