This Thread is for any PEELer who wishes to review a game of his or her Choice.I'll start it off with a double review.

Cossacks the Art of War

V.S

Age of Empires 2:The Age of Kings (Plus expansion pack)

These two games are the best I have ever played lets start the review.

Graphics:
Cossacks:Puff,Smoke..blood!!!..Cossacks wins this one. It's very detailed when you see a Howitzer shell go off.The amount of units on the map and no lag amazes me.10.10

Age of Empires 2:Sadly the graphics feel flatter than Cossacks but the Units are larger and more detailed.Plus when a Unit dies you can see them rot away..which in Cossacks they don't.

*Sound
Cossacks:Cossacks has over 20 differant national anthems that are better than C and C Techno crap.Plus the Drums,Bag pipes and Musket recoils have a great effect that your there at the battle.

Age of Empires 2:Sadly you'll find yourself screaming with rage as the music loops for 200th time. But the SFX's are alot better..but are also annoying.
Best bit

Cossacks:Building a Giant fully formated army.

Age of Empires:Watching you army march in a formation.

Cossacks wins Hands down.
Age of Empires:*bold-text*

They're pretty old games to be reviewing...

Anyway, how many different threads does video gaming warrant?

I wonder if there are any restrictions because this can turn into a flame war quickly, faster after I post my review of Final Fantasy 7 vs Fallout 2...

Well you asked for a review in the Best moments 2 threas so here goes.

Well the gameplay hasn't changed a lot. It's still the same basic stuff. The controls are identical to GTA 3 as well. There's one new command. L3 makes you crouch. The game looks
great, with lots of detail on everything.
So what's new? Well there are motorcycles in it. You can even stand up while riding on them, and do wheelies. If you're hot satisfied with your hideout, then you can buy other properties. You can shoot people inside their cars as well.
Some missions require you to get a new outfit. A murder at a golf course needs you to change into hideous golf clothes.
The main change is how everything is so much bigger. There are 5 islands,  more hours of radio, about 100 cars and about 40-50 weapons.
The game lets you be much more sadistic than before. A mission needed you to kill a pizza delivert boy on a bike.

Step 1: Chase him in a car.
Step 2: Ram him off.
Step 3: Pin his body with the car.
Step 4: Shoot the tyres on his bike.
Step 5: Let him get back on his bike. Let him go.
Step 6:  Count to 60.
Step 7: Finish him off.

I conclusion, if you liked GTA 3, then you have to get this game. If you didn't like GTA 3 (freak!) then avoid this.

Happy noe Fazey?

I give you my review of:

This game is based on the plot of the typical'My father is-a deeed,I keeeeel you for keeeeling him-a' Gangsters revenge. It's Good points are hiring Gangsters and useing there many abilitys.Thats where it ends.Let me explain the one player game first. We start off hearing Joey 'Bane''s uncle telling him he has to kill the guy was in charge of shooting his father and him.Lets get to the Baisics. You start off with Joey and some other Generic Gangster. You hire 4 'Muscle' (Bodyguards) and wait for the slabs of meat to arive.Get in the Car and drive to the points where the Cronie's of the guy you have to hit are alone.Kill them and there own Muscle.Go back to your office and heal up your Muscle and Gangsters.Get back in car and repeat action with the other two.Dig..?..the first 7 Missions consist of capture and kill which drives you insane with bordom. On level 8 you have to Kidnap the Kidnapped brother of the Mayor from another rival gang. This is timed like other missions. The timing gets frustrating after awhile. Now here comes the singer.Like in any other game 1 player gets boring and you want to do something else.Well guess what...there is NO Skirmish option.Nope,The only other way is to pay online and get charged cash.

GraphicsGangsters 2 pins down the 'roaring' 20's.With the usal early cars,Panima hats and unattractive whores.Like in many games with small people you can not see there faces. The only violence is blood seeping from Bodys you have shot.

Don't let the perdy pictures fool you!!
Sound:Like most games there is only 1 music track and it loops,at least it stops in Cossacks unless you choose the loop option. The screams and gunfire SFX get so tiring you'd find yourself turning the sound off.

Best bit:Blowing the Police Station up with dynamite.Thats keeping it 'real' in 'the hood'.

Bah,Boring..lets look at the cartoons...

It gets 5 PEEL Logo's out of 10.

i wont review diablo2 since its too old now, theres plenty of good reviews of it already.

ill throw in one however regarding the relativly new...

MS Age of Mythology

Basically, when you you hear "Microsoft Age of.." you immediately begin to think of MS's previous successful titles called Age of Empires 1 and 2. The engine of Age of Empires has since its introduction been used in other games as well such as "star wars: galactic battlegrounds" but only with minor improvements and modifications. In Age of Mythology however, its characteristics still remain, but this time the improvements are many. For example, the grid has been more or less removed, allowing buildings to be places with pinpoint accuracy and walls to stretch in any angle, not just vertical/horizontal/diagonal like before. Another significat change is of course increased graphics quality, although this is more or less taken as a granted these days.
The interface from Age of Empires however, remain mostly the same, so players from that game will instantly recognize him-/herself.

Whats new?

Age of Mythology featuers not a whole slew of different civilizations with only minute differences, but only 3: Greek, Egyptian and Norse. Each of these civilizations units and buildings naturally has similar counterparts with each other, but the distinctiveness in civs does not lie in normal units here. it lies with the mythical creature units that can be summoned at each civilizations temple which are indeed mythical creatures of history such as the Greek Minotaur and Medusa. Each civilization also has other differences such as the Egyptian ability to make healing priests (unlike the greek which can only heal the injured by choosing the correct minor diety in a "tech upgrade", discussed later). To produce the mythical creatures, each civ much generate a new resource called "favor". This is simply enough a measurement on how much youe particular diety wants to help you, and each civ produces favor in a different way. The Greek prays in Temples, The Egyptians construct Great monuments and the Norse Fight enemies for favor. With the addition of this new "resource", stone has been scrapped. Only gold, wood and food remain, each produced exactly like before. Food production has been simplified yet again however, Farms now never have to be rebuilt as well as fishing spots now never runs out of fish (although you cannot build extra fish pens like before). The process of "trading" for gold has changed a bit. Now you target one of your village centers with your caravan, and it will return with gold to the market. There is no longer any need for allies to "trade" for gold.
Another new thing is that you can only produce 10 houses at max, and new town centers can only be placed on certain spots called "settlements" which each map contains a finite nuber of. Fortunately each town center increases the population limit with the effect of two houses and there is only the limit on how many settlement spots as to how many town centers you can build, so controlling these sites is key to get an advantage in army size over your enemy.

The way to advance in the "ages" has changed as well. Now you pick a major god as an initial diety to worship and then you may choose from any two minor gods for each "age advance" in the town center. Each god comes with their own set of perks and researchable items for your civ as well as their own unique myth unit. Choose any god that suits your current strategy as the game progresses to customize your civilization in-game.

Graphics: 9
nothing short of excellent. The engine has been tweaked to its fullest and it shows. The terrain looks awesome and the seas look truly alive. The intro movie however could use a mechanical overhaul since it lagged on my comp (a 1,4 mhz, 256 mb ram). Never before has a movie lagged on this machine. It doesnt lag in-game at all however so i will only substract 1 from the otherwise perfect 10.

Audio: 8
Good, no big complaits. I did notice however a minor glitch in the voiceover playback in cinematic scenes that caused the sound to jump at the end of each sentance, but this may be a local error. Perhaps reducing hardware sound acceleration will do the trick? (still, that shouldnt have to be needed)

Gameplay: 8

The interface is simple, and very much alike the one used in Age of Empires 2 so players of that game should get into the game very easily. Well into the game, the in game campaign progresses very well with a good plot and believeable events. All around, good.

Value: 8

This game introduces a slew of new features from its predecessor AOE2, and is definitely worth getting for anyone that liked AOE2. If you did not like it, then i doubt you would get much out of AOM since it basically is a Age of Empires III at heart   ;)

Diablo II is a great game, Diablo II LOD is more of a mixed bag. But if you want to play on Battle.Net you have no choice but to buy LOD. Like Static said, there are plenty of good reviews on the net. If you wanna meet nice Diablo II gamers, try www.lurkerlounge.com  or www.theamazonbasin.com

Scorched Earth
, the mother of all artillery lobbing games   :) Introduced in 1987, it's still highly addictive! Basically, it's just a couple of tanks blasting away at each other. You only need to know how to use the arrow keys and the return key to play (at first!). Using the up and down arrows, you control the power of your gun's blast. Using the left and right arrows control the angle of the blast. Then you hit return, launch your weapon, and try to blow up the other tanks. That's basically it. But when you learn to use all the available weapons and accessories, and bring some friends in for a multiplayer game... That's five hours of fun right there for you!

Good job, Ricky. A friend of mine and I have been on a semi-big Scorched Earth kick for the past few weeks. I don't need too many fancy weapons though. Just give me a few MRV's(or whatever they're called) and I will kick anybody's ass.

I've been playing Civ III for one week now, and I am still trying to get the hang of it. My friend has it, he says that the computer's defenses seem to be endless compared to his. You can make friends with other world leaders, or you can backstab 'em and loot their stuff. I was hoping to kick ass with integrated defense missles on medieval barbarian tribes, but advancing thru the game was a lot harder than I thought.

Gameplay
It's a great game if you're into strategy/management stuff like Simcity. You choose a culture, start building cities, and as you learn more technologies, the stuff you can build changes over time. Interface takes a bit getting used to, especially the city views. And you might get confused when your turn's over and forgot which of your units you left idle.

Graphics
The terrains look pretty detailed, and so are the defense units you build. Each army looks different, depending on which culture you took. The detailed views of the cities are also spectacular, though most of mine didn't have many buildings (guess I'm not good at building cities)

Audio
Nothing earth shattering, but the sound effects are used very effectively with the events.

Overall: 7/10
