thanks. that's adolf, from the comic "adolf" by walter moers.

translation of a short description at amazon: "adolf returns after years in the underground and gets a second chance. "i am back!" he announces, kills his tamagochi and the revived göring [note: after he had sex with transvestite-göring] meets mother theresa and aliens, buys the eiffel tower and destroyes hiroshima. he becomes addcited to crack and deciphers crop circles. he becomes dodi and di's bodyguard and sings in a karaoke contest. he becomes zen-buddhist, reads günther grass [german literature nobel-prize winner, hates the nazis], plays monopoly, does the pepsi-test and at the end, he faces the decision whether to save or destroy mankind."

in short: fun for the whole family!

Wow, Amazon.de is really German. Uncomfortably German, in fact.
Is there anyway to order this Adolf comic in English or am I going to have to learn more German?

i guess you have to learn more german.

if you're interested in reading something by walter moers, i really really recommend the 13 1/2 lives of captain bluebear, which is a fantasy novel. and quite a long fantasy novel too, but unlike all other fantasy novels, with moers' very own sense of quirky humour. i loved it.

edit: i forgot. the link above is to amazon.co.uk, here's the amazon.com captain bluebear link.

Sandwiches you say, allow an expert to step in.

Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwches are teh  :puke:

A proper cold sandwich needs to have chicken in. Mayonnaise is necessary if you don't have tomatoes as the bread is usually too dry and gaggy otherwise, though of course this adds calories. My way of compensating is making a sandwich with extra tomatoes and cucumber to add moistness. Flavoured chicken goes especially well with this combination.

As for hot sandwiches, well any hot sandwich has to have cheese in. BBQ chicken & Cheese is especially good, though cheese and ham melts are good too, and stuff some salad on the side and you've got yourself a decent meal made in a few minutes.

My record sandwich eating though was a large loaf which my parents got for family meal once, but didn't use, so I was hungry, cooked 2 chicken pieces, placed in this mega-sandwich along with tomato, peppers, lettuce and mayo, and ate. It was the length of a dinner plate, and yes I finished it, and was uncomfortably full afterwards. Ah good days!

Nah, cooking something for a sandwich defeats the whole purpose (i.e. you're hungry, there's no fried crack babies about, but bread and leftovers aplenty!)

My sandwich record is: chicken, ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, salt, pepper, butter, two slices of whitebread.

The best sandwich I ever had contained five packs of bacon. That's cooking a sandwich without defeating the purpose. Five packs... I couldn't move afterwards.

my grossest/biggest/sandwichiest sandwich ever involves random thanksgiving leftovers on some kind of bread (or those tiny brown and serve rolls that taste like paper). Includes some combination of the following: turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, sweet potato cassarole, gravy, butter, stuffing, peas. Usually some or most of this is heated but I like the turkey better if it's not been microwaved.

...sandwiches, you say? The Grease Trucks at Rutgers... they're called fat sandwiches. I remember having a Fat Moon(2 hamburgers, a couple fried eggs, bacon, lettuce, plenty of french fries, mayo, ketchup, probably some other shnit) most often. Other sandwiches come bearing the names Fat Bitch and Fat Buddha. Everything in the meal is in the sandwiches, be it mozarella sticks, cheesesteak, jalapeno poppers, chicken... whatever fits, I suppose. The best part is that if you design your own sandwich and eat 3 or 5(I dunno) in a specified period of time, you can name the sandwich and they'll sell it for a limited time. If it does really well they keep it around, and a sandwich named after you can live on for decades among hungry and stoned college students.

All this sandwich talk inspired me to make a B.L.T.
A two storey one with melted cheese (you're so right Archie!), 5 strips of bacon, mayo and ketchup.

I can feel my arteries screaming with pleasure cos of their new butter-like friends!

Holy mother of God.  That's a reference I never expected to hear again.  Fat cats for me.  Or else just ordinary falafels because I could never finish a fat anything in one sitting.  Oh man... the grease trucks kick ass.  Stay away from them after the bars close, because people piss on them.  I wish I was still at Rutgers.  You just can't find good greasy food in California.  Tell the dude at Jordan's I said hi.  And Evelyn's kicks ass too.  Is that still around?

Man, I miss it, too... I transferred south after the Spring 2003 semester. I was on Cook, though... I didn't get off the farm and to College Avenue too often. I should be glad I couldn't afford too many sandwiches...

...although I read the trucks almost got shut down last year. Some safety issue... I'm sure it wasn't anything related to cleanliness.  :p

Wrecked my first car tonight.  HIt some ice, fishtailed three or four times, and hit a tree with the side of the van.  The passenger-side, thank everything that is good and holy.  I hit directly on the passenger-side door.  If had been on the opposite side...

The girl we rescued from the car crash last October, crashed on the passenger side, and she had severe head injuries.

You are indeed lucky, sir.
