Jurrasic Bark pictures aye? I spose I could, though I have already done one based on Parasites Lost...

Yeah, that picture was rather dark, but it sets the scene well. Don't worry, the worms help him regain after he was hit by that f-ray.

Coldy; I've got proposal to make to you (chill, nothing about marriage,) I have an Xmas story that I want proof read/edited and illustrated by you... if you want to.

You wanna do it? I thought it might make it enhanced and bigger and better. Just for the fun of it?

Fry looks odd with boots, he's just a sneakers kind of person.
Goth is so miserable though, it's a fun style but the emo side to it just seem wrong. It's just a way of attention seeking.

Heeey, well done!

Of course, CA. I see goth as a style - mostly of clothing, and some meanings (uch as in the movie 'The Crow' and the like if you know wht I mean), I don't care about the people that try to practice it.

Remember the Goth kids in Southpark - that summed it up all. But they looked kinda cool - from a distance.  :D

The power of the artist is to be able to juggle his art no matter what the subject, especially to detach from him/herself and be ale to also draw things he/she detests at times. This has happened so many time in history with great artists (and not only). Think of Michelangelo (as a quick example) and the things the Pope made him do. Genius work, but he hated it - he wanted to sculpt, the Pope made him paint, and so on..

So there, my young Michelangelo  ;)

Fry_b, me sowy, me no do it no more, kinda got carried away buddy, I agree with you, it just not that nice out here.

Marriage these days is just like a really big booze up, with two whole families getting to know each other, there the typical bad dancing and music that your old folks listened to, though some of it aint bad, there normally one or two that we can relate to. Just one big party with some mushy stuff at the start that these days it seems that it doesn't mean very much. Of all the weddings I've been to, I think only 5 couples are still married after ten years, and about two after twenty.

Maybe we should change the whole thing?

We all know that yes, sometimes it is meaningfull and everlasting (a rareity), but most times it don't mean shite. Divorce was pretty much unheard of in the past (like 100 years ago) and these days almost no-one marries for love. My step-sister married because she was pregnant, then got divorced 8 years later explaining how she never loved him, with the house, the kid, and both cars, She's such a bitch, I feel that what the man had before he was married should remains his after they divorce, he had loads of stuff and a good life, now he works all the time and lives in a crummy flat.

What would it be like if Fry n Leela got hitched though? Of course Bender would be the best man, but they don't have much family, and few true friends, other than all of us o'course. I haven't worn a suit in ages. What should I give em as a wedding gift?

It would be a small intimite affair I think. Traditional chapel, somewhere in the countryside if there is any countryside left in the future. The Planet Express crew would attend; Scruffy on bagpipes. Leela's parents would be given surface passes of course.
Bender - best man, as you say. Amy as a bridesmaid.
Much to his private disgust, Nibbler would be made to carry the ring fastened to hs head with a pink ribbon.
At the reception, the Professor would give a stirring speech wishing the happy couple well, then halfway through he'd lose track of what's happening and start ranting about giant robot spiders powered by cellular telephone radiation.

Okay, for some reason that makes me think of the first time that they had become friends... I hope they don't get married in the sewers.

It should be on the rooftops at nighttime so they can see the stars and fireworks. And it should be on New Years Eve, that way they don't have to pay for the fireworks.

If they do get married, it will disgust me less if they have it quiet and small. Otherwise it'd be like they were trying to be show offs trying to have the bestest party of the year proving to everyone how in love they are because they got the biggest cake and most expensive decorators or whatever it is they have these days. I hear ya, same here (re Black and motorcycle, we have no snow here  :( ) What do you ride, stranger  :) For now I do a GPX 250 (for 7 yrs now!), but got fed up and just got my licence for unlimited ccs. Maybe I do a pic with the Death By Snoo-Snoo T-Shirt on that bike - it is black and red so it goes well with my soul (just like another thread says). It depends on whether fans request it  :D

Now where's that ep in Futurama where Fry Leela & Bender ride a space scooter ? I see the T-Shirt, but I have not seen it in an episode. ?

'Disgust' you less? So marriage discusts you? And will you pass that view to your pupils? Will you be happy if they never marry as a result?

Meh, I'm being mean but you use big words here. I'd say 'not care' is good enoug - 'disgust' is really too much, let people do what they want as long as it's good clean...life.

My Gen (X) appears to still marry and have babies, irrespective of their location - or maybe it's just how we choose our friends? Yep, some are gay but still they marry and... adopt.

So try to ditch that disgust - keep it for really ugly stuff I would say. [AUS]Such as John Howard for example - that little glassed piece of ...[/AUS]

[@FENIX]
And FENIX, each generation has bastards and bitches, I'm sure. I've got examples too. It is just what the statistics are like... BTW in divorce AFAIK njormally stuff is split (see TKOS) - if yours truly got everything something must have been the cause (maybe he just said 'take it all bitch  :))

It wasn't meant so deeply. It's just that I find the 'glamour' that people bring into the marriage ceremony does make me cringe. If it's supposed to be between two people...why are a hundred other people they're never going to see again there?

As for my pupils, they can express their views to me as much as I can express mine to them. Neither of us has to believe in what the other believes, but we all might learn something from each other (even if it's just the fact that some people have views we don't agree on  :laff: ). After all, teaching is a part of learning.
Besides, I'm quite sure there will be students I come across over the years who will have bigger problems than whether they want to marry or not.  :hmpf:

Oi, oi, she's alright. Don't go questioning her professional integrity. I know any1else personally, and she is above reproach.
She teaches the kids reading writing and arithmatic, in a very progressive and effective manner. Matrimonial values are the domain of the parents and nothing to do with her. There's few imaginable scenarios where it would even come up, but even if it did Mazzie's very sensible and professional and knows that in the work environment her views are left at the door.
But teachers are allowed to have views like everyone else. This forum is not a work environment and she should be free to express said views without being accused of unsuitability to her job.
Disagree with her personal views if you like, but there's no call to be making any inferrences about her career. That ain't fair. It's actually an enermous insult, the suggestion that she would go passing off her personal views... it's actually an accusation of negligence, which is a very serious matter in professional education and the comment from both of you is obviously unfounded as neither of you have met the woman - this scrapes toward defamation.
If folk started suggesting that I was unfit for my job in any way there'd be no end to the brutal backlash that would follow... Mazzie, on the other hand, is a very passive soul and will certainly shrug it off. Still, I'm rather protective of her.

Woah, I meant no offense at all. I was just referring to where she says "As for my pupils, they can express their views to me as much as I can express mine to them. Neither of us has to believe in what the other believes, but we all might learn something from each other".

This implies that she does express her views? And this is fine with older students. Because in the senior years of high school, it's great to have a debate with your teacher over a controversial issue. But I know when I was in primary school, I took everything my teachers said as fact, no matter what it was.

I am sure Maz is a fantastic teacher, I have no doubt in my mind.

And I definitely don't have a problem with Maz expressing her views here.

T'will be the younger ones..but kids under 12 have opinions too. At least if they're aware that there are other ways of thinking about things, they have the chance to decide for themselves what they want to think. I would never try to force my own beliefs on them, what I said was only a general thing, say if something comes up in class. Kids do brings these things up themselves (not exactly the same as what we're all on about here, it could be any issue), and they will argue between themselves. I need to be prepared for that. I'd prefer not to change the subject, if they're arguing/discussing it it's obviously relevant to them and therefore the perfect learning opportunity. Eeew...I'm supposed to be on holidays.  :p They'd barely hear anything from me, it'd be their own ideas, and research...if they get into it. It's all about investigating and creativity these days...figuring things out for yourself. I wish my curiosity for things had been scaffolded.  :( The point is, if they ask for my opinion, I'm not going to lie, but I'll be clear that it is only my opinion...and I'd only answer to a point I felt was apt for their level of questioning.

*shrugs it off* ..Wait, I did do some clearing up...but that was also to make a point that kids only believe what you say if you don't give them more options. But since that's not really on topic anyway...
I guess it could be on topic...Fry and Leela need to know there is thought behind what the other does, and if they can only come up with one possible reason, e.g "Fry's only doing these things because he wants sex" then their actions will be detrimental to them getting together.

Scaffolded, eh? Is this one of the new-fangled terms? Heh... been a long time since I was a teacher. A looooooong time. So long than I never was one at all.

Leela should have known at the end of Parasites Lost that he's not just after sex... because he could have had her every which way from dusk til dawn if he'd wanted, but instead opted to go all emotional about it. And we commend him for that, even while silently shaking our heads and clicking our tongues....

I lost my post just now (a sigh of relief in the audience) but Cyber's post has everything I intended to say. So I second that.

Also, I commend Mrs. S for coping Joel's flak that was probably aimed at me (since I threw the pebble that started the tsunami). Interestingly though, no-one appears to realise my initial post also contained a 'Meh, I'm being mean'. So it was deliberately provocative to spark debate.

Not every way... not from the first time... it's not like Leela. Holophoner and all.

The question that I would ask in the Son of a DD thread to all males would be something like: Would you have done what Fry did in the first bedroom scene in PL?

I know eh... But...from the POV of Leela...she could have felt rejected...like she wasn't good enough for him to be at his best for. But if it were me, I would have thought he was at his best before the damn parasites...well, maybe not. I can't really tell since I'm not a part of that world. Aww, I'm not The Little Mermaid. Close to it though, I got red hair..just no tail. And nobody will understand this reference so I don't know why I'm making it. Or they will understand it but they'll be all "whatcha gone and referenced a kids' movie for Maz?" and I'll be all "I'll show you going back in time!" then we'll see who has first choice of chicken.
But I don't even like chicken.  :( Oh what a mess...
