Does anyone know why Leela was designed to apparently wear lipstick 24/7 (even in bed)? Amy only wears lipstick for formal occasions or dates, but Leela is always wearing it.

She doesn't necissarily wear it all the time. It seems like she's just one of the only characters to have their lips drawn all the time. Compare this picture to any other of her and most of them look the same color as the unfinished part of her mouth.  Alternatly, she's just always been drawn that way so they did it all the time becuase she would look kinda strane without it. As evidenced by fryandlemon here. quote:
