A title like this is why you shouldnt win it.
Tnuk, Im glad you feel sorry for my kids. Because, what you have to say means everything. Its so good to know that all you europeans think its ok to drink. Fine, good for you. Go give it to your kids - I certianly cant stop you. You think letting your child will make them NOT drink more? Fine, I think thats stupid, but whatever.
Your "child daddy" logic doesnt work so well. Could she have chocolate? No, because she allergic - or its too late - or shes had too much sugar today. Or, do I need to say yes always because saying no will be bad? Same for tv and computer. Those wont kill you. There are limits on everything.
I think you are missing the main point. Its illegal. Thats it. I could personally feel that drinking it great and everyone should do it at any age. Its still illegal. I wouldnt let my kids drive under age, or steal. I wouldnt let them smoke, or have sex. Thats illegal. Im sure you will all say "you cant stop them, denying it will make them want it more." And I cant stop them, but I can make sure its not allowed in my home, and if I find out about it, they are in big trouble.
Drinking underage is illegal. Plain and simple. Im going to make a point to my kids that they shouldnt drink anyways, but after they are legal I cant do anything about it. You want to show kids that doing illegal things is ok - even in some cases - go for it, but I wont.
Child: Daddy, can I have some alcohol? Daddy: No. Child: Why? Daddy: Because you arent old enough.
How about that? You know if you give a child under 2 honey they are much more likely to get botulism. Should I give it to them anyways when they ask/point at it? No, because it can cause problems. Should I give it to them and hope they work up a tolerance? Hell no.
If my kid is allergic to Peanut butter, and all the kids around him are eating it, and Im eating it, and we are all like yum yum, should I let him eat it anyways? If they know they shouldnt have it, thats enough. I wouldnt have to hide it.
Thats fine that you all think its ok, and benificial to give your kids alcohol. That you shouldnt deny it because they will want it more. Lessoned learned tnuk, dont deny children, because that will make them angry. Good to know.
Youre done with it? Good, so am I. I learned my lesson to let my kids do what they want and when they want.

I don't really care if I win it. I just conceded, if you really want to know. I thought it would make a miniscule-... I mean, very small, joke, you know, the title...
You may kill me now. I'll try not to start a test thread again...

Anywhoo, I was wondering, what kind of Barbecue sauce they use in Subway, the Chef BBQ sauce here tastes like crap, I want the Subway kind or a suitable alternative! Any ideas?

Drinking underage with your parents isn't actually illegal. We were checking into the law so that we could loophole it and have a friend of ours who is 22 become our legal guardian; it might be different in your state, but I strongly doubt it.
And for the most part nobody's point is entirely that if you shun your kids away from illegal or bad activities that you're a horrible parent; we're saying that you really have no reason or justifiable experience to judge other people's parents who believe that it can be part of the learning process. I suggested that educating your children is the best approach to parenting, which seems to be the same view you hold. We just go about it in different manners: you tell them no and how evil things are, and I tell them the facts and build them up with a little experience. I really haven't suggested that I would ever get my children trashed for the hell of it, take them to a hooker, and then force them to smoke pot in the garage. Not because I believe any of those things are inherantly evil, but because I find them unacceptable for a child to partake of. I think the real argument here is whether there is an acceptable amount of these items that one can have and still be within the confines that society holds us to. You think the amount should be none apparently, and I think that a little won't harm. Not attempting to be a rash judge of character, I could always say that you were evil for having practiced premarital sexual intercourse (even though you weren't 13, you still could have gotten pregnant or contracted some sort of sexual disease), or that you've had intoxicating substances in your body (people can die from even having small quantities of liquor in their body), but I won't go there. I won't go there because it's completely unreasonable to suggest that what you were doing was wrong, and that you did so with anything other than maturity and sound judgement.
Amy, I've joked about this plenty of times in the last few days, and maybe some of it has gone a little far. I think you're completely within your bounds (and would be a damn good parent) if you raised your children in the manner you describe. What I have a problem with is you going off the ball on other people for doing the same things because you deemed them too young to be able to handle those situations; I have met very few unreasonable people that shouldn't be allowed to make the decisions we're describing on PEEL, and especially not the ones you're accusing of being at fault. All cheap shots aside, I think we can all compromise that we lead different lives, and therefore have different viewpoints on what is the right and wrong way to live our lives. I won't bring this up again, and I hope it can end there, especially the hypothetical parenting thing. I still want to be yours and Mario's friend, because you're nice people to talk to, and wish you both a long happy relationship with little mario's and amy's that you can raise as best you can.
I also had no serious intentions of doping your kids up, I honestly find that morally wrong, and although however funny I thought it was, probably shouldn't have been said.

@slackit: Aren't you going to live with GFF in Deutschland, that is, assuming you two will be together for infinity(+1)? And if the liquor laws are more relaxed there, how would you feel then about your children drinking? If, say, your 16 year-old(I don't know what the age is in Germany, if any) is allowed by law to drink, will it then be okay by you? Why does ~FazeShift~ hate me? What did I ever do to him? I think he hates random people for no good reason. Because you're annoying. I doubt it's just Faz0r, I'm sure plenty of PEELers don't like your posts... actually, I thought that was obvious. Hmmm. Was that too harsh? Awesome. Awesome to the max. Maybe so, but I'd keep my children away from that. They're not ready. Question- why El Presidente... what are you trying to say?? Perhaps he's looking at the predicted demographic shift in America, and what it should be when Slackit is a happy mother of 11 7 3. Is that it? No offense intended, I'm sure.

Because you know, it's always better to let people you don't know and who don't care about you or your alcoholic kids be your moral guide rather than determining what's right and wrong for yourself.
In my underage experience, even though I became legal 2 years ago, the kids with the strictest parents, and the kids who had those parents who let them have all their friends over to drink were the worst alcoholics. The best route is, "Son, I know I can't stop you from drinking out with your friends, so I'm not going to try to. Just promise me you'll be careful, and don't drink in the house." In almost all cases like this moderation is the key.
Anyway, how you raise your kids is your decision, and I wouldn't dream of interfering, but I've always had a problem with the whole, "Whatever the law says is final," attitude. I would think that you would judge something like this based on the overall maturity of your kids. Drawing a line at a predetermined age for anything like this is stupid in my opinion. Like I said, though, it's your decision, I'm not trying to force anything upon you, I'm just making my opinion known.
