The point I was trying to make [and that you seem to have missed entirely]is the blind following of the Bible when it comes to bashing gays and burning Harry Potter books but strangely I hear nothing of 'devout Christians' burning their houses down due to dry rot or owning slaves.

You go from calling me personally a "bible-thumping moron"  and a "bigot" and accusing me of spreading "hartred"..... to talking about how some people bash gays and burn Harry Potter books, neither of which I do? Your "point" really seems to be to conduct a smear campaign against me because I'm not a wishy-washy semichristian who will roll over and accept whatever you declare about homosexuality.

And you seem to be intentionally ignoring certain things I've said, in order to draw this "argument" out. Let me quote them for you.

 

I don't think people who murder homosexuals or picket their funerals with signs saying "God hates fags" can truly qualify as Christians. They've twisted a beautiful thing into an excuse for acting out their violent and cruel agendas.

Just because I think living a homosexual lifestyle is sinful doesn't mean I want to see people harm them.

 

The Old Testament laws are no longer followed because Jesus came and changed the nature whereby man relates to God. Not to mention bringing to fruition everything that the Old Testament stood for.

Which is why we don't stone adulterers and refrain from eating pork. That method of relationship with God is ended.

The Bible was written over several thousand years, with the most recent parts written under 2,000 years ago. Unless I'm mistaken, it goes back over 7,000 years.

Ralph is not a Christian, he used to be one. He also holds many views that are neither right-wing nor Christian. But he and I get along just fine because neither of us is the type to start calling people "Bible-thumping bigot morons" with no provocation.

You, YS, are a complete jerk, looking to pick fights with people who don't agree with you, and calling names and vilifying them. I don't hurt homosexuals, which is what you say your gripe is. So why don't you crawl back into your hole and try to form a little more balanced and mature worldview?

Yardstick, I think youre missing a key point of the Bible.  Yeah, there are rules and laws that Christians should follow, but most of the stories in there, and Jesus, its just telling you to be a generally good person. 

TMC thinks being gay is a sin because it is in the Bible.  On the same hand, he doesnt go beating the crap out of them... because of the Bible.  In my religion classes we were taught mostly that you follow the commandments, and do your best to be a good person - ask God for forgiveness and help when you screw up, and youll be just fine.  That includes gay people. 

Theres a difference between not approving of a lifesyle and accepting its there.  TMC knows, like the rest of us Christians that there are gay people out there.  We may not approve of what they do - but at the same time we know theres not much we can do about it.  Those people who protest and say horrible things to gay people are NOT true Christians. 

Think of it this way.  Every 10 year old out in the states today wants to dress slutty-ish because of famous people like Britney Spears.  Now - I dont like, or approve of that, but I dont have any kids, and going up to someone elses kids and yelling at them isnt my buisness.  I may not like it, but I really cant do too much about it. 

Anyways, the real point is that - who cares how old the book is?  Id much rather follow a book about being a good person, than read some stupid crap Micheal Moore just put out and believe that.
