Will they be releasing the new movie on either of these formats?  As a PS3 owner I'm really hoping for Bluray.

Currently, we do not know whether or not the movie(s) will be released on HD-DVD or Blu-ray. I searched through all of the News and Speculation threads (both of which are currently on the front page of G.D.) and there was no mention of it being released on either format. I also looked on Wikipedia, Amazon, and Fox Store, and none of these sites list an HD-DVD or Blu-ray release for the movie(s). The only mentions of format I found were to say the movie(s) will be released on DVD in widescreen in Region 1 (North America). We currently do not know when the movie(s) will be released outside of Region 1.

Hopefully I've been helpful. If you need anymore info, check the News thread (which, as said earlier, is on the front page of G.D.).  Also, welcome to PEEL, JoeyJoeJo. Here's a link to our FAQ. Read it. Live it. Love it.

i found this look at the 4th paragraph,

As you probably know, futurama was yet another victim of Fox's "Good Shows get Canceled" attitude, and vanished from the airwaves a few years back. Earlier this year the rights were purchased by Comedy Central (or so I've been told), with hopes of continuing the series (in some form or another).

Well, today I needed a pick-me-up so I wiki'ed it to check on the progress. Apparently there is a all new straight to DVD film due out in November, called, of course "Bender's Big Score". Check it out!

Futurama: Bender's Big Score! is the proposed name of the straight-to-DVD movie based on the animated series Futurama to be released on November 27, 2007.[1] The movie is written by Ken Keeler and David X. Cohen, directed by Dwayne Carey-Hill, and is set to include the Nibblonians, Seymour, Phil the C.H.U.D., Barbados Slim (the limboer who always defeats Hermes), Morbo, Robot Santa, the God space entity, Al Gore, and Zapp Brannigan.[2]

The film will be released in wide screen format and be available on DVD as well as a yet unspecified high-definition format.[1] Returning guests will include Al Gore as himself, Sarah Silverman, who has voiced Michelle, and Coolio, who voiced Kwanzaa-bot."

I've heard that there are a ton of unaired episodes floating around, lets hope we see them...sometime...

Videocassette?

You would take the rich tapestry, gorge-mous images, fluid animation, interesting plotlines, and compelling characters that is Futurama, and willingly squander it in a low-resolution, low fidelity medium such as VIDEOCASSETTE?

Shame upon you, Xanfor!

At least hold out for 16mm film!

  :laff:

I almost couldn't do that with a straight face...

If the movie is released on DVD, I don't see why it wouldn't be released on BluRay and HD DVD as well.  There's always hope.

I don't mean to sound primitive, and just out of curiousity but will the movie also be available on VHS?

I'm sorry: Did I not make a strong enough hint?
VHS is an older, inferior format, mostly popular with a demographic outside the Futurama audience.
In other words, "Not flamin' likely."   ;)
