I don't know if this was previously done - if it has, link the other one.Basically, where have you seen plots and parodies that Futurama has used? Plot wise:
The "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" idea in 3x11. I've seen this in a Charmed episode ("Brain Drain" ) and I'm pretty sure it was also in a Buffy episode, though I don't watch that show. It was also used in a Fearless book ("Gaia Abducted" ), and was more thoroughly fleshed out. Of the three I've seen, the Futurama one was the funniest while the Fearless one was probably the most serious. [there are lots more of these common-ideas that I recognized, but they're not coming to mind right away] There's probably a ton more parodies. (Al Gore being portrayed both on Futurama and South Park, et al.)

I don't know how much IitM actually parodies One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. It may give a nod or two to the book/film, but that'd be somewhat expected in an episode of a comedy taking place in an insane asylum of sorts.

Raging Bender is the obligatory boxing episode.Actually I'm suprised they never did an episode about a race of some kind. That's one of the biggest cliches.

Well, there was the Phantom Menace pod race-style sewer race in "Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles"...Another cartoon cliche plot they never got around to...the characters switching bodies for some reason. Pretty much every Disney TV cartoon series of the 80's and early 90's did this one at least once.

Good call, Nasty. About the closest they got was what your avatar represents, in "Put Your Head On My Shoulders".This is a scene parody: the NY City hustler scene in "Brannigan, Begin Again". Zapp Brannigan as the John Voight cowboy hustler character...

Yeah, but there was nothing riding on the race and it wasn't particularly integral to the story. Despite the fact that the craft were hovering I'm unconvinced it was pod race-style.Certainly not in the sense that the fleet of ships orbiting the Moon (and several shots thereafter) was a sendup of the beginning of the Battle of Yavin or that the "anti-monument lasers" were a parody of Independence Day weaponry in WAA. "Futurestock" would be a parody of "Wall Street.""War is the H Word"- "Starship Troopers" "The Honking"- "The Howling "and Count Dracula movies "I Dated a Robot" - "Metropolis"- at least where a robot is made to look like a real woman

I've never seen or heard of Fantastic Voyage. Thanks for correcting me on that. "Love and Rocket" obviously has many 2001: A Space Oddessy parodies.

Mulan wasn't allowed to be in the army because she was a girl. So she discuised herself as man to be allowed to fight in the army. In "War is the H-Word" Leela does the same thing.In "I Dated a Robot" they do a parody of the show All in the Family.

Some girl did the same thing during the Civil War. I just cant remember her name. Mars University is also a take on Revenge of the Nerds.

Well, I was actually thnking of the briliant "The Notororious Mrs. Winston" which actually validates what PhilipJ.FryFan wrote... There were many ladies in the U.S. Civil War who disguised themselves as men to be fighting alongside the guys they love (Leela Style in a sort of way). They were not found out until the end that they were women. The book "The Notorious Mrs. Winston" does the Lee Lemon line proud in that the heroine( a Leela-like tomboy) takes part in the Civil War as an abolitionist and as as a soldier to be with the guy she loves. It's a cool book in that it looks at the Civil War from the view of the women who pretended to be guys to fight alongside their dudes... but also the war as it was fought in the Midwest, a vital part of the U.S Civil War that is still not yet recognized.
