here's a link to the PEELathon II thread: link!

and here's a link to the redheaded stepchild thread. (I closed it because it dared to not show in a search for "PEELathon" - way to go TMC...) click!

so Mellllllll's been saying he can go to NYC in May and the last weekend in May is f'ing memorial day weekend (and I'd rather not be on our nation's shittiest road (95) then)... and I really want to go see this concert even if I have to go alone... so I thought that might make for a good weekend. Or if not, who wants to go to Madison Square Garden on the 21st with me? Mellllllll?

You betchya!  I'm in for that.

Nice to have a date for this thing, now I have something to aim for.  Will hang fire for a few more replies before starting to organise myself.

so let's say no one else comes, because everyone else is cheap and stupid...

I say we party. If we're confident enough then everyone will naturally be drawn to us. right?

I've started killing myself already! I came up with an equation for it: D-BxR/H. Judging by the average depth cut per minute (D), accounting for the time wasted by blackouts caused by severe blood loss (B), the thickness of a 19-year-old-male's ribcage (R) and the durability of a standard B&Q hacksaw (H)... I'll be dead by lunchtime tomorrow. Maybe 2-ish if I go get my mail beforehand.

I'm kicking myself for not being able to go, unless I dig even deeper swathes into the overly complicated metaphor of my bank account and credit card.

Good luck getting U2 tickets to MSG... you'd want to decide pretty quickly if you were going.

they go on sale on the 31st of this month at 10 am (EST, I assume...). There should be some cheap seats/floor available then. I'm buying a ticket either way.  :p

Leave Melll to the scalpers on Ebay, that's the way.  :p

I heard the pre-sale was a farce anyway, and they sold barely any tickets... lots of angry U2 fans at the moment...

I haven't been following U2 for many years.  Why the angry fans?

Because they suck.

Not the last weekend?  Damn, I was hoping it would be after classes ended.  Actually, I may still have a shot if its the third weekend...

I've done some checking into dates/flights/hotels/prices, and it's totally doable, arriving on the Friday (20th) and leaving Monday (23rd).

Looks like I'm on for this, even if you can't get U2 tix, we should make it that weekend anyways.

Angry U2 fans because they paid $40 to sign up for U2.com, which was supposed to get them guarrenteed tickets to the concert of their choice. The pre-sale thing fucked up, and most people ended up with no tickets or tickets in the nosebleed sections. So they're $40 poorer for no reason. Ch-Check It Out. That used to be a U2 fan site.

May, eh?  I dunno.  I have no plan to be back east in May, and I want to take a break from flying after I flew 22,000 miles in November and December.  I don't want to miss Melllvar, though.  Maybe people want to have a PEELathon on the west coast?  Spicey still hasn't answered back if he wants to hang out with me in Vancouver in March.  Or anyone who ever wants to meet in SF, I'm down.

Or too poor and living in a crappy-ass job market ... I don't know who qualifies for that, though ... oh, wait, me!

Unless, of course, someone wants to set up a PayPal fund to send good old Zoidy to the PEELathon ... *winkwink*

Though I don't know what my availability will be then, with class, clinical times, and ambulance ridealongs ... paramedic school's a bitch.  Maybe if it was a holiday weekend, and I have a Monday or Friday off of class ... if we had one in August, it'd be MUCH easier for me to attend (hint hint).

What about dragging Nix along to the concert instead of us?   :p

edit @ Eggs:
I'd be down for a West Coast PEELathon.  Vancouver, WA you say?  I could drive!  So, sign me up for that idea...

And I'm not getting dragged to any faggoty U2 concert.

Depending on whether that gig sells-out in four seconds flat, I'm sure the date can be negotiable.

Just not the last week in May, as VF doesn't wanna drive on that weekend.

he'll be in school. I can't imagine he'd be able to come

and honestly, if no one wants to go, then that's fine. if people want to go, but hate U2, then that's fine. the concert is at night, you guys can still come and just have an orgy, or go out, or whatever from 7 pm-??? if you want. one concert can't last an entire weekend...

The only reason I'm concerned is because I'm not so sure I want to take a weekend off work and go to New York City while I'm still in school. I'd just prefer to hang out with you guys in the summer. If that's practical.

Hmmm... I can't go. If it was this Fall, maybe, but It's hard to get a job at a place that works around my university schedule, so I only have that kind of scratch (about $300 for 2 day return) in the Summer/Fall, from working in the Summer.

Dave, they meant U2 as in the cuban drug. You see the PEELathon is for us people with not much to do, so we all get together and "try to see Jesus" with the help of drugs...

Of course it's the band...

Hey, I saw something in the Theme Park thread about a new rollercoaster in Six Flags Great Adventure...can we go there for a PEELathon, since it's right in New Jersey? I would definetely be up for some serious rollercoaster action.

You guys are dumb, roller coasters are awesome. The good ones are just such a rush. I'd rather try out Bungee jumping if I happened to be in the Ney York area, though.

U2 isn't my favorite band, but given the chance I'd probably see them live.

I don't care what we do, to be honest, I'd just like to turn up, hang out and meet people.  We could pick the weevils out of biscuits for all I care.

BTW: If there's a book running on whether Melll's full-of-it and will never come, I'll take that bet, and collect when I see you.  :p

I might be up for it. Not the concert part, but the flying a whole lot of miles and then hanging out part. How much non-U2-related merriment is there going to be?

I may try and make it to New York this year. I'm completely free (technically) until September, though my mum is still not 100% happy with me taking myself off to America so either I do some travelling to slightly nearer places first, or I attach myself to another Brit travelling that day like some freeloading parasite (paying my way though of course)
I'd love to go to New York, and quite like U2, so...  :)
But we'll have to see...

I think I'll pass on the U2 concert, but if there's going to be an entire weekend made of it, I might be interested just for hanging out purposes.  If it's not going to be that weekend, I'll need solid dates as soon as possible so I can put in for leave from work.  Heck, if some people wanted to swing by New Jersey to ride some big-ass roller coaster, I'd be up for that as well.  I haven't been to a theme park in years.

don't worry, Lampy, TMC's driven like 8+ hours down to my house 2 summers in a row to go to Busch Gardens with me. So you can make fun of him for liking theme parks too!
