Your browser should attempt to get you an updated version of java RS2 if the applet isn't able to load. If it doesn't.... which appears to be the case after what you said...

Try the java.sun website.

Bender6... the chatroom link is at the bottom of PEEL always. It says Chatroom.

Well, since I tried changing to a different server at the recommendation of some people in the chat room today, I now don't seem to be able to get in at all.
I've tried quite a few servers and I haven't changed any other settings in xchat so I'm at a loss. I'm sure it's something really simple but it's evaded me.
See below for an example:

--- Looking up irc.zur.ch.euirc.net..
--- Connecting to irc.zur.ch.euirc.net (217.26.49.12) port 6667..
--- Connection failed. Error: [336130315] error:1408F10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number
Are you sure this is a SSL capable server and port?

[17:28p] <sick_boy> turn ssl off
[17:29p] <sick_boy> x-chat - serverlist - edit - toggle use ssl
[17:33p] <sick_boy> np - but the menus depend on the version - so - a little bit of searching will be needed
[17:42p] <sick_boy> http://html.chat.euirc.net/ - choose english - choose futuramachat - works anytime - well almost
