An old friend of mine took me by suprise and gave me a big hug while I was at the supermarket. I haven't seen this girl in months and it was kind of refreshing to see someone I like.

Is this a temporary thing, or are you moving to Melbourne for good?  Do you have a job, or are you still going to Jindabyne?

Questions, questions....  ;)

Plan A, which was Jindabyne, has gotten the flick. I've had to weigh up a few things like:
a) friends
b) money
c) good times

and realised I'll have little of that in Jindy, yet all of that in Melbourne. So Melb it is   :D Probably until the end of the year, until next winter season in USA.
And as Robiben suggested in #fc, perhaps this can be the first chance to organise a sort of a mini-PEELalia thingo.

i went in and had the cast cut off today.  the hand is healing well except for a small hemotoma under the 4th finger causing some pain and loss of motion.  it should resolve in a few days.  i now have a detachable splint on the wrist/hand.  i was really amazed how much the arm at the wrist has atrophied in just a few days.

now the really good news.  the ortho trauma surgeon works at this office.  while i was having the splint made, he came to speak to me.  he told me that the guy in the wreck would be ok given time.  then he told me that i saved the kid's life by making a tourniquet out of my belt stopping his bleeding.  he even appologized for being a jerk to me when he saw me in the er.

my day has been made.  i celebrated by picking us takeout for texas roadhouse for kelly and me.

the driver didn't make it.  i'm guessing severe thoracic/abdominal trauma with a possible broken neck.  that was a teenaged girl.  the passenger was a teenaged guy with a head injury and a open compound rt femur fracture.

@ dr. thunder:

i'll let him have the belt.  a new one from wal-mart is waiting on me.

Thanks Ralph, I made a good impression with the hiring administrator and she even told me that "I like your attitude; it's the kind we like to see from our applicants." Who knows, maybe she says that to everyone but I'm definitely confident.

It's been an interesting couple days.  I got some unpleasant stuff hanging over my head, and work has been hectic, but I think the good outweighs the bad.  Here's the good:

I got leftover money this month.
I just today got a nice guitar amp.
I found a hone to hone my motorcycle cylinders, so I can finally get the engine back together.
I got the fork seals for my motorcycle in the mail today.  And damn were they hard to find.
I had a awesome dream about Weird Al Yankovic.
I still got leftover money this month.
The Hellacopters announced they're playing here in March, which is like ten Christmases for me.

Basically, the areas of life that are most important, Rock & Roll and motorcycles, just improved dramatically.  Now if only I had some good weather to paint my motorcycle.

My presentation was excellent. The teacher complimented me on my dress code (suit and tie, I still have a pic of that somewhere. No cigar though), on my "range of vocabulary other students can only dream of", good introduction and conclusion, original approach (I faked questions from the non-existant audience), etc etc. He called me a unique phenomenon and sees a brilliant career ahead.

Zeej: Awesome.

Eggs: You're the most Rock n Roll person I don't really know.

Last night was good. Aside from the fact that I caught up with friends I haven't seen in a while, saw amateur standup (most of it terrible) and drank some great beer, it was really great weather. Nice. Not too hot, not too cold and not windy.

Today ruled again.  The weather was nice, I got the flex hone I ordered, honed the bores, got my super silicone wiper blades, and I got a switch for my amp.

It didn't work, but now I know what kind of switch I need to exchange it for tomorrow, plus I figured out the reverb problem is just a bad spring I can hear rattling around in the reverb tank, which I can replace myself for $20 with very little risk of electrocution.

And I still have leftover money, which I'm about to use to go out and get drunk.  I've always liked Fridays.

Holy Hitler in a Handbasket!

I got my student room on the campus in England, next to the other Belgian exchange student. We'll be there for a 3 month internship. I've been waiting like 4 months for a confirmation on the room.

Tonight was the official opening and reception of what my college calls 'International Week'. It has a lot of foreign guest teachers and professors. (Swedish, Hungarian, Korean, English, German, Dutch...). I'll meet my internship mentor in person there.

The reception had free beer and wine. Not regular beer, a tripel from a picobrewery (I think) no less. I got a merry buzz.

(God I love this country sometimes.)

Oh yeah, I also got complimented on my leather jacket from a girl, and we exchanged phone numbers (not directly as in "what's your number lol!11". It was much more subtle).
If I recall correctly, I was pretty retarded for not noticing any intrest I got from her during my  school trip in November.
Not impressive? I don't care, it's much further that I've ever gotten.     :p
Fuck, what do I do now? The biggest problem is logistics. She has a student room in my college town, I commute. Internships start in 7 days, then we won't see each other for 3 months. After that... graduated.

Tomorrow's the college has Noche Española, with Flamenco dancing artists, wine and paella. She'll be there.

Ask her if you can practice your Flamenco moves on/with her, say you're trying to impress a girl. Then after, ask her was she impressed?   :p *

It sounds like things are already set up quite nicely for you. All I can suggest is that you make eye contact, speak clearly... don't act like a bashful 12 year-old. That means no erections while dancing, by the way.

I got some code working today, a few more solid days work (i.e. more than 5 lines of coding) and I should be ready to start my thesis.
Deadline is mid March in case you wonder.  :p
