The DVD movies are coming out in 2007, and new episodes are coming in 2008.  What could be better?  However, it would be cool if the DVD movies shows what happened in the past five years with the characters.  With the new fanbase Futurama has, maybe fans would not move on once the new movies and episodes arrive.

Does anyone know what date next year the movies will be out?  I assume maybe next Christmas.

I'm guessing they'll do a thing like they did with the Simpsons Movie at Comic Con this year for Futurama next year.

I'd also like backstories of other characters, and a movie will likely talk about what happened in the gap.

I assumed that when Billy West said, "I know they got the voice people," he was indicating the entire cast of the PE crew (and... Tress MacNeille) would be returning, including Lauren Tom and Phil LaMarr.

But I'd like to know of some of the less regular voice actors (Dawnn Lewis, Phil Hendrie, Tom Kenny, etc) are going to show up at all this season/in the movies.

The professor walked into the lounge with good news. As usual, the crew was sitting there, watching the TV. He squinted at the oddly-shaped antenna. Oh well, as long as it did it's job. Not that it's job was very exciting anymore, but then again, that was about to change. In fact, that was due to the aforementioned good news.

“Good news, everyone!”

Everyone, against their best wishes, turned to look at him.

“We're back!”

This pronouncement was followed by silence. And more silence. Then Bender burst out laughing.

“Ohhh, this is rich! FOX actually bringing us back? Ha, ha, ha! Face it, we're history. We were a good show, see.”

“No, no, it's true!” cried Farnsworth excitedly, “We are back! In fact, not only will we be doing over thirteen new episodes, but also four direct to DVD movies!”

“Direct to DVD? You mean I'll have to share shelf space with Kenny!?! If only I could understand him, I sure he'd be the only person who could ever beat me in the foulmouth department!”

Leela glanced at Bender warily. “Calm down, Bender. At least we'll be back in some form. Who's providing the funding, anyway?”

“Oh, FOX is funding the movies. But Comedy Central has taken to the new episodes, and if we're lucky, Matt and David's ultimate story arc will finally be brought to it's end!”

Fry hoped this meant what he thought it meant. Bender muttered something about killing Kenny once and for all.

“And what is Matt and David's ultimate story arc?” Fry asked. He chided himself mentally. Someday he would remember to 'axe'. Now, what did 'mentally' mean?

Bender decided to interject his idea. “I know,”, he interjected, “It should be all about me!”

“And why?” axed Leela.

“Hey, did you see that interview they did not too long ago? They said 'Bender will be featured prominently'.”

“So that could mean they'll just put you on a plaque and hang it over the television.”

Fry laughed so hard that Slurm sprayed out of his nose, which was odd, because he was drinking a beer.

“So Leela,” he finally axed, “What subplots do you think the arc should conclude?”

Leela opened her mouth to reply something along the lines of something she would say, but Farnsworth interrupted.

“Now now, don't you all worry about the episodes. The big guys' have got them all sorted out. The big thing is the movies! You see, they've got scripts and they're not going to let us have them to rehearse until sometime next year!”

Leela looked smug. “Well, I bet they'll contain my compensation.” she said.

“What are you jabbering about now?” exclaimed Bender, having just explained to Fry his plan for Kenny's assassination.

“You're... You're gonna kill Kenny?”

“You bastard!”

Leela ignored everyone's attempted digression. “Now see here. You two have done guest work on 'The Simpsons'. What have I done? I've sat here and been shunned by society.”

“Oh hoo,” wheezed the professor, “you haven't seen the Turanga Pages, oh my...”

“Hey, that 'Simpsons' gig was the worst job I've ever had! I had an allergic reaction to the makeup, and we had to shoot the scene almost as many times as they had to dump tribbles on William Shatner!”

“How many times was that?”

“I don't know. What do I look like, a PEELer?”

“Yeah, makeup, that's your boring story. Do you know how long it took me to reassemble myself after my appearance? They didn't even help. They just left me on the side of the road.”

“At least they did it in one take.”

“True.”

“Oh, you guys are hopeless!” sighed Leela. “I'm going to prepare for my big break...”

“Me too!” said Bender, who quickly removed himself from his alter-ego (the couch) and swiftly left the room. Leela followed him, leaving Fry and the professor alone together. Farnsworth glanced over at Fry. If only he knew what was going on in the attic...

Meanwhile, in the attic, a large number of heads were gathered together for an emergency conference.

“Very well, very well... Down to business. In order to solve this convention's problem, we have...” Matt sighed. “Dr. Zoidberg.”

“Hello. This will all be very exciting, I can tell. Oh, I am so excited!”

If the heads that had gathered could have covered their ears, they would would have done so.

Cohen took over the announcement from Mr. Groening while Matt attempted to draw a large cage around Zoidberg using a pencil in his teeth. Zoidberg, always willing to help, took the pencil away from him and completed the drawing himself.

“Aww...”

“Also here to help us with our puzzling dilemma,” announced David happily, “we have acting's top three fictional romantic couples, including David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston!”

Polite applause.

“Hi!”

“What up?”

“We also have Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry...”

More polite applause.

“Hell-o!”

“I will not say anything, as it will inevitably fall flat.”

“And finally, Billy West and Katey Sagal.”

Roaring applause.

And so the countdown to the final episodes began...

No, our reliable source (Ralph Snart) tells us that the last episode will settle the 'Ship (aka, Fry and Leela). As for when the movies are coming out, all I know is that the advertising blitz will start next year.

Leela has a sex change operation?

Sure, futz gets to post stuff like that, while I can post an entire fic on this thread and no one pays any attention...

They should do what 'Firefly' did and put the characters on the far edges of the screen, so the networks will have no choice. 

Will all of the original voice actors/actresses be back?  How about writers, directors, etc.?

Anyone know?

I can't Wait!

I don't want to read such potentially spoilerific content, but the title on its own has me a tad concerned.  But that's mostly because I'm not a huge Bender fan....

Did you find that article on Ain't It Cool, or is it from somewhere else?

Making return visits are: the Nibblonians, Seymour, Barbados Slim, Morbo, Santa Bot, the "God" space entity (probably not for the last time), Al Gore, and yes, sexlexia sufferer Zapp Brannigan (although all too briefly). Not to mention space battles, songs, and even a little time travel.

   

All my confidence in the truthiness of this "spoiler" just went down the drain.

After the total downer that was Xanfor's quote, 1BDI got me back on my feet again. Ralph is the only person I'm going to listen to for leak reports. He doesn't make me cry like a school girl.

I noticed the parallel to the video game, too, now that you mention it.  It sounds like they just took a whole bunch of random facts and plot pieces from random spots throughout the series and threw them together to create one crappy summary.

Their structure comment throws me off, too.  Since when is TKoS "structurally" similar to LotF?  I'm not even sure I understand what they're trying to insinuate there.

Can someone clear up a point for me?  Is the fifth season going to be new episodes, or just the DVD movies chopped up into bite-size pieces?

I somewaht agree completely with Otis P Jivefunk. The show should return with some good humour just like they did in season 1 and 2. Then later add elements from season 3 and 4.

Well, I just read the 'Ain't it cool'; there may be some bits of truth to it, but asked yourself - with all the secrecy that's surrounding the renewed series, with the fact that as of just two weeks ago the scripts for the movies were taking massive rewrites - just how did somebody get the script for something that's at least a year from being released?

The DVD's may be written in a continuing format that allows them to be shown as episodes with a 'to be continued... at the end, but some of it gels with what I've heard, but some of it soynds really left field.

Then again, the 'leaked' script may be disinformation to create a 'buzz'

I agree that it’s way too early in the process to get reliable details.
It may be ‘dummy’ information released to get a buzz going.
I must admit, reading the article did not fill me with a warm and fuzzy feeling – BUT…

If one were to summarize their favorite episode(s) in like manner, that is with neither spoilers nor detail, the results would be the same; IE. No warm and fuzzies either.

In other words, get comfortable; we have a wait... 
Having said that, I'm every bit as impatient as the next fan...
