I was curious as to where PEELer's go to host their various crap on the net? Do you pay for it? Does it allow hotlinking? I ask because up until now I've used hypermart, but now it is no longer working properly, and I'm looking for somewhere that's both free and allows hotlinking, which narrows down my options considerably.

Ahehehehehe at TMC's. All this use of the word "fuck" has greatly amused me.

Not very reliable or user friendly.. but http://groups.msn.com  have limited picture hosting resources. I use that.. however it's tedious and slow.

I heard http://www.lycos.com  also do free hosting with hotlinking.. but then again kids, it could just be a rumour.

BT Openworld ISP webspace. 50 MBs. Pretty cool, though today for the first time it wouldn't let me upload anything.

My Pipex DSL space, came with the net.

Alltoons.co.uk, host my website

Did use Apache, but it's not really fast enough and took my site down for over a month when my PC crashed.

Hotlinking is blocked unless you sign up to be a premo member. I saw that one earlier.

I use web1000.com for my Pneumatic Potato Power site, villiagephotos.com for random picture hosting, and 50megs.com for my new Fan-fiction hosting.

I use freewebs for sites, and villagephotos for pictures. Both are ok, could be better, but oh well, at least they are free.

You can't hotlink in MSN groups... i use freeservers.com now ever since my last one got screwy ive only been using it for 3 days now but it seems alright... and you get the free plan ad- free for a little while, which you can't complain about... you get to choose a pretty distinct adress... i think mine is something like picwebspace.iwarp.com (I only use it for hotlinking don't bother going there) but its set out like this...
<Anything You want>.<A selection>.com
Its a tad slow, but easy and powerful
Other drawbacks are 0.25mb (i think... might be 0.5mb)
No automatic video/sound
"Cemented" pics in the templates
But i only use it for hotlinking, so its fine for that, and ive got a few friends who use it for webpages and they all say its pretty good...
Hope that helps someone

Web1000.com hosted Fry Online for a bit, but apparently German visitors were getting 404ed to porn adverts.

Same here.  I've got all that space and hardly use most of it.  I guess I just don't have that many interesting pictures to show.

My old universty gave me 500mb.  Made good use of that.   ;)

Engineering servers at my new university don't have space quotas or bandwidth throttles.  The department is small enough that if you're up to no good they'll find out doubleplus quick and rm your account.  I don't know yet how much and what I can get away with.

I use apache on my other computer, it's always on and it's very easy to upload something, I just copy the file to the root dir with windows explorer. My isp offers webspace too, but I haven't had the need of it yet

The only problem with Apache is it's too slow to run a website from your home computer really, some of Margy's pictures take ages to load.

Go download WS FTP (lite).  It's free and works well.  I use it as my graphical FTP client in both operating systems.  (Windows program, but runs VERY well under wine.)
