It was an interesting episode, and Bender as a fembot was pretty funny. It probably wouldn't have worked if he'd changed permanently, but then that, on the part of both the character and the writers, was never the plan.I guess if they ever did an episode where the crew runs into their selves from a gender-reversed universe (a la Red Dwarf), it'd be neat to have 'Coilette' make a reappearance. Otherwise, that's that. ------------------ Fry: He was a good man, Leela. Leela: Yeah...you were. - Bender's Big Score

I thought he made a rather convincing fembot in an athletic, tomboy sort of way. What I thought was most interesting about the episode is that Bender interpreted females from a very male chauvenist perspective, so he created the ideal woman based on what he thinks men want women to be like. It was not at all what actual women want, as we saw how disgusted Amy and Leela were by his behavior since it was not at all an accurate portrayal of most women and fembots... and yet male robots were attracted to him because he fit their fantasy ideal of how fembots were supposed to be. It did bring some interesting ideas on how popular stereotypes unfortunately play a big role in how men see women and vice versa

Bender as Coilette was awesome. i love Bender just the way he is though but His portrayal of the his ideal woman was funny. If he met a gril like that I have no clue what he'd do.

The funniest bit in that ep is John DiMaggio's delivery of the line "Men really like it when ya GLAWB IT ON!" Oh, and the hilarious "Gay Guy & The Ghost" story on the commentary track.

Kinda but not totally. Well, I thought Coilette was funny as hell. That would be a great character for them to meet in like a parabox so that everyone meets them selves as the opposite sex, like THM said.

That was one of the best things on any of the commentaries and I agree that it could make a great sit-com

What, in Futurama terms, is a fembot anyway?I'm assuming that both of the following are essential: - Shape is approximately humanoid and incorporates several of the secondary sexual characteristics of human females
- Stereotypicaly 'female' persona (emotions, attitudes, outlook, etc).
I.e. Monique (Calculon's TV wife) is presumably a fembot (though she is never referred to as such, as far as I am aware) while The Crushinator is not. Nor, I'm guessing, is the robot that gives Fry a lapdance, pink feather boa notwithstanding. That can't be the whole picture though because in Bend Her a simple oil change seems capable of permanently transforming Bender into a fembot (even though he was only faking a feminine appearance, so technically didn't qualify for one of the points above) and yet in Fry and the Slurm Factory he is appalled when the Zee-ray reveals that he took to be a fembot was NOT what it appeared (even though it seemed to qualify for both of the points above). Is this one of those things, like race, which everyone understands but can't actually be defined in technically precise way? Or does the application of the term change to suit the needs of the story? Or am I over fantasizingthinking all this? What do you guys/gals think? Hey! That's a neat idea for a poll: Who is the sexiest robot in Futurama? - Hobbitboy Cat: Well, I think in all probability, Wilma Flintstone is the most desirable woman that ever lived. Lister: That's good. I thought I was goin' strange.

The key difference between manbots and fembots is that fembots are capable of being upgraded into one of these, after which her companion manbot can contribute his source code to the design plans. Note that fembots should not be confused with feminist bots. Feministbots are the ones who have been trying to eliminate the role of the manbot in the installation processes of the newly constructed, as a result of which more and more manbots are adopting the independent Playbot mode, thus destroying the integrity of the nuclear family plants, which will probably suffer meltdown in the near future and drive the automaton model into extinction.------------------ Smoke me a kipper; I'll be back for breakfast.

At risk of starting a "Gender War;"Bender changed his sex (and one might argue his gender started to change too), he did not change his core personality! Coilette was, as you say, conniving, schemeing, etc, - and was taking Calculon for everything he was worth - until... 'Bender' did not suddenly grow a conscience. 'Coilette', evidently, hadn't the heart to so greviously hurt Calculon - presumably as an unforseen (by Bender, at least) consequence of the sex-change. Coilette was Bender. If anyone needs me, I'll be in the shop putting a fresh coat of 'dusty-rose' laquer on my digits...

Bender is scheming & devious. Bender as Coilette was scheming & devious, but in a "gold digging" way. Bender didn't change, he just changed the manner in which he was looking to take advantage & steal from others...
