So I was thinking. What if "The Runaway Bride" isn't the Christmas Special but another Children in Need special? Catherine Tate is usually awkwardly jammed into an existing series for a silly sketch (Lauren/Stacy Slater last year and Lauren/McFly for last year's Comic Relief). And when she and the Doctor has that "What? What?" exchange, she did seem to play it like one of her own characters. If that is the case then that means there's four months to fill with silly Doctor Who-ified CT quotes. Such as.

Lauren: Are you gay?
Capt Jack: Who dear? Me dear? Gay dear? No dear.

What fun.

I was really hoping that she would be when she turned up. The wedding dress being just the sign of a complete eccentric.
Alas, it appears if I ever wish to see Catherine as a companion I must wish for a fanfic.  ;)

I am also pleased that we got to see more of Jackie, again. I actually think I feared her death more than Rose's when she was almost dragged into the cybermen's brain-removing-room-thing, but only for a minute. Honest.

Hee, that was the same for me too. That's actually happened to me twice this series. For some reason the party scene with Cassandra at the end of the first episode made me a bit weepy too.

No, the new companion isn't Catherine Tate, I don't know what the actor's name is but the characters is called Martha Thompson. You know that girl Adi (or however you spell it) that was attacked in "Army Of Ghosts". That's the new companion.

Oh, I know that. I was just saying that, for a fleeting second, I'd stupidly hoped Catherine would be the companion when she appeared, even though it's pretty obvious she wouldn't be.  ;)

If i was asked to sum up Doomsday in two words, they would be "JESUS CHRIST!" Most of it was what i expected but i thought it would be the Doc that killed Rose. but to keep optimism, never kill a good character.
Does anyone have any pictures of the Genesis Arc?
EDIT: Oh, the actress by the very end of the episode should be told in the commentary:
Commentary
but it says Here that it is Cathrine Tate

Hah, "Doomsday" was just on tonight, and I caught the end of last week's just in time to catch the Cybermen and Daleks warping in, great episode. Goodbye Rose, I'll kind of miss you, but on to far more important matters:

THE CYBERBABE!

May or may not be pictured above.

Honestly the second it was over I jumped on the computer and just kept rewatching the scene over and over on youtube. I already really liked this episode, but she was the ultimate clincher to it. They better bring her back as his next companion or ultimate villain next season.

The Dalek/Cybermen banter was my second favourite part of it:

"DALEKS, YOU HAVE DECLARED WAR."
"THIS IS NOT WAR, THIS IS PEST CONTROL!!!! LMAO"

Possibly.

I was going through town earlier today, and this one person in town has a bus, but where the Destination would be it says "TARDIS". It was the first time I really caught it and I laughed and nobody understood it.

I live in Maryland, so the only time Doctor Who comes on at the latest slot possible on the weirdest day on Sci Fi, so I barely get to see it, if at all. I want to watch it!

Torchwood starts on UK BBC3 (Freeview/Digital) on Sunday 22nd Oct, 9 pm. There’s a trailer on the official site:

Note: the series is aimed at an older audience than Dr Who, and is being shown after the 9 pm watershed.

Having just re-watched (well, the night beore last) Rememberance of the Daleks with Sylvester McCoy (as in he's in it, not I watched it with him), it's very fucking obvious how much the Daleks have evolved when comparing them to the later (current) series.

Not sure I like it.

I’ll reserve judgement for the moment. First impression: it’s Bugs meets The X Files, with a Welsh accent.

Good to see Doctor Who back again, it is too soon to say how the new assistant will turn out, hopefully as her character develops she will become a good replacement for Rose.

A fan of the new series, though the openning episode left a few niggly questions -

Did anyone else think they heard the Doctor, on realising he had lost his sonic screwdriver at the most inoportune moment, explete the word "smeg"?

Me too!  I'm still really upset that Billie left - she had such wonderful chemistry with both Chris and David! Then again, I'm still sad that Chris decided to leave after only one season...not that I don't think David is great!

I assumed the secret is that The Doctor is not the only Time Lord left, I guess if that is correct the other one will be The Master.
