I live half an hour down the road from one of the most popular seaside resorts in Britain, Blackpool.

My grandparents live in Blackpool. It really is a dump now. Once, the beach actually supported life. Once, the Pleasure Beach was an affordable day out.

Mountains?!? The only mountains I've ever seen in Britain are the white cliffs of Dover, and this is my home country!

Maybe I just don't get out enough

Yeah I really dislike the place a lot. I dont see the big fascination either, but then again I've been brough up next to it so I wouldn't. Its a pretty rough area and like you said, a dump!
The touristy bits can be alright but once you get out of them areas its sucks!   :hmpf:

I thinks its great how people say their home sucks and then someone says 'I've been there! I love it there!' It makes you realise that there are people who actually enjoy being where you are, in a place you take for granted.

I've always lived in the countryside so (to use Futurama_Hil's example) horses are nothing new to me. They pass by the front of my parents house every other day. It's not until I moved out to live in the city that I realised what a different lifestyle it is.

Well, I live in the suburbs of the Bronx- yes there are some suburbs there- and I love it.  About the horses, the only kind you see on a daily basis is parade ones or at a riding school where the closest one is 45 minutes away.  The countryside is just different.

*insert Five Iron Frenzy's "Oh, Canada" here*

Canada. That's the way it's always gonna be. I know a lot of poeple that moved to the states, for professional reasons but don't like it nearly as much as they did above the 49th parallel.

Just like Spice Weasel, I've got the channel that never preempts Futurama (  KCPQ) but will gladly preempt the state of the union address to show thier regualary scheduled programing. And Global is showing it on Saturdays and Sundays.

I can't say I've heard of them - is that a good thing or a bad thing?

They look like wholesome clean cut lads...

I'm from Bristol, Somerset, famous for it's accent and...er...not much else. From what I can remember from primary school, John Cabot set sail from Bristol and discovered North America (or more specifically Canada) - again, I'm not sure if that's a good or band thing  :)

Oh, and Bristol is also home to the world's first suspension bridge (built by Isembard Kingdom Brunel (sp?)), and the SS Great Britain.

Australian Guy, I love in the city/ suburbs of the Bronx, and it is a nice place to live.  It also is fun to visit, but not as fun as Mannhatten!

I was born in Weston-Super-Mare, on the west Somerset coast. It's a very popular tourist resort, especially on saturdays. By my standards, the beach is horrible and you can get a fake tan just by stepping into the sea! That's something I don't advice, a girl died in the mud at a beach near it. I know that John Cleese, Jeffery Archer and Jill Dando were born here, and Roald Dahl used to be a teacher at one of the schools. I think the first broadcast to the USA was made here or something, by Marconi (sp...).

I'm from Cologne, Germany.

Check out our beer, when you're around.
In case you visit Cologne sometime, I strongly recommend to NOT come in February because in that month it can happen that you'll get into the street carnival where everyone older than twelve goes nuts and gets drunk.
