I bought Idiocracy. I'm surprised how many of my friends seem to see it as just a wacky comedy, and seem to miss the sociopolitical commentary in the premise.

Then there's the ones who think it's a futurama knock-off, which to me is like saying Futurama is an Encino Man knock-off, but whatever.

Zombiejesus - cheers for the tip. I'll keep my eyes open.

Gopher - they're only illegal in the USA to my knowledge, due to hard feelings and such. Here in Australia (and everywhere else unless I'm mistaken) they're legit - for sale in any smoke shop.

Aww. Do it! I want to get a kitten too...even though my cat is only about 4. Or 28 in cat years...but if I got another kitty they could be sisters!

I got new shoes today. But they blistered my toes. I only got them because they had a strap round the back so they couldn't fall off..but they pushed into my big toes and hurted me...yeah, they'll do that. Have to stuff newspaper in 'em or something. I hate clothes/accessory shopping.

It might be worth considering killing the boyfriend and housemate, or at least trying hypnosis on them, the kitten is awesome and deserves a home, people who don't like cats should pay the price!

I need to re-code the pond management system to accommodate new hardware (arriving next week): the first iteration didn’t trap a failure mode that has only happened once, but can’t be allowed to occur again. After that I’ll be looking at a type of servo system with selectable preset output profiles.

If you are genuinely interested in PICs, Maplin have a couple of programmers that only support a limited range of devices, but are more affordable than the PicStart. When I bought the PS I was using 0.6 pitch C-series devices at work, so I needed the extra capability. But for hobby use it’s overkill, and the bureaucratic software package is geared towards large projects and code libraries.

USB has taken over in the consumer sector, largely due to plug-and-play. But RS232 is still viable in industry, where the extra features of USB are often unnecessary.

The logic that you should use is that once you have a kitten, you'll shut the hell up about getting a kitten and also be too busy feeding it cleaning it and stopping it shredding your curtains to even think about getting a snake.

Tell them that it's a cat or something poisonous. They'll agree to the cat.

Anyway, despite the fact that I had to live out the rest of my week on my credit card (bless it's little plastic arms), I bought Blackadder 3 + 4 (to join number 2, which I have had for several years) for $14 each at the ABC shop. This is after talking about Hugh Laurie in that other thread. Peel made me to spend money.

I also got $20 jeans at Cotton On as I refuse to buy designer ones with my current ass size.
