appologies if this has been discussed before, if it has, close and point me in the direction.

in space pilot 3000, bender is about to kill himself because he found out that the girders he bends are for suicide booths, therefore feeling guilt, saddness etc for his purpose. note that suicide booths seem to be primarily used by humans (in SP3K anyway). (also note that bender has a desire to kill all humans.)
is his change from a morally sound robot to a hard drinking, hard smoking, hard burping, ugly, ugly sonova simply due to the fact his antenna got caught in the lightbulb in the criminal head museum? it seems his character now is a 180 turn from the guilt-ridden bender robot of the first 15 mins of the show. why would he feel so bad about making suicide booths when, now, he wants to kill all humans?

this also brings into question the whole robots and emotions thing, where bender's emotions (or lack of them) are inconsistent. i haven't listened to all the commentaries, so that may be something that's already answered by x. cohen and the rest. but my main question is about the lightbulb thing where it seems he changes completely, and not just what fry was talking about ("you're full of crap fry" -buzzzzzzz - "you make a pursuasive argument fry" )

this is something fairly obvious, i'll be surprised if i'm the first person to note this.

I've made note of this but have never posted anything about it. I was under the assumption;after Birdbot of IceCatraz, that he reset in Criminal Mode after being shocked by the lightbulb and that completely altered his default mode.

Overly technical thought for a cartoon but it popped into my head while watching it.

I think Bender was annoyed that he was only killing all humans indirectly, and only those who want to be killed at that. Where's the pride in that? It's the difference between destroying your enemies with your bare hands and wearing their scalps as a cloak, and helping build the barrel for a piece of artillery designed to take down Kamikaze pilots.

Well, i think that the lightbulb probably reset his hardrive from normal mode to asshole mode  :D. Pretty much the same thing that Uncle Bogleg said.

PS. Do you reckon bender would have killed himself if he had the chance?

maybe it was just the first episode and the writers werent yet sure what to make of the rampaging robot's personality characteristics yet.

He wanted to kill himself in The Lesser of Two Evils.

I know, i just think that seems very out of character. Bender dosn't seem like the kind of character who would kill himself.

this is sorta off topic but meh, in the bird bot of ice catraz, after being shot he see's leela and his mode of language goes to human. but leelas a mutant. i know mutants  and humans speak the same but would the new mode of language be mutant?

Don't forget that other robots have mistaken her for a human (Fear of a Bot Planet).

How could you not confuse her for a human? Besides the one eye, she looks exactly like a human. Her actions don't seem alien in any way, shape, or form.

Yeah, but there society is ruled by a bunch of incompetent robot leaders! Bender just seems to be much more intellegent than them.

Leela is a mutated human, so Bender's processor is correct when it refers to her as a human.
