Alright, this is stupid. If you're going to ban a huge enough IP range to block half of the US you clear it a few hours later. It's been a damn week and I still can't log in. This is as bad as fuckin' IRChat.

this is not IRChat. do you see the difference between banning for political reasons or because of the attacks? euIRC is a big network and i suppose many people like to attack it. it is not possible to ban single person if that person is using ISP that gives him dynamic IP (IP that changes everytime you log in). did you even try emailing them? i don't think so. i know it sucks, but i've been in the similiar situation. i emailed them - they helped me. problem was solved.

A work around solution (which won't let you use your IRC app, but at least will let you chat) is to use a free anonomous browsing service (see here for a list), and log on to the CGEF Java applet - Just a guess, I've no idea if it actually works. Just try another server then. if irc.ber.de.euirc.net tells you that you may not connect, no reason to try again. It won't change. I got a ping of 0.15s and the americans don't complain either. Disconnects and Ping Outs are well within reasonable limits and there are hardly any splits. Efnet sucks noodles regarding services. And Mic got lag to about any net since he is at the end of the world. In any case, no point in saying "could have" since there's no striking problem. I'm having serious lag. ham.de (euircnet) is the only server I can connect to due to the others being locked out (a stupid descision by the opers). cal.us was great while it was up, seeing I have to go 17 (!) hops on a traceroute to ham.de, with a pingtime of 0.4sec (max 56k dialup ping) using IMCP pings and 3.844sec using CTCP pings (about two seconds real lag), just now. Often the lag is much worse, I've seen it often go between 4 - 6 seconds, and even not respond at all. This says to me that the pipe is there but the server isn't fast enough.I get much faster times from other places. I (about 2 weeks ago) got the nice little DSL box which spreads love around my LAN. (256/64kbit) My lag has got worse over time, even when I was on my modem. Off of kruel irc, in the US, I get 2-3 seconds CTCP lag (just 1-1.5 seconds real lag). It'd be nice to goto another network, one where servers are spread everywhere and so all of us, wherever we are, can chat with less lag and overall a nice service. We'll definately have to shop around. Theres so many networks in the IRC network, but going to a medium sized one would be a good idea. Also, when my ADSL was first activated, I couldn't get in. These people go a little nuts on the glines.

i have another great idea: how about you all will stop whinning? we've been through other networks and there are _no_ perfect ones. euIRCnet might not allow all users on all servers, but hey would you rather suffer from network attacks or just use another server? think about it. every network has its problems. big network? spam bots, viruses, attacks. small network? opers abuse, servers problems. we found a network majority is happy with, so be quiet and try another server. if that doesn't work, e-mail staff. no one's going to do anything for you if you won't move your lazy ass.

Ohh, weak, i was hoping i could use my new cool irc client to connect to the channel. It doesn't connect to any of them, do i have to have identd enabled?, because then there's even more trouble, it seems panther doesn't include a identd server or whatever.[This message has been edited by Wolverine (edited 04-04-2004).]

No, euIRC.net are a bunch of ****s who like to stuff around anyone not from Europe. Try irc.ham.de.euirc.net, that seems to be the only one that works for those not in Europe. You have multiple servers, and it'll snow in Alice Springs before I understand why they restrict connections. They also tend to set glines randomly on some isps, email opers at euirc dot net and tell them, see if you can get any glines on your ISP removed. This could also apply to TMC's problem.

I'm from the UK and the one that irc.sick-du.de uses works fine for me, you could try. In a blank IRC window type:/server irc.sick-du.de /join #futuramachat If you want to try using irc.ham.de.euirc.net just put that in above.

I think irc.sick-du.de just redirects to irc.ham.de.euirc.net anyways.

Some of you may have just seen me enter and leave #fc really fast without saying anything three times. For some reason, it's not letting me type anything. I've been able to fix that before with just closing the window and then starting the browser up again, but it wasn't working.
