I've always like all of the characters that appear(ed)  in futurama but I've also think on a new character.
Who  would it be, what would he/she do.
I probbably say I guy smarter than all of the planet express.
Or maybe a Leela that loves Fry (that would suck)
How your character would be?

^ Another one-liner! Burn!  :p

Maybe another female character, one who is not like Leela or Amy? But would that be fun? Probably not.

Perhaps someone who sits back and watches what happens, with a bag of popcorn. And perhaps they never get referred to, they just sit in the background watching.

How about a female human version of Bender, only less of an attention whore and more evil?

How about a deaf character? The disabled are so underused in TV. We can be funny. Kill all hearing people!  ;) That would actually be hilarious if he/she signed that and everyone just nodded not uderstanding a word he/she said.

I like the idea of a female bender UNIT.  I think it could look like a cross between Bender and Angeleine.  They could do a lot with that, like she could have a secret human/lifeform fetish etc... kinda like a reverse Juliet.  =^.^=  She would actually work hard, and plot harder, only her in-your-face interface would be too similar with Bender's, thus making them a incompatible couple (no pun intended).

I could see someone having a walk-in Fry or Zoidberg shrine in her massive robot closet.

I really like that idea. And Fry could have a fling with her, thus making Leela realize that she lost him to a robot, and creating a very interesting competition between the cyclops and the fembot. And I'm going to shut up now.

I'd like to see Fry try and kiss her and be electrocuted... say "Ow!", and repeat.  -like the cupcake gag from The Simpsons.  I don't think Leela would get too jealous... because she'd know that it can't last.  She'd just be like "riiiiiight... good for you!"

Or maybe she would get jealous, and date a manbot to get back at Fry... who knows... like I said, there's a lot that could happen with that.

i don't think Futurama needs a new character, but if i had to come up with one, not even for an ep but for a fanfic or something, i think i would give leela a daughter. Her maternal instincts have her in a strangle hold, she needs an outlet. then maybe she would stop trying to bond with dangerous animals.

But the fact that she irrationally risks her life and the lives of those around her by bonding with horrible flesh-devouring creatures is a part of Leela's charm!

Hmm not a bad idea. I'd be interested to see how "FemBender" and Bender get on. No wallet would be safe within a km of P.E.! I can see Bender and FemBender competing not only for the attention of the crew, but for bragging rights to who's the better thief.

You wanna call attention to the fact that Futurama is 'only' a TV show?
No thanks. I'm quite happy suspending my disbelief.

What's MST3K? And no I don't want to call attention to him. I just want him sat in the background watching the show.

MST3K = "Mystery Science Theater 3000"
It was a movie parody show for lack of a better term. There was a cast of one human and three (?) robots who would heckle  B-movies all through the program. They were visible in sihllouette (sp?) at the bottom of the screen all through the movie, and would point out errors, plot holes, bad acting, continuity errors, and generally deride the whole flamin' movie from start to finish.
I was never a great fan of the show, so I might not be completely correct.
My point?
I don't believe having a character like you describe really adds anything to the show.
We (the fans) are the ones who 'sit back and watch what happens, with a bag of popcorn'. And we're never referred to, we just watch.
The only time our comments might be referred to are in the DVD commentaries.
Don't get me wrong; I'm all for excercizing one's 'creative muscles' using Futurama, but I don't think this particular idea adds anything to the show.
My opinion only. That and a dollar might get you a cup of coffee....

I made up a character like this fem-bot person once...

I think in order to describe her properly I have to explain her whole history, which might ruin fanfics if I ever wrote them... anyway...

<description>
About 67 years ago, Mom adopted a daughter, because the girl was an engineering genius. The daughter, named Mara, worked at the company, but was also sort of a publicity stunt, so she wasn't really abused or anything... just cursed at and occasionally slapped. When Mara was 19, she was perfecting a robot that imitated humanity almost perfectly--appearance, bodily functions, everything--in secret. She moved into the robot body somehow, possbily because she was dying, and after this she was imprisoned by a rival company, in a vague attempt at blackmail or something. The company was shut down, but Mara remained trapped in a cell for 50 years--not aging because she is now a robot. Then she is rescued/set free by Fry, of all people (for some reason), and he takes her back to Planet Express. No one knows who she is or that she's a robot, although the Professor occasionally thinks he recognizes her. Anyway, Fry falls in love with her. Leela gets jealous without really knowing why, Amy gets jealous because Mara is beautiful without having to excersise or diet. Bender unconsciously knows she is a robot, and falls in love with her, or at least in lust. Since everyone thinks she's a human, Bender just gets cranky and jealous. This goes on until Fry sleeps with her, and something happens that makes him realize she's a robot. Either she tells him, or... I don't know. Then Fry freaks out and tells everyone, Bender is relieved and instantly starts flirting with her, and... I don't know what else.

I call her freaky three ears freak and don't forget the tail child.

Also a totally different character than everyone else would make great contrast.  It should probably be a woman, or fem-bot, cause there is only Leela and Amy.  She should just be totally different than everyone else.

I'd make a kind of computer whiz character that can hack at any time and push the adventures into OVERDRIVE while working at Planet Express, living a life, and getting a salary. His name is Mack.

Mack and Fry fight over Leela sometimes!

A definitely non-human character would be a nice addition.
Sure, they have Zoidberg and Nibbler and Leela, but I'm talking about a really hideous, but smart and still very alien-like looking character. But this Alien should have no function at all, just be around, make a snappy remark now and then...
