I can't get on with the message '#futuramachat unable to join channel (address is banned)' Have I been banned? And if so does anyone know why?

If you were using the CGEF client to access the chat, and you're on AOL, try again, apparently they've removed a ban.If anyone does have trouble like that, try downloading a client and connecting. I'd advise XChat or mIRC.

I'm not entirely sure that would matter. Whether you're using Java or a client, you're still connecting to the same server.

There are often bans shoved on *CGEFuser*@*.aol.* (or whatever it is). ------------------

I can't seem to get into EUIRC half the time anymore, either servers give me:
'Closing Link: SixByNine[62.56.3.214] (You are not authorized to connect to this server)'
Or get half way through the MOTD and sit there forever...

Yeah, I think I have all the servers. I usualy start with ham, then cycle through the rest. It could be my shitty connection, or some bannage on people from my ISP. I guess I just wanted to find out if anyone else has had any problems.

They're both the same thing, irc.sick-du.de and irc.doop.org are just links to irc.ham.de.euirc.net..ham is a fan favourite, i usually use .bir during down-time.

I is banned? I wasn't banned last time I visited IIRC. Hostmask would be something at tpgi.com.au.Edit: Logged on from a different host, and found the culprit: quote:

Because - a night or so ago, it was said that anyone with the word "Fry" "Zoid" or "Bend" in thier name are automatically banned. It was tested by current users, and it holds true.
