Are you really asking me that question? *points to avy, then remembers changing it* Woops, never mind. But yes, they do make a good couple. They just have to work around some things.

I would have to agree, perfectly summed up. As much as you want Fry to get together with Leela, you know in terms of a match he's better suited with Amy. After all Fry does n't exactly have ambition or drive, but with Amy he does n't need them because she is loaded. With Leela they would have to balence the books etc *yawn* and you can't exactly see Fry doing that, I mean he keeps his retirement plan in his unwashed sock! And after all Fry and Amy have so much in commen like "stuff an junk....."

Yes I too have to agree with the comments of the naysayers on this one. Much as I love all the shippyness they're just too different. She's smart, bright and hip and he is a "lazy dim bum". However, she does think that although he's an idiot, he is at least a sweet idiot. No, I just can't see it happening anytime soon. Not unless something changes drastically.
There is a hint, he is supposed to be the most "important person in the universe" and so maybe this would have played out to his advantage in the future. She's shown that she's not above being impressed, so who knows maybe one day she would have fallen for the little doofus? But in the immediate future I can't see it.
He really should have stayed with Amy they're better suited to each either but he blew it by acting like an idiot as usual. Why does he want Leela? Probably because he can't have her. If she were to just fall in his arms like Amy did he'd probably have gotten bored pretty quick and moved on.
There is a clue in Alternative Fry/Leela from "The Farnworth Parabox" about their potential relationship: it seemed to me that she was the one who wore the pants in that relationship, she was the one who mentioned that they had plans that night, and later in the restaurant with "our" Fry/Leela it was "other" Leela who did most of the talking, Fry just kind of looking on sweetly. So he was definately not the one in charge of that relationship, which I thought was interesting to say the least.

I think they make a fine couple, though Leela would do better with someone more mature. In that respect, I was very disappointed that she broke it off with Adlai. He was perfect for her.
And I disagree that Leela is high maintenance. To the contrary, she hides inside the shell of a tomboy, and when she does meet a guy she likes, is eager to make the relationship work.
It's clear that Fry is head over heels for Leela. Though we see him with other women, he's never looking for commitment with them.
