What's the music during Lars and Leela's bubble ride? Original music by Chris Tyng or something else? Thanks.

Sorry, no answer from me Silly Sailor. I'm hoping this will morph into a general references thread or and admin will direct us to one.

I'd like to know that too and I have the same question for the Professor's "Thug Life" tattoo scene.

There's also that reggae-ish sounding song that plays when Fry is making love to the whale thing.

It must have been in the Circuit City version. Take that, Best Buy exclusive!

does nyone know the name of the somg from the bit after "my hair, my larynx, I'm lars."? The one that goes shaking hands with charles de gaulle?
I love that bit. It's so sweet.

The song during the Lars transformation scene is called 30 Century Man and it's by Scott Walker

Ah, that explains why Charles de Gaulle is featured so prominently in the movie.  I've never heard of Scott Walker before but he has apparently been around for a long time and I must have heard this song before.  When I first heard it in BBS I thought they had scored a great original recording for the movie, but then I vaguely recalled the "shaking hands with Charles de Gaulle" line.

The earliest reference I can find for that song is 2004; could he possibly have been influenced by Futurama? I would not think it likely. A 60 year old in the United Kingdom being a fan of Futurama?  Preposterous!

Update: here is the text from The Jigsaw Seen's website regarding this:
Futurama DVD Top 10 At Amazon!
Nov. 27, 2007
“Futurama The Movie: Bender’s Big Score” featuring The Jigsaw Seen’s
recording of Scott Walker’s “30 Century Man” was released on DVD today
by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and is already in the Top 10
best-selling DVDs chart on Amazon.com.

The film, featuring appearances by Al Gore, Sarah Silverman, Coolio and
Mark Hamill is based on the Emmy-winning Fox television series.

The Jigsaw Seen are also mentioned in the DVD commentary with producer
David X. Cohen, “The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening and the cast
discussing how “30 Century Man” inspired one of the key scenes in the
film.

“30 Century Man” was first released on The Jigsaw Seen’s 2002 album
“Songs Mama Used To Sing” (also mentioned in the DVD commentary) and is
among the band’s best-selling downloads.

They even have a picture of the PE crew...So that wraps up that one.

Now how about those other music references?

Their news section is pretty funny. They dedicated a whole news item about one copy of their album selling on eBay for $22.

Interesting.  ^^

I want this song.

If anyone has it, please let me know.

I'd also really like to have the version of the Futurama theme, which played during the space battle in the movie!!  ^_^

I know people have been saying that it's probably from the Futurama game.  However, I think the version of the Futurama theme that plays in the movie is different.

I've downloaded the game version and listened to it.  And I've watched that battle scene from the movie several times.  The Futurama theme which plays during the battle scene is completely instrumental, and doesn't have the characters randomly saying stuff in the song (like the game's version does).

Well, that's horseshit. I hate such marketing ploys. It, like shop-exclusive bonus discs, forces completionists (such as me) to buy several copies of the same media, which I can't afford in the long run. Common decency shouldn't allow it.

I'm listening to the soundtrack and the scene in question at the same time?

How is this possible, you ask?  By judicious use of the pause button and switching headphones between my Zune and my laptop, that's how!

Anyway, the music I'm talking about starts as Hermes is wired into the main battle grid.  The song itself seems to be a mishmash of at least two different songs from the game soundtrack - specifically "Frontend" and "Credits."  Frontend has the very beginning of the movie track("frontend edition!" ) and "future future future" bits.  Credits has the electronic 8-bit-ish bits (you'll recognize it when you hear it, it's hard to explain).

So no, it's not quite a straight lift from the game, but it's definitely in the game and the movie.

Also, the battle scene is definitely not completely instrumental, especially not if you mean "orchestral."  We know for a fact that the full orchestra was ditched for budgetary concerns.

Executive summary: listen to the game tracks entitled "Frontend" and "Credits," then listen to the space battle scene after Hermes gets wired in.

Just to clarify to Pikka: I was kidding about there being a Circuit City version, although Best Buy does include an exclusive preview disc for the next DVD movie.

Maybe I'm just not enough of a completionist, but I don't think it's too big of a deal. The animatics are cool, and definitely worth getting if it's convenient to buy the movie at Best Buy. But it's not really a "must have". (Although I bought mine at Walmart without realizing that Best Buy had any kind of exclusive, so I might just be rationalizing to myself)

Speaking of the game soundtrack. Does a better quality version of it exist? The one from KHInsider is of a really low bittrate and sounds very muddy. I don't see a retail release of it anywhere either.

That's because there isn't one.

I have the KHInsider version, but I found this one today.  No clue if it's any better.

Oh wow, that one is even worse. It's too bad that I can't find my PS2, otherwise I could make a high quality rip of it. (I'm assuming they got this from a sound test menu?)

Ed: I think I found a way to rip it. Hold on.
Ed2: Ah. The reason none of the rips sound that great is because the audio is sampled at 22050 Hz in the game. For comparison music CDs are sampled at 44100 Hz.

I thought I remember hearing that the bubble scene music was "an original pop compilation".  I think I heard that in the BBS commentary, but it might have been one of the interviews with David X. Cohen.
