Just to let you know, the last couple of times I connected to the chat room, my firewall has intercepted and blocked Trojan Horses. If you have connected to the chatroom without protective software, your computer may be compromised. If anyone wants any more info, contact me.

Your firewall is probably nuts

Try using mirc to connect. Margarita's FAQ should help you there.

j w wimpy: I have Norton Firewall and it's paranoid. It always gives alerts when I connect to a mIrc server. I don't think you have to worry about it.

that's why i don't use firewalls like ZoneAlarm. They slown down computer, give false alerts and hates other programs like Apache HTTP server.

I was an IRC virgin. I read Marg's FAQ end to end, and the mIRC FAQ, and one or two IRC FAQs. Thus armed, I got onto irc.bas.ch.euirc.net without drama, using eMule's built-in IRC client. Further deponent sayeth not.

I just found something this evening with euIRC... there seems to be a californian server, so that will be ideal for US, Australian and other places that run into routers in CA before going elsewhere around the globe. Theres currently about four people using it too, and the max connection count is 9... so I think we should give the server a run:

irc.cal.us.euirc.net

EDIT (20031107): It seems this is a very new and not yet publicized server, so its a little flaky.. I had trouble connecting today.

My computer can't seem to connect to chat.lanlos.org so I'm wondering if it's just my piece o' crap mIRC acting up, or something else.

you're not banned. download mIRC or xchat or try other java. you can try to join my channel and then join #fc (link below).

thanks there margie, yet I think it's my java :/

And when I said "banned" I meant it says, "Banned from euirc.net" or simular. It says: "You are banned for 86353530 seconds (Spam Abuse)"

EDIT: I downloaded ShadowIRC and I got the right window open and stuff. So now how do I join #fc? I tried /join futuramachat but didn't get the right channel. This seems like a stupid careless mistake I'm making. Or maybe it's because I'm supposedly "banned" from euIRC for 86353530 seconds.

I've been having trouble accessing it lately, too. I click on the link, and I come to a page that says "#FuturamaChat - login". When I enter my name and click the login button, my nick simply disappears and I can't connect.

people shouldn't spam, no capse abuse, no caps-only name and stuff like that...
