of course he has a point... but he has that at any messageboard system I know of, even on modern php based ones.As long as you are logged in, you are allowed to reach every setting and action available for you - without having to login or authentificate yourself again. Trick to avoid it... don't set your settings to save the password in a cookie on those computer where you can't be sure(aren't sure at all) that other people have access to it. (School, College, Uni, libruary,...). There the you surely have to type in your password with every post or edit you make, but you can be sure that your profile is save from phishing.

Even if you do there's a link under Preferences that will erase all cookies from PEEL when you click it.Conviniently it's called "Click here to delete all cookies set by this forum!"

PEEL isn't "privte" messaging. PEEL is a message board that people (mArc and I think slimmy as well) have to pay for. In short, don't post spam, because it makes more money to pay.

There won't be any private messaging system inplemented into peel. First off it would be by far too much work to add another database to store these, then linking them to the people's profiles and make them accessable with the password protection/cookie system. Then webpages and cgi scripts would be needed to access that all. 2nd: it would take up by far too much bandwidth and webspace, since it all has to be stored. 3rd: there are many systems that can do that job perfectly. Such as AIM, ICQ, MSN messanger, YAHOO messanger, IRC and last but not least e-mail. quote: Originally posted by Teral: Email. Use it.
May I add to that:"Dictionary. Use it."

Sometimes I find myself agreeing that PEEL's software should just get flip-flopped with one of the countless free shiny UBB dealies, but then I realize that I don't come here for the features, but for the people, the general code of conduct and what's actually in the threads. If somebody can't figure out how to work a message board that hasn't got such-and-such as features, then I think they're missing the point.

PEEL's been acting oddly. Thread names with little boxes instead of letters. Graphics loading with - well, errors. Stars turnign into avatars, avatars turning into stars. Posts not showing up. Posters not being credited as the most recent poster, but being there as the one with the most recent reply. Is PEEL having thse problems, or has my laptop gone psycho?

I know i'm in the minority using Safari on OS X, but does anyone else have issues where the odd page (like, 1/20) displays as plain text HTML code? It's just bizarre, and it only happens in Safari...

I use Internet Explorer on Windows, and sometimes I load a page and it comes out as HTML. I'd say don't bother, likely just PEEL being PEEL.

I have that too that PEEL has an hickup every now and then. It loads half a page and the rest appears as plain html code. Also lately the PEEL engine seems really slow. Whenever a post is made it needs at least a minute to preperly show up in the thread on my computers.

PEEL is a "bitch" about it. 16k is actually not strikt enough for it, it has to be under the exact number of 16,384 bytes. 16,385 bytes wouldn't work. Also it has to be smaller than 450 pixels in width as well. Sadly that is not written down there.

Qvestion - when I use the direct link after posting (if your browser does not automagically forward you.. blah) because it's taking too long, it doesn't show my post - double posted a couple of times cos of it - is this a known thang? I come up as the last poster in the forum overview but it doesn't show up in the thread for a while, at least not for me - don't know if it's viewable by others.I seem to remember an issue relating to this a while back, but I can't find the relevant post so forgive me if this is just a reiteration of what someone else has already said.

As far as I can see it it is "normal". The PEEL database seems to work quite slow lately and especially when you want to speed up the process by clicking the link it ends up in hickups. So I'd recommend not to click that and wait till the page reloads itself. In most times these "PEEL-fix" posts aren't needed, because after some times and reloads of the page the post comes up properly anyhow.

Ta for clearing that up Was just wondering if it was a known issue or not. It might just be my browser, but it really is taking about 5 mins to forward by itself, hence the link-clicky If I leave it to its own devices the last post shows up fine.

I have the same problem sometimes too, like GFF said, it's pretty "normal" - sorry I'm a bit late with the hammer but I thought it might be useful for Sil to know.[This message has been edited by dawoodz (edited 08-23-2006).]
