I was reading a grammar blog today when I found an entry about womanly words, those rooted around "gyn." One of the words was "gynogomete," which I immediately misread as my new, favorite, feminist rallying cry: GY-NO-MYTE!

I wasn't feeling well for the past week. Sore throat, stuffy nose, headache, ear ache, and tightness in chest. I didn't go to school last Monday or Tuesday, went in Wednesday and Thursday despite feeling horrible. I went to the school nurse on Thursday because of all of the above pains, and they sent me to the wellness center (basically a nurse practitioner at the school). At wellness, the N.P. didn't listen to any of my symptoms except "tightness in chest" and saw "asthma" on my chart (I was diagnosed with sports-induced asthma last fall) and procede to give me a nebulizer treatment.Half-way through the treatment, I was feeling woozy, dizzy, and many other adjectives that have Z's in them. I told her of these things, but she told me to continue. By the end, I couldn't think well, I was very dizzy, and my head ache was throbing so much in the front of my head that I thought my head would explode. (It didn't.) In 5 minute's time, my limbs were beginning to shake uncontrollably, I was having trouble breathing, and I felt as if I was about to pass out. She put one of those mini heart pulse things on my finger; my pulse was high and my blood oxygen was ~80% (not good). They called the paramedics, and she started giving me oxygen. The paramedics showed up about 5 minutes later. Unfortunately, they too treated me as if I had an asthma attack (which, if you've been paying attention, I didn't have) and gave me a combination of oxygen and nebulizer on my trip to the hospital about 20 miles from the school. When I got to the hospital, I was still uncontrollably shaking, but it had centralized to only the right side of my body. When they took the mask off me, I finally told them that I never had an asthma attack and the N.P. overlooked all my other symptoms. The doctors at the hospital gave me some medicine via an IV (I can't remember what it is now) to reverse the stimulant affect of the two doses of nebulizer. The first dosage of the medicine didn't do much, but the second dosage helped very much, almost completely stopping the shaking. The doctors said that I had an adverse reaction to the nebulizer, and that the extreme amount of dosage of the nebulizer treatment was very much more than I had ever had before. I went to my regular doctor on Friday, and she said that, judging from my reaction, that I never had asthma and that something else, likely dehydration, was mimicing the signs of asthma. Because of this, on my own volition, I am now recording how much water/fluids I drink and how many times I use the restroom per day, in hopes to see if the asthma-like signs are because of dehydration or if it is really something else. I still feel horrible. I had to skip an AP test on Friday and a chess tournament on Saturday because of this. On the AP test side, I was lucky enough that Friday was the last day to order make-up tests. I might not be back in school until Tuesday, but definitely Wednesday, as I have an AP test on that day that now cannot be made up.

Heh. Why waste time and effort trying to be profound and/or witty when for the same amount of time and effort you can troll old threads for lost treasures.------------------ "Margarita is far more evil than Jeremy.
