Peel has been off for about 2 hours.

Due to a crash, or was it the extensive usage of bandwitdh, caused by to the good news regarding Futurama?

That there is a chance for a direct to DVD movie.
Read it here: http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/1-004150-1/ and on the following pages. And on CGEF of course.

Yesterday, PEEL was down, not allowing anyone to get on. Apparently, it had to do with too many people attempting to access the site, but that's just what I've heard. I'm still waiting for official word from [-mArc-]

http://www.slashdot.org front-paged the news article on CGEF about Futurama straight-to-DVD. As a result of this, thousands of nerds clicked the links to CGEF, causing a nice server overload. It's known as the Slashdot Effect, taking out servers linked to from Slashdot.

PEEL and CGEF are using the same server, CGEF fried the server, so PEEL went down with it.

The "N00B" tag has been discussed numerous times here on PEEL.

Yeah, and each time there has been no serious point to banning the use of that word. So yeah, either a PEELer is stuck with it until after 6 months or until the PEELer stops spamming.

That's me disagreeing with your discription slightly.

My complaint: Ontopic, more specifically the Random Question-Answer Thread, has become a pointless Spam Haven. Which is very annoying, for me at least.

Pasty! Please! I am this board's official anti-usage-of-the-word-n00b-spokesperson (I need a snappier title). There are plenty of decent points to banning the "word" n00b.

1) It is always used in a derogatory sense, or could easily be taken that way.
2) We shouldn't be encouraging the use of words with numbers in them
3) It's a smug, stick up your arse that certain cliques like to use to attack, well, everyone.
4) I said so
5) The designation of six months fails to differentiate between a decent newbie who has lurked and understood the rules of the board, and experienced members who still act like PMT ridden jackasses
6) I've been here longer than you, I can beat you up
7) There's a perfectly good word. Newbie. It's neutral, doesn't use numbers, makes sense.

The alert button doesn't warn [-mArc-] immediatelly. It opens your mail client in which you can send him a mail, containing what you annoyed in that post or the whole thread.

No, we don't need that. Just alert the first thread post, and type in the message that spam needs to be cleared throughout the entire thread. It's not that hard.

Besides, the "Alert Thread" thing would have to be implemented by hand by mArc or slimmy, and they wouldn't do that anytime soon unless we REALLY needed it.

EDIT: Beaten by GFF while I was typing this.
