Yeah yeah every time we have a test thread the first page is filled up with "This name sucks".

And then when that person makes the thread everyone else says "Name sucks".

Test thread names will always "suck", it's a tradition.

Awful title. The space in "ahead" kills the joke... but I'll forgive you Randi, 'cause you sex me up.  ;)

I don't miss hangovers, I sometimes miss being drunk (or is it that I miss the excuse for outrageous behaviour?).

You know I always found the best hangover remedy (aside from not getting drunk in the first place) to be prozac, weetabix and copious amounts of water. Not sure why but SSRIs seem to be a cure for most next day side-effects from most substances. Also, aren't you underage? Naughty. I'm calling the police. No-one dig up an incoherant post of mine before 25-2-03  ;) or mention that i started regularly at 15.

Test thread name sucks because I'm not in it.

Haha, I had have been witness to the stupidest crime ever to happen in Liskeard.

Sitting in front seat of the family car in the massive Co-Op Carpark of my 'home'town, Liskeard I as well as several people including my own mother saw two chavs nick 4-5 Co-Op trolleys in Broad Daylight while being faced with a carpark with well over 200 cars in and a large assortment of people.

They were reported of course. Wonder if they have been caught already. Grand Theft Trolly, possibly the most hilarious of the Grand Theft crimes just before Grand Theft Empty Baby Pram and behind Grand Theft Pensioner Wheelie shopping bag.

Yes, underage by 2 1/2 months, but I'm still older than you Archie!  :p  Water does indeed help, but I try not to self-medicate (I'm a psych major... need to be a good example!) and besides, I haven't any SSRI's available to me.

Well, regardless, I feel better now after lots of coffee and a nice shower.

You older than me... never!

Hey, I'm doing psychology A-level, and I've never had a particular problem with self-medicating  :p though thankfully that's stopped now.

Just got back from a job interview at PC World, i feel like i did well. Answered all the questions without too much trouble, the voluntary work on the website / VLE and Young Enterprise covered all the things she wanted to know about. Seemed impressed by the test results (But wouldn't tell me), and really liked the Olavian Cufflinks our company made. Should know within 5-7 days, possibly sooner.

Wait, employers actually see Young Enterprise as a bonus? Prehaps I should start putting mine down on forms...

As an employer I looked for people to have a neat and fully filled out application form before even looking at the contents. Within a form I would look for relevant experience or at least experience of some description as a bonus, so yes, Young Enterprise would be seen as a bonus. Within the interview I'd look for someone who would admit to being flexible, who answers the questions confidently without hesitating (if you are scared of me, think about when you're dealing with a queue of 10 impatient customers) and an overall good demeanor. Teaching good demeanor isn't easy, essentially it's making the interviewer like you. For part-time retail jobs what matters is
      • Relevant experience
      • Confidence (not arrogance)
      • Good personality, easy to get on with, not confrontational to authority
      • Flexible and understanding of the company's needs
      What doesn't matter is:
      • Dress, within reason. Going in a suit is unlikely to help your chances at this stage
      • Hobbies and interests
      • School grades

Part-time work just isn't competitive enough. They might interview five people for one position and someone who isn't a total cretin and able to do the hours specified is going to get the job. Within full-time work where fifty people apply for one position then little things like dress, interests, overall mannerisms apply much more.

Young Enterprise shows that you're able to work as a team member and is great as an introduction to business life. I didn't put YE on my CV (I did the CV in 5 mins, it was short), but i brought it up in the interview as there were questions such as "Give an example of how you have organised something" (EG. Homework), i brought up YE and suggestions about deligation of work. Conflict with colleagues came into YE too. It is a very good thing for CVs. It's not doing it, it's what you can say about it.

Congrats 'slate  :D I've been looking for a new job lately, but to me it just seems so difficult. I don't have much confidence in myself, I can't see why someone would want to employ someone like me who has barely any 'good' qualifications. I've applied for a phramacy assistant job at Tesco, but the application form is horrible to fill in, I really don't think they could judge me on just one questionnaire. I've applied for Tesco's twice before, rejected on both.

Or if there are jobs which look decent, you need a driving licence for them. I think I've got about a year until I get mine, haha  ;)
