If you want emo, have a look at Marr or something.

Also, I just couldn't find any legal MP3s of Systral, which is why I didn't link them. Also, don't forget to add Acme to that list.

I think the Kurt I've heard was the 1996 LP, and that's straight Rites of Spring emo.  In fact, I think they've been called "The German Rites of Spring."

I should freakin practice my German, but all I can remember how to say is "Ich spreche kein Deutsch, aber ich ficke wie eine Nehmaschine."

Yeah, that's probably them. But to me, their music isn't the kind of emo that people nowadays consider emo. It's more aggressive and dischordal, and in case they have whiny lyrics I don't understand them (I don't have a lyrics sheet here). So that's alright with me.

I really have no idea what people mean when they say "emo" nowadays.  It seems to refer to absolutely anything, as long as it's retarded.  So I use the term exclusively in its original, narrow sense, which nowadays seems to be a largely abandoned definition, that is, the sub-genre of hardcore directly influenced by Rites of Spring, etc.  It's a genre I have little to do with.

I was always told emo meant "emotional"....but I took that to mean "any emotion that isn't not sad". Poor choice for a name. I mean, the Beatles were emotional, it a jubilant way, and so are many of those "feel good" bands. They're the new emo. Nemo.

You're probably right about the term "emo" losing its meaning, but I guess nowadays it kind of means rock music that has shifted even further away from the hardcore roots and lost everything dischordal and most complex elements. Think Dashboard Confessional or Alkaline Trio.

As for the original emo: I guess I kind of like that music, though I've never actually heard anything by Rites Of Spring.

And Nemo? That reminds me of Nightwish and thus makes me wanna puke.

Mein Deutch ist sehr schlecht. Ich hoffe, daß du kannst mich verstehen. Meine Schule gibt keine deutche Klasse, so ich Deutch allein lernen muß.Ich habe es für fast ein Jahr gelernt. Es ist ziemlich schwer. Ich haße die Geschlichten und die Wortstellung, aber muß ich es lernen. Meine Wortschatz ist begrenzt, so ich wenig zu sagen habe. Sogar dieser Absatz hat eine halbe Stunde zu schreiben genommen.

Kannt jemand auch dies korrigieren? Bitte?

Now, don't be discouraged by the fact that what you wrote looks very cursive after I'm done with it. German is an incredibly hard language to learn, as a matter of fact, only few Germans - and I'm certainly not one of them - actually speak it flawlessly and with good style, and your German is very good, especially when you consider that you've been learning it on your own for just one year.
By the way, even though what you wrote wasn't correct, every German would have understood what you wanted to say.

Oh, and in case you want to practice your German some more, feel free to post stuff here (or even bother me via e-mail, but I'm a lazy git so it might take some time untill you get a reply).

Heh, the Germans seem to pity everyone who tries to learn their language.
I could have spoken it fluently if I had started learning it much earlier. In many schools it's only mandatory from the 10th grade on, and that's not even everywhere.

Learning German is supposed to be easier for Dutch speakers like myself, but then again it isn't. It's a schizo situation. Because it looks so much like Dutch, the brain goes lazy and mistakes are easily made. It is harder than it looks.

I have to admit that, personally, I don't see the point in learning the german language. I mean, what is it good for? There are only a few little countries where it is spoken, and even in Germany, there are so many different slangs that people don't understand each other (for example, whenever I meet my German internet friends from another message board, they hardly understand a word I say). Also, it sucks. It's complicated, it's senseless and it sounds like coughing up bones. I wish my English was better, because I really prefer that language. It's nice and easy, and you can use EVERY word as a verb, substantive or adjective. It's just great, I like it.

Being an English speaker, I find the English language to be boring, poor-sounding and complicated (although I will admit that it is probably easier to learn than German). I personally find the German language to sound fantastic when spoken by one fluent in it.

Jedenfalls, seit ich keinen Deutschunterricht habe, ich muß Französich machen. Weile nicht eine schreckliche Sprache, es ist zeimlich langweilig. Deutsch ist mir mehr interresant.
Obwohl, eine andere Sache mag ich nicht, das Bewegen des Zeitwort im Nebensatz. Wann sprechen, immer ich vergesse was ich sagen... will. Na ja, genug von meinen Klagen (ist das die Mehrzahl?).

That’s what the French mother tongue people said about English.

We live in Strasbourg and in this province people go often to Kehl a lot to shop for goods that are cheaper in Germany. So Mr Mint understands some colloquial German, although he hardly speaks German. Like the other day we went shopping in Germany and the Lady was asking for postcode from every customer in line. We understood that, the old man in front of us didn't, my husband translated in French for him.

Anyway if we don't understand, we can just ask in English, most of the Germans speak at least some English. Although we had some experiences where we met some Germans, even after they know we don't reside in Germany but continue to speak German with us. 

Edit: Moreover, in the border some German shops hired shop keepers who speak french because they know they have been receiving a lot of French clients often in certain products due to the much lower of price in Germany of these products in comparison to in France. So whichever way communication is not a problem! Hurray, what a bargain!

Which is why we drove over there and filled the complete car with alcohol and then drove home. Even with the fuel money added, it was cheaper.

Petrol and DVD recording machines are cheaper in France too. However blank DVDs are cheaper in Germany, that’s because Germany put tax on DVD recording machines while France put tax on blank DVDs.

Übrigens, (ja ich weiß, ein bisschen spät) wenn du durch meiner Schule spazierengehen, du wirst sehen, dass es das gleiche Problem in Englisch gibt.

Das hängt wieder damit zusammen, dass du im deutschen NICHT einfach ein Wort als Nomen und Verb gleichzeitig benutzen kannst.   ;)

Yeah, from in that context, you have to a bit more creative with the translation, but it is very well possible though you will have to use a verb. Options that could be used in German are:
1. Die Hälfte der Studenten kann kaum Englisch sprechen und sogar dann vergewaltigen sie es. (vergewaltigen = rape)
2. Die Hälfte der Studenten kann kaum Englisch sprechen und sogar dann verstümmeln sie es. (verstümmeln = mutilate)
3. Die Hälfte der Studenten kann kaum Englisch sprechen und sogar dann verschandeln sie es. (verschandeln = blight / mutilate)

Depending on how drastic you want to put it, I would either suggest number three (less drastic but socially more acceptable) or number one (drastic but sounds a lot better than number 2).

Dan... Quit it... You're being totally 1337 about this.

Besides, binary is not a language. It's a numeric system. Someone figured that it'd be useful to have computers calculate stuff that way (and it is, technically), and subsequently, someone decided to stash a shitload of symbols into a chart with a numeric value assigned to them...

So it's no more of a language than when some three year old kids decide to play smartasses and make a super-spy crypto-code like 1=a, 2=b, 3=c, etc.

So really, quit it. We've been through it before, but everyone agreed that it has been tried and should be abandoned.
