24, a great TV show in my opinion, and there's only a week before they start season 2 in the UK. So, what did you think of the last one and what do you think of the new one (when it airs)?

I think this show is worth it's own topic, it was one of the TV highlights of 2002.

I've avoided spoilers for the new series since ages ago. All I know is it doesn't start at midnight. I'm looking forward to what will hopefully be another day of misery for Jack Bauer  :D

Yea, i've avoided them, does it start at 8:00 AM?

It's a good series, but how could they have made Nina the bad person!

Did they write the second one as they went along like the first series? Because I thought that made the last half of the first season really lame. The concept would work better if they wrote a coherent storyline from the start.

I agree with Ben, while I enjoyed the first, the ending didn't seem that good, if Nina was bad why did the bad guys have her shot early on, the didn't know she was wearing a vest, I suspect the writers still considered her good when that happened  :hmpf:

24 is a okay show. I just feel they drag everything out to much! Everything happens in the last 30 seconds of a episode.

The new 24 aired a few days ago, but already they're going to re-air it this week again.

This is the 3rd show I've noticed them re-airing in ratings period... is it the "just incase you missed it" theory? Don't people own VCRs??

Hmm, if i only saw the last 30 seconds of each episode i'd be a bit confused. It's a tatic to build tension, it's how alot of soaps end (Cue the Eastenders Dun dun dun bit). If it all seemed to wrap up nicely at the end of an episode you wouldn't be rearing to see the next one.

Ninaka: In the UK after 3 or 4 episodes in the UK they showed those back-to-back on the Saturday and then the next on the Sunday. I think it is the "Just incase you missed" theory. I missed episode 1 of 24, but i got my family who saw it to tell me and saw the 'previously' bit. When they aired it on a Saturday i was happy!

I think the show's brilliant, very original and I think it was clever making Nina bad myself, I saw it coming but not very long before she was exposed as bad, rare for me.

The only problem I have with it isn't really the show, it's the fact that it was 'a revolutionary show.' Problem? Now TV execs are salvating for somethingt else that's never been done before, anything, so you got 'Boomtown' and believe me that won't be the end of it, I sense trouble on the horizon in a way I haven't since the onslaught of 'Reality TV.'

That's the problem Kryters, my point is that it WON'T be quality programming, yes 24 was brilliant, Boomtown I haven't seen so can't judge but the fact will be that quality will go downhill because it can only stand in the way of some of these 'revolutionary' shows, TV execs haven't shown good judgement in the last few years let's face it, now if 'revolutionary' stuff becomes the flavor of the year they'll simply buy up any crap they can.

"A dective show that's filmed upside down with no dialogue you say? Hmm, sounds revolutionary, that'll hook 'em, we'll buy it!" (Well.... You get the idea.)

I missed episode 1 on both occasions!! They showed the back to back episodes the same day the Queen Mother died so some poo decided to screw around with the schedules and put live news on both BBC's so everything on 2 ran 10 minutes later and I thought they weren't showing it at all and I missed it!

To this day I still haven't seen it  :(

I broke a lamp. I knew that this time it would be a good idea to tape it so I could recap myself on what has happened every once in a while. But as I was watching Murder In Mind I had completely forgotten it was on. Then I turned over to 2 and they were just saying it was on now ("now" being sevral seconds away) so I grabbed a tape, whipped out the tape that was already in the machine and flung it across the room. And it broke a lamp. But it did stop the tape from hitting a mirror. My mum was none too pleased.

Anyway disregarding my now severe head injuries I thought that it was a pretty good episode but its probably only a taster of things to come. Standard review. I really haven't got a clue of what to make of the hour. I suppose I'll just have to review the whole day in 24 weeks time.

Well, i'm not recording them (i might, but not yet) and i've seen the first two as they show the next hour on BBC3. The first hour, wow. I liked the 'I need a hacksaw' line and it was good the way they could just start the plot without needing to introduce the characters.
Since it's not the best thing to do i won't review episode 2 yet, wait till next week!

Get digital and see if you can resist not seeing what happens next. Also, i can re-watch it next week and catch anything i may have missed.

Last night Eps 3 and 4 were on back to back (seems to be the style at the moment, maybe they're making the season shorter with these movie-length episodes)... It's so involved! My dad and I are sitting there talking about it throughout the show trying to work out and keep up with the stories that are all twisted together!
Unfortunately for me, it took me no more than 3 or 4 minutes to get dinner and miss out on a part of the story. I have a blank between the guy that walked out of CTU before the bombings... to when he was found at some site where he got contaminated with nuclear particles, and is told he might not live a day or a week!
How did he get there??

That's my only puzzlement. Otherwise, fantastic show.  :)

They're moving fast here on it because last week they showed 1 and 2 back to back ("movie-length episode) and again they did it last night with 3 and 4. It's actually pretty good this way cuz you dont' forget too quickly what happened as it's all moving so fast!

Wow. My problem is episode 2 and 3 are merging into one, i saw them both in a run today and episode 3 is still fresh in my mind! I don't know if i remember enough of episode 2 to avoid spoilers!

On how George Mason got there, he was driving out of LA, and Tony called him up to tell him to check that place, they had a match on something (i think it was a car). Anyway, he went there and got contaminated, and i was starting to like him!

24 (and Futurama in Perth) is on tonight, thats just 3 hours away.

From what I have seen on the previews Jack is interogating Nina. Why are you glad that Nina is back aslate? I hate Nina!

She was a great character, she was evil and deceptive and alot of people in the UK wanted her to come back. That and we want to know her links to places like Germany.

I haven't been watching it as I've been watching Cold Feet. So instead I've been taping it and so after Cold Feet has finished I'll have 4 hours to catch up on! Which could prove exciting.

You know if they do what they did last season you wouldn't of needed to do that. Last time on Saturday they would show the previous 4 episodes (every 4 weeks) back to back. If it's not 4 then it's 3, actually i think it is 3 now.

I'm so pissed at the BBC, how dare they do this to 24. This was on BBC3's premier of the next 24. They had this really annoying guy shout over the soundtrack saying 'TUNE IN TO PURE 24, RIGHT AFTER THE SHOW. TALK ABOUT YOUR THEORIES AND E-MAIL YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT THE BEST SHOW ON EARTH' It lasted at least 20-30 seconds and they actually had him talk over someone else! Appart from pure 24 being a shit show anyway, i don't see how they can do that!

I wonder if that shouting guy was the same guy who hypes up the film premieres for the BBC even though they are ancient films anyway. "TONIGHT! The network premiere of The Sound Of Music!" "The network premiere of Breakfast At Tiffany's, Tuesday at 9!"

If they talk over it again maybe you should email them and whine about it.

I just finished watching the first season. especially the first half of it was great, but i think from then on it wasn't that good anymore. the last few episodes are quite chaotic and in my opinion not very authentic. but altogether it was very suspenseful. i'm lookig forward to the second season.

I love 24. All I can say is that I'm glad we're going to get 48 more hours, I'm assuming you can do the math and figure out how many seasons that is.  :cool:

I don't think season 2 was a good as season 1 but it was still good. Kim got even stupider this season and I didn't think that was possible. I wonder how dumb she'll be next year.

At least fox can keep some good shows on the air.

24 is great. It's not predictable, lasts a long time, keeps you interested...

It's not a straight and predictable plot. Maybe you need to be intelligent* to understand it.
