That is the only Marilyn Manson album I like and the only one I own.  There are some really great pop songs on that and it was made before he became too pompous and started thinking he was the savior of humanity or whatever.
Most of the other albums on the list look good too.

That's quite good, Spiff. I might have mentioned some of those, but since I only have mp3s of random songs from those bands, I don't really know.
But you reminded me of:
  • The Mars Volta - "De-Loused in the Comatorium" (which I do own)

Thanks. Your list's quality too (which reminds me - I have to check out Mew. Are there any legal MP3s out there?).

I assume some bands will be added to that list as soon as I have their albums, Drive Like Jehu springs to my mind.
And I can already think of several albums I forgot, but I'm too lazy to add them now...

What have you heard about Mew?
No- there aren't any officially legal mp3s. That's because Sony refuses to acknowledge the fact that Mew have made three albums and not just the one released by Sony/Epic... But Mew own all rights to the first two albums because the first label went bankrupt and the second one was released on EvilOffice- their own indie-label. And since Sony refuses to re-print the old albums, Mew have unofficially encouraged people to download anything they can find from the old albums. Kazaa has a bunch of them.
I'd like to recommend Snowflake, She Came Home for Christmas, I Should Have Been A Tsin-Tsi (For You), King Christian, Saliva, Mica, Wheels Over Me, Panda, Wherever, Pink Monster, and all the rest, really...

@Fromage: Did you know that Rolling Stone (I think it was them) estimated Pinkerton the all-time worst album of '96? I don't know why though- I got it and I love it...

By the way- Why do most people hang on to Beautiful Freak (a great album, BTW)? People should listen a lot more to Electro Shock Blues, which is cleraly a better album...

I discovered eels with beautiful freak when I was really down and back then I felt like someone was suffering with me... So I feel that way every time I listen to it. I love all eels cds including their next one. (well, I'm sure I will love it)

As for pinkerton, most people didn't like it, even if it's my favourite weezer CD. Its dark AND funny and it sounds like a garage band recorded in HiFi... So there's no reason to dislike that album!

I don't like it overly much, no... not sure why, the songs just didn't get me where the other seemed to (easy there, guys) So Pure was alright, but...

Under Rug Swept and Jagged Little Pill are definately the two finest of Alanis'. Just my opinion, though. Feel free to argue.

Hmm, Jagged Little Pill seems to "naive" for me nowadays (although I liked it in the beginning).

But SFIJ kicked ass!
It really has some great songs and I like the "experimental" style.

Under Rug Swept was just disappointing as it only had straight predictable songs and somehow Alains remindes me of Cher since I heard that album...

Jagged Little Pill's songs are classics, paricularly 'Wake Up' and 'Perfect'. Under Rug Swept just has 'Narcissus' and 'You Owe Me Nothing In Return' which both rank as some of my favourite songs of all time.

Maybe I'll go back and have a listen to Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. Might be one of those that really grows on you...
