Ok then How about this quote from 'Xmas Story'. Fry, Leela, Bender and Tinny Tim are running from Santa, who is, of course, trying to kill them. Farnsworth: "Oh dear, they'll be killed on our doorstep! And there's no trash pickup 'till January 3rd!"

I agree Zoidy!! Anyway without the proffesor there wouldn't BE a planet express! I love how he always says "Good news everybody!" so enthusastically when usualy it's a crapy mission where at least one of the main char's are at a near-death expreince. ^_^

I think that was sort of a nod in the direction of an old gradeschool science class joke that I'm sure everyone has heard: Q: "Which weighs more: a pound of feathers or a pound of lead?" A: "Neither! It's a trick question! They both weigh exactly the same: one pound!" A very similar joke is made in TMLH when Fry attempts to catch the falling Gemerald by hurtling after it. Leela wisely shouts to him, "No, Fry! You can't fall fast enough!" This is true; they will both fall at the same rate and the Gemerald had a head start so he could never overtake it. In TWOF, Fry says that one of Nibbler's "steamers" weighs "as much as a thousand suns!" This is likely an exaggertaion otherwise it would have at least crashed through the street's surface to the Sewers of ONY, if not destroyed the entire planet by plummeting to the Earth's core and causing some sort of implosion. There was another ep where Prof. mumbles some pseudo-scientific gibberish and then tells eveyone, "the words I just spoke made perfect sense." I hit the floor with laughter when I heard that. It was so funny the way they lampponed the typical Sci-Fi plot device of having spurious science save the day. Could someone remind me what ep that was? BTW, I have no idea why this discussion couldn't have been dropped into my "FARNSWORTH PATERNITY RUMOR" thread. Originally posted by Carbito: I just noticed in "Loves labors lost in space" Farnsworth says: Farnsworth: Each pount of dark matter weighs over 10,000 pounds.
I can't believe I only noticed that while watching the episode with subtitles. Has anyone else over looked this or am I the only one?

Firstly, just to be pedantic - it was LTH, not TMLH . Secondly, the episode you're thinking of is "The Honking", where the Professor explains how robots can appear as ghosts. The commentary on the commentary on the joke is equally hilarious . Presumably the Professor's life was less threatened than Fry's. Fry is only two generations removed from Enos (or not, depending on your point of view), whereas the Professor is around 25 generations removed - thus there is far less of Enos' DNA in the Professor than in Fry (making the Professor much less susceptible to changes in the timeline at this point).

Cyberknight already gave the correct answer, but this also reminded me of "Time Keeps On Slipping", where Bubblegum Tate gives his techno-babble explanation why time slips happen at the basketball match. Farnsworth reply: "Yes, I see. Something involving that many big words could easily destabilize times itself." Techno-babble was mocked in "Kif Gets Knocked Up A Notch" too. When Attila the Hun yell to Zapp "don't shoot firestick in spacecanoe, cause explosive decompression!", to which Zapp say "spare me your spaceage technobabble." Even though I love Star Trek, I also love to see it's more annoying elements mocked.

Oh, don't be so horny. It's a lot more appealing and interesting when the (admittedly horny) animators tease you a little and leave the rest up to the imagination. Which they tend to do quite a bit. And since I don't want to get lynched for making a non-Farnsworth post in the Farnsworth thread: The Professor is my favorite mad scientist. He is just so much fun. At first I thought that he was tough to write for, but after experimenting with him a bit while writing my stuff, I've realized that the possibilites are quite endless!
