Hello, eviljester, welcome to PEEL: Enjoy your stay here at nerd-world. Don't forget to read the FAQ. quote: Originally posted by eviljester: But whether you love or hate her, please i'd like to know.
Directly, she is not one of my favourite chracters, nore do I really like her. She may be an interesting charcter, but not realy meant to be loved. Even if here or there you sometimes can notice a "soft core behind the cold shell". So, interesting, but not a character I like ...If you are interested in Mom, you may would like too see these threads: "Mom or Mr.Burns, who is the most evil", "Mom episodes", "Best Mom Quote" and "MOM...IS...NOT...MR...BURNS!!!". ------------------ Click-able signature-picture below! Thanks for the welcome LesbianLeela and those threads are very interesting. I found particular interest in the 'Mom is not Mr Burns' thread. Thanks again! [This message has been edited by eviljester (edited 02-22-2005).]

I Think Mom is cool partially because of the way she handles situations. Partly because of her history with the prof. She not my favorite but it wouldnt quite be futurama without her or her products and monopolising company.

It was spelt Cruella DeVil, so there's even less subtlety, but the original book examined the idea that she was the Devil incarnate - she was obsessed with heat, redness and and peppery food. To try and relate this post back to the topic: maybe Mom is supposed to represent the evil of the futuristic world - a miniature dystopia? ------------------ Oh sure, blame the wizards...

Because I like usurping old threads and manipulating them into previously unexplored directions...I'm wondering if Mom (of Mom's Friendly Robot Company) is as old as (or older than) the Professor. ------------------ "I believe we were all glad to leave New Zealand. Wouldn't this have gone into the thread "Oh Mother, Where Art Thou"?... or maybe not.ANYWAY, I don't think she's quite as old. Maybe, ohh, fifteen or twenty years younger. (After all, she doesn't seem to be thinking about being taken to the Near Death Star).

In the simpsons/futurama cross over crisis comic book, mom and mr Burns are like, together. Also, in the world of futurama, the simpsons really was a tv show (a big piece of garbage, mars university, leelas homeworld), so it would make sense that there would be some trace of the simpsons as it is probably one of the most successful cartoons, ever. ------------------

I love MOM! She's so vile and evil - you know when you see her that hijinks will shortly ensue.I think that I must be the only person who immediately knew she was based on MOM from the 1980's movie (which flopped) Dr. Detroit. If the series had lasted longer, I would have loved to seen an ally to our beloved Planet Express crew in the form of Dr. Detroit - the vileness would have been off-the-scale. My favorite scene from Dr. Detroit: "Mom, I'm going to rip your head off and shit down your neck." God, that was so funny. edit: From Wikipedia: Futurama's villainous "Mom" appears to reference the "Mom" in Doctor Detroit, in that her henchmen are all-clad in grey, double breasted, chauffers uniforms, much like the henchmen in Doctor Detroit [This message has been edited by Ralph Snart (edited 05-07-2008).]

Mr. Burns is just kind of insane evil, unlike Mom who is just evil, evil. quote: Originally posted by Ralph Snart: edit: From Wikipedia:Futurama's villainous "Mom" appears to reference the "Mom" in Doctor Detroit, in that her henchmen are all-clad in grey, double breasted, chauffers uniforms, much like the henchmen in Doctor Detroit
Actually I remember from one of the commentaries that the reason her sons are dressed like that is because they're supposed to look like the Imperial officers from Star Wars.

The guy on the commentary may have been right and I know Wikipedia isn't a very reliable source, but I'm going with the Wiki article since I watch Dr. Detroit just a few weeks ago and the henchmen dressed exactly like Mom's sons.

I had got the impression that in those flash-backs to the time where the Professor was working at the Friendly Robot Company, Mom doesn't look significantly younger than Hubert. Especially if she is one to take better care of, and pay more attention to her appearance than he does (to his).------------------ "Margarita is far more evil than Jeremy. Mom doesn't have to worry about the Near-Death Squad Robots - she controls them. And then, even if she didn't control them, she has enough money and power to be able to buy her way out of being taken to the Near-Death Star. Damned robots make me sick to my ass! - Mom can always be counted on saying something funny and vile in the same breath. One day, I want to marry a woman just like her.

It seems improbably to me that Mom's company built all the robots in the galaxy (universe?). In the year 3000 we seem more interstellarly connected, and it seems absurd that other alien races wouldn't have created artificial intelligence as well.... Then again, the sunset squard may be earth's version of euthanizing the elderly, and at any rate you're certainly correct in the assumption that Mom has the power to prevent her own death.
