Yeah I really must check that out, and thanx guys  :D You're right ZJ, it's definitely influenced by Futurama. I just took a slightly darker atmospheric take on things, I made it mine, but had fun with the Futurama style which I love  :)...

I was fortunate enough to have had my own gallery show recently.
I had a nice big commercial space (rent free, even!)
all to myself and I got around 60 visitors over two days.
I even sold one photograph.

Here's one of the paintings I had on display:

Title: Lola
Medium: watercolor
size:  14" x 10 3/4"

That's totally cloolsome, love the colors, textures and tones. You can clearly handle watercolor much better than I

Otis, can you be my god?  Btw, I have bad computer skills so no one can be tormented by my Horrible pictures but if anyone wants to draw like me, just "accidentally" drop your pencil on paper a few times, draw a few misplaced lines and a smudge or two then bingo! your an anti-expert drawer. Like me.   Great stuff everyone   You to maddoc3d. and marge.

Yes, it is ... in Germany. There's a new law saying so.

It's a picture I did with my wacom graphics tablet (that thing that sits under a pile of junk on my desk). It's of myself. I did it from looking in a mirror.

The more I look at it the more flaws I find though. Oh well. Thanks for the nice comments everyone

The jaw looks too masculine. The general shape of your face doesn't match.

VF: very good stuff, I like how you made it into a tonal painting rather than a line drawing  :)

Here's some stuff from my last wacky project:

Inspired by poetry by Sylvia Plath, a women gets drawn into a world of insanity and metaphorical transformation into queen bee. Original paintings in acrylic.

Some reeeally old stuff, I just felt like showing off

Gryphon pup. This was part of a larger watercolour painting I did over 3 years ago

A sketch I did in a friend's sketchbook, by no means my best but sometimes I like just working straight in pen cause it's spontaneous and with pencil sometimes my hand draws faster than my head thinks of what I'm doing

Alenacat: those are absolutley mindblowing!  In a good way of course.  I love Sylvia Plath and that painting really does her work justice.

Great stuff everyone again. And they're almost all paintings, and I can't paint to save my life, so I'm deeply envious.  :p

We did SP in English Lang & Lit during AS levels, so I recognise the reference there Alena  ;). Problem was, thanks to the curriculum, this poetry was stuffed down our throats so we couldn't really appreciate it, and some of us resented it as well. Personally I was calling her Sylvia Psycho-Plath by the end, just by what I thought were pretty damn weird poems - I know it's unfair to call a fellow artist (one much better than me as well) something like that, especially considering the way that she committed suicide, but that's how bitter many of us were feeling during ASs.

I don't usually have the patience to paint, plus there's no undo button.

At least her morbidity was quirky and not angsty and nu-metal ish.

@Zed: Eh, I can sympathyse with English Lit AS nastiness, I dropped out after 2 months of searching of metaphor beyond simile beyond onamatopea(sp?) and taking any life out of whatever we were studying.

@Alena: Well, you're talking to someone who dropped out of all of his AS courses, two years in a row...  ;)

@Cap'n Skusting: That's really cool art there. One of the things I go for when looking at paintings is how well the artist has caught natural light, and that one looks spot on.  :)
Plus I always like motor art  ;)
Denny Hulme BTW?  :)

Indeed it is.
You've no idea how long its been since I've come into contact with anybody who remembers names like that!
(I should do some kind of montage of  famous helmets one of these days.)
The Lola pic is the transaxle of Mario Andretti's Newman/Haas CART ride circa 1987 - the Meadowlands Race to be specific.

New photos of the August Sky:

Captured some whoppers last nite!

Early on, when we saw the way the clouds were starting
to line up, and the clarity of the sky, we knew we were gonna
be in for something special...

We waited patiently, and were reawrded:

The sweetest bit of this spectacular sunset unfolding before our eyes,
was the Easterly view...a sky straight out of Independence Day:

And it only got more intense:

This isn't really "art", but this seems to be the thread most fitting for it. I made the Jamiroquai Buffalo man, and I’ve just finished it today! I'm pretty happy with it, and it was really hard to make...

First I cut out a small buffalo man I printed out from the internet, then got a torch and put a magnifying glass in front of it to project the image...

I bought this big piece of silver mount board last week, which I projected the image onto...

I then drew round the outline…

Then  cut it out (with two thirds knife/one third scissors). It was a real pain in the ass, but here it is finished, and on my closet door...

That would make sense.  The Northwest has Mt. St. Helens erupting, the Southwest had an earthquake a few days ago, and the Southeast was hit by hurricanes for the past month.  The Northeast really needs something.

Taken from the thread I misleadently (is that a word?) started:

I have recently been really bored at school and have been drawing there.  Here is some of my bored-art.  It's not great or neat, but I enjoy it and it keeps me busy.  Most of the time, the drawings have to do with video games.  These involve Mario, Kirby Air Ride, Halo, Tony Hawk, and Nintendo DS.  And 1 not with video games, a tribute to my favorite band, The Hives.

Am I the only one that does 3 dimensional art around here? (Granted, I haven't made a garment for ages, but still. It's in there, waiting to come out...)
Actually, the artist in me wants to do a fashion design degree after I finish this one even more now just by looking in this thread...

I used to want to design cars and buildings. They're 3D..

Turns out I was terrible at drawing 3-point perspective. So here I am doing screen-based stuff.

That's the good thing about fabrics, they're secretly 2D until you sew them together and force your sister to wear them.

Anyway here's a picture I took at Toronga Zoo.

And here's a unfinished drawing.
