It probably helps that we've moved away from each other.

Yup, that is my experience as well. I was the oldest as well (and very much like Fry in personality but more motivated and organized 'cuz I had to be as the oldest in a proper Brit-American family) and my siblings came behind me by just a few years. I was definitely a Fry type person. My mom was in a car accident as a passenger when she was 8 months pregnant with me. I stopped developing after that and so I was born at 9 months but way underdeveloped. It took me years to catch up with my age group, so I was always saying idiotic Fry things I never meant to say that made me the kicking post of my siblings and the kids at school. IQ wise I tested very high, but I did not have the coordination or common sense so I came across as a moron even though I was secretly the kid my classmates came to when they needed intellectual advice. My sister especially was hard on me because she hated that I was the oldest (she wanted to be the oldest) and I did not deserve to be the oldest since I was so obviously "idiotic" and clumsy so she was always beating me up and locking me up in places and then pretending she had no idea she was locking me up. By high school she changed her view of me since the sibling rivalry did not matter anymore. There were teachers who liked both her and me and no rivalry involved. So she dropped the rivalry and we finally started to become sisters and friends. She grew up to be a very wonderful, kind hearted lady and it touched me that she apologized to me a few years ago about how she treated me when we were kids.
I just mention it because Phil and Yancy had that kind of sibling/pecking order stuff; it's not abnormal. Regardless of the "Luck of the Fryish" or "Bender's Big Score" we know one way or another that Yancy did love Phil very much and got over his sibling rivalry to acknowledge that. I personally like the Luck of the Fryish view that he realized it only after he lost the chance to ever meet Phil again. It makes his recognition of how much Phil meant to him seem that much sweeter... and, yes, I apologize for being a newbie (noob) , but that is what I am.

It's exactly the same for me except the movie away part. I get ganged up on by everyone. I don't know why. I'm stuck here until I can afford and am ready/ have friends who are willing get my/our own place. I am the oldest but my famly treats me as if i am Fry like (I don't think, I'm clumsy all that Fry jazz but I don't show my intellegence as much as i should because it make people mad) and my little brother or sister is more Yancy like (they are basically perfect everyone loves them because they are not weird.) but If I get something my brother or sister want they automatically assume that they deserve it.

Hurray for common childhood woes! XD Although, aside from a shared interest in science fiction, I don't have much in common with Fry. I was more of a "Lisa Simpson" type (she was my role model when I was in elementary school... which explains a lot in retrospect). I was that overachieving student that so many kids seem to loathe, and I always worried that my siblings hated me for it as well, but if it was a point of conflict I never heard them mention it; they seemed to despise my nerdish nature more. I think I just embarrassed them.

And that is why LotF is my favorite episode: because when I first saw it, it gave me hope. We get along nicely for the most part now, so all's well that ends well.

I would like to point out that I can't find anything remotely "noobish" about your post and that you probably don't need to apologize.

I'm taking notes.

My brother was always competing with me to be the better one, pretty much because he wanted to be the eldest. He couldn't be that, so he became the tallest instead. Everything I did, he had to do better because, at some level, he must have thought this would make him the eldest. Kids... anyway when I got into computers, he got into them more. When I buy a car, he buys a better car. He got his driving license first, went snowboarding when I merely expressed an interest in it, joined the terries when I expressed an interest in maybe joining the RAF... Then when I got a swedish wife, he went to Paraguay...

Being the eldest with a competitive younger brother. Blech.

I lived there for many years, and thought it was the best place to live. Then I moved to Washington, and realized I just didn't have anything to compare it to; life up here is so much better. Given a choice between California & Washington, I'll vacation in California every now & then, but I'll live in Washington.

With gradiants of measure & mathematical numbers, no less. There's a greater Ninaka, a lesser Ninaka, a negative Ninaka, the square root of Ninaka, integrals & differentials of Ninaka...

[*Sigh*]

Allow me to say this a plainly as possible: "B" is a letter, not a number; a letter.
Yes, it is used in Hexidecimal notation to represent a number.
Why?

  1. Because our decimal numeration system does not have a one symbol for "11," and:
  2. Standard human beings do not have sixteen fingers!

Yes and no. Math for math's sake is evil there I agree. Math for other (usually distructive) purposes is usefull.

That said, I will speak no more of this math. I demand a return to something resembling relevence!
