Yup, I like that, too.  It would actually be nice to have her comment on that in an episode.  When you think of all the physical things he has done like trekking in the Himalayas, outrunning pursuing enemies, kicking robots into freezer tubes... he is actually pretty athletic.  The main thing is he would sit around on the sofa all day, but Leela inspires him to go outside and enjoy life.

Haha!  I hadn't even noticed that!  It's true.  Fry can usually keep up with Leela when they're running away from something, and he has been capable of heavy labour in the past (A Pharoah to Remember).  He's just lazy..

That's true. One thing to take into consideration though is that many of the times when they're running it's because they're running from something. I've heard of people running for miles on end at full speed because their life was on the line. It's amazing what people can do when they really have too.

All this recent, lovely Fry and Leela artwork is amazing!  Thanks for sharing!  There is some brilliant stuff out there!

@Frisco17- you are right in that ye olde adrenaline kicks into play when your life is in danger.  I just am impressed that Fry seems to have better than normal abilities to outrace the foes.  He should have been dead by now, but he keeps having the stamina and willpower to impress me.  I like it- nerds unite!

@Ralph Snart- thanks for your life experiences.  It is nice to see that guys out there value women who are not 8 foot tall, 15 pound fashion models with perfect hair extensions.  Nice to see that there are guys out there still who like athletic healthy women, even if we do not look like Kate Moss.  And we also admire healthy guys who look more realistic than the metro sexual image that is out there!  I wish you and your lady the best of happiness...

I hope this isn't an "inappropriate" question or anything...

According to Fry's ex-lovers, he was pretty "meh" in bed.  Will he be any different with Leela, the only woman (that I could see) that he really loves?

Not initially, anyway.

But (in my opinion) he's not so much stupid (i.e. incapable of learning) as immature and lazy. Given the right motivation and an encouraging & supportive environment there's no reason why he couldn't... er, "up his game" (so to speak).   ;)

About Fry and sex:

Somehow, women have this idea that men automaticly know how to satisfy a woman.  There may be that one guy in a group who cn go to a strange woman and satisfy her needs and want.  More often it take a few meeting before both are comfortable enough with each other to know what the other needs and wants.

The mechanics of sex are easy: Insert, turn 47 degrees, engage rotor.  The complexities of knowing what each other want and need is a totally different thing.

Fry probably got his info about sex from the losers he hung out with in the 20th century and has never had a woman to "teach" him the "right way".

Also, how good would Leela be?  She carries so much mental and emotional bagage it's doubtful she would be able to trust a man enough to allow herself to "release" herself and be satisfied until she had been with the same guy several times and learned to trust him.

Also, it would be distracting for a guy to be "doing" a woman with one cantalope sized eye and purple carpet and drapes...

Nyes...it's all down to practice. Would they really care how good each other was in bed? They are adults after all..they should know there's always more time to practice. Practice that doesn't get boring like learning to play piano. Exhausting, but never boring.

Surely if Leela's occular configuration and/or her hair color(s) haven't been a turn-off for Fry up till now, its hard to see why they would suddenly become an issue once they begin the doing of the nasty.

Anyway, there's always the light switch.

Its true,. which is why I don't particularly trust casual sex. Took my three years to figure out what Chris wanted... Yeah, I'm dense.  :laff:

I get the bit about the rotor and the insert but, 47 degrees? Is that rotation about a shaft or angle of entry?

Purple drapes! I've always wanted purple drapes! *squeal* [/Flanders]

In my experience men don't really take notice of anything other than the fact they're about to get laid, which seems to be a turn-on, so I concur. Although I am generalising.

Well, speaking as a man, it's funny the sort of things you'll notice when you're at that point. Like, when my wife had a little pimple on her forehead once, right at the hairline. It was unnoticeable at any other time time but you try staring at it for 15 minutes and see how concentrated you feel.

Now I'm starting to sound like JD. Stupid Scrubs...

Pfft. That'd never happen to cartoon characters..

No... the awkward moments are the most beautiful.  It's more important to love a person enough to embrace them completely as they are and in the process learn their everything.

You'd be suprised. You try telling a girl who's hitting on you that you never want to have sex, and that you're only prepared to engage in any form of relationship with her knowing that.

Now, you might want to append to this with the fact that you're a suprisingly bitter individual, along with the knowledge that the handsome man across the room has had his eye on her constantly for the last twenty minutes and that her luck will probably be much better with him.

I'm going to find Xan's home, take a syrine of testosterone and inject him, then take him out to a meat market.

Yeah, I'm mean that way...

Still, I have to take exception that somehow it's humorous to state that a guy isn't a great lover while nothing is ever said about women being being less-than-fantastic.

Now in Amy's case, she had several dozen to hundreds of encounters to have a baseline on judging guy's skills, but you can be sure she has had men a lot older than her - these guys have experience on their side.  She has obviously gotten tired of loveless sex, thus she picks the wimpiest character in the known universe to marry.

Then there's Leela.  She places value on external factors on whether a man is sexy or not.  She's hung up on power and status a la the Mayor's Aid, Adlai the Doctor, her dream husband, the Senator, Zapp (Captain of the DOOP Flagship) before she learned the true meaning of the word "hatred".  Alkazar doesn't count because she was going to marry him out of duty rather than love.  We won't mention the only long-term relationship known to us that she's had (other than to Lars) - to the ghostly Sean.  His power over her was that he was musically inclined - she found that side of Fry interesting as long as he had The Devil's Hands, after he lost them, she obviously lost interest in him.  (I won't go into another diatribe about how self-centered and shallow Leela is, everybody knows how I feel about her.)  We have no way of knowing if she had sex with Lars - she was going to but her apartment got destroyed before they got the chance.

So, even though Leela is maybe 5-6 years older than Amy, Amy is a lot more mature than Leela in a lot of ways.

Okay shippers, put that in your pipe and smoke it!

I agree with you Ralph. Amy is more mature. She knows basically what she's looking for and it's attainable. She has realized that she wants love. What Leela wants is unattainable or she only focuses in what she can see right away and the person has to be somewhat powerful or important.

Please don't start another diatribe about Leela.

Maybe amy is more mature in that respect, but in a lot of ways she has a lot of growing up to do.

Also, I don't think Leela stopped being interested in Fry the second he couldn't play his instrument... in the first holophoner instance (Parasites Lost), Fry immediately becomes an ignorant jerk instantaneously with his inability to play; I think the ignorant jerk part is the biggest reason he was told to leave.  And in the other instance (The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings) she's the only one that stays to finish the opera.... If that were really the case, you'd think BBS wouldn't have started out the way it did... but whatevs.

But I don't think that Fry was trying to be a jerk. He wanted to do something for her with out the worms. It's not his fault that he assumed that bringing up massaging an ex was intelligent he doesn't think.

True Leela did stay to see then but that could have been her trying to make him feel less bad. We never do see her reaction to it so it's all gues work. I do think that Leela finally did get the point but we never saw any development from TDHAIP to BBS.

If the Futurama team had used the original script that Frida Waterfall provided the synopsis of, the DVD would have been a better fit with the series.  There were no nude alien scammers, the time travel crap wasn't as convoluted and other things "fit" the Futurama Universe better.

As it progressed, it was "tweaked by committee" making the whole thing a huge mess.  It felt like an episode that should have gone for about 45 minutes stretched out for 88 minutes.

Anyway, at least I keeping an open mind for BWABBs.  The animaniac from the Best Buy disk was far more interesting than anything BBS had to offer.  Even seeing Leela's naked ass and sideboob shots weren't that interesting to me after watching the movie.

those won't be running around for awhile now.....

And Leela seems to think those things make him more interesting too... See BBS for examples.

The Delta brainwave might be something that helps sentient creatures parse information relating to time.... Fry's lack of the brainwave could mean that he lives in a constant uncertain state unaware of the nature of linear events.  To Fry, every instant is the same instant.
