i think he meant people can change futurama avatars from pool as often as they want, but not everyone wants a futurama avatar and there're only 958 avatars in pool. 958 vs. unlimited number of pics.

I just blew it up and sharpened it up to 64 x 64. If you want the background removed that'll take a bit longer (partly because it's a bitch to remove complex backgrounds from a 64x4 avy).

Edit: I've forgotten the size limit - it's possible I've violated it (this avy is around 5.5kb)...

I believe the size limit is 3.4Kb. I suspect removing the background would bring it down to that level.

Oooh yay a Spongebob avy  :D (really squidward, but FROM Spongebob)

I think you should (blow it up and) scan it first, right now it looks kinda blurry and ucky. Still, it's really cool!  :D

Ok, quick question: Is it at ALL possible to use MS Paint to make avatars/scans?
Margarita

it's not possible to do scans in MS Paint, because for scans you need 2 layers and it's impossible in MS Paint.

depends what you mean by scan...  Technically you're still tracing the picture, you just have to fill in the colors by hand when you're done rather than doing the fill tool on the 2nd blank layer.

So I'm going to say yes, you can Nibbler Jr.  But because of Paint's limitations you'll probably still need another program like say irfanview (which is free, go to www.download.com  or something) to do shrinking and stuff cause if you leave it the same size after doing it in paint the edges won't be smooth.

It is just possible to do them in Paint, but it looks very poor. I'd reccommend using another program. A popular choice is Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop.

Like I said... depends how you do them...  You can technically reach the same quality, but you don't have filters and you have to make it extremely big, and then shrink it to get the correct smoothness....  Basically you can do the same things with MS Paint, but to achieve any quality it takes A LOT of time and effort...  I'd know, I've made a wallpaper in Paint....

Chump made some pretty darn spiffy scans using MS Paint a while back. Maybe he can give you some pointers.

"Acquiring" Flash is a  great start into the world of scans. Newer got the hang of PSP or Photoshop.

It is actually quite amazing what you can do with MS Paint. Hell, all of the illustrations from my latest chemistry project were made in that program by one of my fellow students. Avatars really shouldn't be that much trouble.

Yeah avatars wouldn't be bad in paint....  Cause when you shrink it, it should look a helluva lot better....  Like I said I made a wallpaper out of friggin paint, and it looked fine when I finished (3 months later)

Yeah, there are - but they're a bit complex to install, so go with PSP (or paint  :) ) if you're not that tech minded.
