Come on, I need this!

Anyway, sat down and watch it. It's a different approach I could say, sort of reeks of "Let's try bamming it up to today!" but I thought they pulled it off quite well, still retaining some of the flavour - but maybe not the atmosphere...hmm...
I'll have to wait till I've seen a few more episodes me thinks...

I saw it tonight, and as I posted on another forum, I think it shows promise. It moved a little slow but then they had to reintroduce the show after ten years so, along with new characters and a new doctor so I expected that. And it's been pretty hyped up so there may be some non-die-hard Who fans watching too (what?!? sacrilege!) who may need a good intro to the series.

High point was probably Eccleston as the Doctor. IMO he managed to be funny whilst being touchingly 'human' at times, and quite fallible.

Piper was troublesome though, they didn't really make her a strong enough character until the end. That may have been part of the story but it didn't introduce her well. She seemed to spend most her time standing and staring at the weird stuff that went on around her rather than doing anything. More development perhaps?

I watched it and was fairly impressed, pity it was a one part story, the great thing about watching it as a child in the sevenries was the cliffhanger endings that gave one nightmares for the next week  :p

I watched it this morning, and liked it  :) Chris Eccleston is pretty cool  :D

Billie Piper still annoys the hell out of me, the hate is still there!

I didn't think much of the bit where Graham Norton's voice came out of nowhere when the dummies started to come alive.

Yes, it's kind of sad that the BBC screwed up the first broadcast of the first new episode of the long-awaited return of Doctor Who. Still, they say it got about 10.5 million viewers, which isn't so bad.

I see the BBC has already approved of more episodes of Doctor Who. However, it seems that Christopher Eccleston will not be coming back. Even though he did only thirteen episodes (only one of which has actually aired) he apparently won't do any more, except for a Christmas special that will air later this year.

Anyone watch the second episode...?

I loved it, I really did. There was a bit which reminded me of Futurama a lot - with the jukebox playing Britney Spears and all - and Chris Eccelston as the Doctor ... still excellent  :D

Heh I loved that the Jukebox got reffered to as an i-pod in the second episode, as well as Soft Cells Tainted Love being called classical music.

Plus even though I really like Chris Eccelston I cant wait to see whos next. Im not too sure about David Tennant cause ive never seen casanova but hes meant to be quite good. I would also like to see any other of the popular choices like Bill Nighy, Richard E Grant or especially Alan Davies but I mean come on what about Nick Frost or Bill Bailey?

The second episode was good, I still think it is a shame they aren't having multi-episode stories though.

That joke would have worked on Futurama, since it takes place only a thousand years in the future, but there just doesn't seem to be even a remote possibility that a jukebox and a bunch of records could still exist five billion years from now. And you could probably say the same thing about the human race, really.

That is a good point but I mean they did go into that idea of the Human race not really existing with "pure humans" and all.

Also looking forward to tonights episode, looks rather good, I hope they keep it up.

Billy the Fish is/was a character in Viz comic...

I really liked the 1st and 3rd ep, looks very promising.

The Pertwee/Tom Baker years still rock though.

Tonight’s episode was really good and I didn’t want it to end. I don’t know if I going to be around to watch part two of this brilliant story.

The story line was really exciting and they should kill that alien pig. I didn’t like the fart jokes because I thought it was just stupid.

Erm, the pig wasn't alien. But they shouldn't have killed it. Pathos was a nice touch here.

Next week: a Dalek! Huzzah! Can't wait!  :D

Is my memory broken, or did the Dalek in the clip at the end look smaller and quite different to the old Daleks? (I havent seen old Dr Who in quite a while)

What on Earth are talking about? He's a bloody good actor. It'll be sad to see Eccelston go, but it's his decision.

Nearly right Impy, it is Penelope Wilton.

Should be great  :D

Also, I was wondering, since the recuring joke this seas- Doctor really is-
"He's\You're an Alien!"
"Yes"
"But he's\you've got a Northern accent!"
"Lots of planets have Norths!"
-Is Dave Tennant going to be playing a Scottish Doctor  :p

But, like LLL's saying, does anyone else remember the old Doctor Who being all moralistic?
