I've been reading "The Outline of History" by H.G. Wells recently. Got the 1930 edition for 9 bucks off eBay a few months ago. It's slow going, though, because of Work/Girlfriend. Here's my reading list right now: -"The Outline of History" -Finish "The Complete Works of Oscar Wilde" -"The Late Shift" by Bill Carter -"The Decline and Fall of The Roman Empire" by Edward Gibbon -"Tales From Jabba's Place" -"The Complete Works of Edgar Allen Poe" -Part three of the "War of the Ancients Trilogy" when it comes out. -Diablo "The Dark Road" Along with any books I have to read for university this Fall, that should keep me busy till Febuaryish.

So, I started reading "The Mermaid Chair" today. I don't know why, because it didn't seem like something I'd really enjoy, but it's actually turning out to be pretty good. It's one of those books that's so well-written and true-to-life that, even if it doesn't seem like a book you'd be interested in, the story just manages to draw you in anyway. Which is good. I'm about a hundred pages into it, and, while I guess I can't really review a book until I've read it completely, I have a feeling that it won't disappoint me or whatever. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I've read mostly all of Isaac Asimov's robot novels and as well as Karel Capek's play, RUR.
I'm also currently reading the graphic novel, Metropolis, by Osamu Tezuka.

Well, finished reading Half-Blood Prince. I have to say, it was pretty damn good. Not a lot I didn't expect, except for one development with Harry and a certain [Descriptive Phrase is Above Your Security Clearance, Citizen] which seemed, all in all, rather poorly developed. Also, I believe the word "snogging" was used more in this novel than in any other work of fiction ever. I wonder if actual British teenagers say it that much, or if it's just middle-aged kindergarten teachers who think they do.
That's not really a spoiler is it? I'm not telling you who's doing the snogging. It probably is a spoiler to tell you you won't be surprised, at least by the end of the novel.
And finally, for everyone who was as annoyed during the last novel by Emo-Harry, I will tell you that he is replaced by the end of this novel...with Spiderman-Harry. Seriously, the resemblance is uncanny.
Anyhow, I'm not going to post who t3h pr|nc3 is, not even in spoiler tags. Someone else can ruin it for you.

And Krokei I was wondering why the hell British people would say snogg instead of kiss. I'm sure that they said kiss in the other books instead of snogg. And if you try to figure out who the Half-Blood pince is and if you have read all the other books it is most likely you will assume you know who it is. I'm on page 440ish and I can't put the book down.

@ newhook: So cruel, and thus, so incredibly funny. That'll teach people to have faith in mankind!
Anyway, I read "Love Story" the other day. I have no idea why that is--just felt like it, I guess. Feel free to mock me if you wish (it'll save me the trouble of doing it myself).
I can't explain why I like this book so much. I mean, it's kind of corny and runs the risk of becoming one big sap-fest; there's virtually no conflict at all (well, I guess there's a physical one towards the end, but there's no actual conflict between the romantic counterparts); and it's actually pretty anti-climactic, when you think about it. (The first sentence in the book is "What can you say about a twenty-five-year-old girl who died?" I mean, c'mon, people--if you're surprised by how the story turns out, then you should really just stop reading altogether, and live a nice, quiet, simple existence among the goats.)
And, on top of all that, it's not particularly well-written. There are moments of redundancy (and it's hard to tell if they're intentional or not), and there are some half-jokes that come off as more than half-crappy. But, there are some good jokes, and, in the end, you really do feel bad for the guy.
Sure, it's true what they say: if you've read the book, then you've seen the movie (or vice versa), but that makes sense when you consider the fact that Erich Segal wrote his screenplay, then adapted it into this book (the fact that the latter came out first was just a happy coincidence, I guess).
Maybe that's why I can accept some of the flaws in the writing, I don't know. All I really know is that I like the book.
And also that I'm crazy for liking the book.

Why? Why do I keep highlighting these things! Oh well I already know that Snape is the prince. Funny though Newhook. Really funny. I should do that. I'd get in trouble but I'd love to do that. Why should I even consider buying the 6th book. I'm not even done with the 5th. Strictly because it bores me and it's taking me forever to finish.

Godfuckingdamn, Spacedal. Don't complain about reading it if you go and spoil it. Sigh, now I have no reason to read the book. Thanks.
