My home state, Oregon, has a nice 0% sales tax.

5% in Maryland, none in Delaware. That's why I go there to get things like electronics. Around Nashville, Tenn., the rate is 9.75%. I thought that was high until I saw [hint hint for Wooter on the sales tax in Alaska question] this, which shows that Europe has quite high sales tax. Check the link for the US on the page's bottom, Wooter, for your Alaska answer.

Burnout Revenge may in fact be the most addictive game since Lumines.  Even more so, since I've never played Lumines.

Anybody else played the Call of Duty 2 demo? Great fun, very much in the style of it's predecessor with updated graphics (and a North African theatre).

Heh heh, "Call of Doodie".
What are the odds it will work on my machine, not like stupid AOEIII demo which powered off my HD.

No Win ME support.  :(

It's a shame they didn't produce a second add-on for the first CoD.

I dunno...

I have been totally bored with all the dozens of WW2 games for the consoles and PC in the last few years. Let the damn war die already!

I have a problem.  I played Hearts of Iron II for nearly six hours today.  Things I should have been doing: Economics (studying), CompSci (homework), Japanese (studying), hanging out/Futurama-viewing, going to see Serenity (though that would have had me out till four.)

I need help.  Possibly in the form of Civilization IV, though I doubt that'd be much better.

I'm quite looking forward to that, glad they've broken the mould from scripted Medal of Honour advance forward fest and made battles a lot more random.

I'm looking forward to the North African theatre too. Hopefully I can terrify ze Germans in multiplayer with the ultimate horror, a British man wearing shorts!

Also, Battlefront 2 looks like they've put in some real effort this time. It is so on my list, alongside Black and White 2.

Anyone played Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in North America)?

Thinking of getting it and wondering if anyone has anecdotes, small reviews, whatever.

MKTai, I can get (aquire, obtain, somehow) Fahrenheit and do a review dealie if you like?

But other than that, I'm playing Battlefield 2 (AWESOME!), CS and finishing teh Evil campaign in Battle for Middle-earth... which is really easy so far.
Compared to defending Helms Deep in the Good campaign, nigh on unpossible!

Faze, what's your BF2 nick? Mines CyberJKnight.

Reason I ask is because of a useful site I found:
 www.bf2s.com

For stats comparisons  :)

Speaking of BF2, the patch released today has greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the game. Not just because of the tweaks to the ranking system, in which I jumped from Lance Corporal to a Master Sergeant (skipping Corporal and Sergeant), thus gaining me 3 more unlocks - which I promptly used on getting the G3, M95 and L85A1  :D - but because it's made APCs a force to be reckoned with. Before they were slow moving, easy targets that weren't worth it (better to go for a tank). Now they finally have a place on the battlefield, with their upgraded speed and torque making them adept at rapid response.

Oh yeah, and the L85A1 is an awesome weapon in the game.  :D Turns the medic into a real force to be reckoned with :bwahahahahah!:.  ;)

I didn't buy it so:
1. I can't update it (no crack for latest version... that I can find)
2. They might get on to the fact that I didn't buy it...

But in case there's a Friends system (hurry up and finish it Valve!    ), it's the same as my gmail username... without the @gmail.com bit of course.

God, Steam has made me paranoid.

Say, did you read my post about my final year project in the school thread BTW? GOGOGO!   :p

MKTaye: I do, sorta. My friend said it was good, but then again, his hard drive where I assume he keeps it, crashed on him, and is probably lost.

I'm guessing the fact that you are pre-ordering a console a long time before it comes out that is the problem.

Also, I've asked you this before, but why pre-order anything?

Why pre-order? Because you can sometimes get special deals when you preorder - free games, discounts, etc. Because you don't want to have to wait until your local store restocks the item cause they sold out the first day.

I am just curious, you have EB Games in America of course but in Aussie here they don't get everything over here till after you. And how big are the EB Games stores over there?

You should have linked the headquarters.  But no, they're not that big.  They're like the smaller stores in malls and strip malls.  Bigger indoors.  Mine's pretty small.

Does anybody here own Warcraft3: Frozen Throne?
Because if you do and feel like playing Night Of The Dead (that's a mod for WC3 where you play a marine and run around a map full of zombies with other marines trying to survive and it rules), tell me. Because it gets better if there are more participants in the slaughter.

Which reminds me to bitch about the fact that most MODs require you to own all addons of the respective game.

And yes, I just own Reign of Chaos, but not the addon, because I'm not going to buy a localized version.  :hmpf:

Spiffers, I've got Frozen Throne, and now that I've got ice cream sexy broadband I can jump around playing games now.
That mod sounds really familiar; I remember a great Starcraft map back in '98 of Dawn of the Leaving Dead... you had to barricade the mall and try and find weapons... and some idiot would forgot to barricade a door and you'd all get turned into zombie pate... kind of like the movie actually.  :p

Now that I have a new video card I've maxed out the graphics on all my games with the res of 1280 x 960, except sim city 4 'cause it doesn't have that res size, so it is on the low 1024 x 768.
Im also gonna try to pick up a copy of Half Life 2 and Battlefield 2 when it comes out.

In regards to the next Gen consoles, I'll be sticking to the Playstation 3. I kinda lost track of Nintendo after the N64, and all I use my xbox is used for is a DVD player.

Black + White 2 looks good, visually, hopefully it won't be as annoying as the last one.

I'm assuming that if you don't, you won't get it the day it comes out unless you wait on line at a store for 24 hours.

Oh, and that's a huge EB compared to most I've been in.

I've never understood pre-ordering either. Granted, I usually buy games two years and four price cuts later, but I've never really seen the need for pre-ordering.

Also, my friend whos played it a bit more says there's a hot sex scene in it.
