well, I guess that answers it once and for all then.  16 episodes, not 13...  That makes alot more sense considering they're going to be split into four movies.

So 4 eps equals one movie, and one movie equals about 88 mins give or take. Good news everyone!...

OK, so it's not really news, and I wouldn't rely on it to be exactly correct but hey, every little confirmation of the dream is welcome.

It also says that she just gave birth to another child.  Katey's over 50 years old - that's amazing.

More delicious news:
 http://www.rottentomatoes.com/news/comments/?entryid=397361

The movies will be cut up into new episodes, but the episodes will have new material cut into them. Sounds like a clever ploy to sell two sets of DVDs...

^ Hmmm, I'm not so sure I like the sound of that. I mean, I'll take what I can get, of course. But, whatever it is, it should just be that.

I think I'd prefer to have it just be new episodes, personally.

...What?

Well, I guess I can understand that.  I mean, the FG movie had to go through some editing before it was split and broadcasted on the F*X network.  Something as complex as the Futurama movies are probably going to need some fine tuning if each film is going to be divided four ways.

That said, I really wasn't planning on buying two different DVD sets.    :hmpf: I hope the additions are just little blurbs at the beginning and end of each episode, like Nibbler jumping in to explain what happened previously.

Hmm.. it'll be interesting to see whether they manage to successfully produce something that works both as individual episodes and as a movie.

It works for stuff like Lost, but I have no idea how they're going to be able to pull it off for Futurama. Wonder if we're going to be seeing lengthy "Previously, on Futurama..." bits at the beginning?

Yes, a good one indeed.  Great to hear from the "mogul" himself.  I wish they had asked if C.C. had shown any interest in acquiring more than one season and what MG himself thought about Fry's chances with the "cyclops girl".

We'll get more drips and rabs of info as time goes by.  By the end of summer we'll be getting some teasers along with short synopsis, then by fall we'll be seeing Katey, Billy, John, Matt, DXC, et al on the talk circuit.

The thing that surprises me is that they were able to score Katey again.  It's not like she needs the work - she's everywhere - Lost, The Shield, Boston Legal, etc.  And she's married to the producer of The Shield.  I know she's made the statement that the Leela character is close to her heart, but I'm still surprised that she's doing the role again.

Does anyone know if Beezlebot is making a comeback? It'd be a complete waste to have him in just the two episodes

You know, I kinda wished thast they'd make four moives and new episodes, but not out of the same thing... Though once they do, it'll be interesting to see the alternate things that happen when writing them as separate episodes.

Hey, I have an idea! If they do the entire films in sock puppets, can we have them sooner?

Capital idea, but if they use the voice actors they'll be limited to two Billy West characters at one time.

Xanfor!  I thought that you had died.  You disappeared without so much as a kiss or an "I'll respect you in the morning".

Good to see you back.

Or they could just release it as an audio book...

Is this thing still an '08 release or is it Christmas? I'm so confused.

Of course we can....but I think it'd would not be the Futurama ways... Matt Groening would only approve if extremely drunk...like you. Welcome back. (Yes, I know you're actually not drunk... at the moment)

How is the continuity supposed to work sense when there is a scene say in the middle of the episode with two alternate endings? If they did this with the pilot episode they'd be stuck in a never ending tautology in episodes such as the brain spawn one and TWOF

^ I dont there'll be any scenes with alternate endings.  I'm guessing the plan is more to break the movie up into four parts and then add a bit of material to the beginning of each part to explain what happened in the part before it.

The question I have is if these are released as DVD movies first, and then broadcast with extra scenes, will these new versions with extra scenes be released after they have aired? Although even if they are, the problem will be essentially you'll be buying all the same 4 movies worth of material over again for the sake of a few extra scenes here and there. On the other hand I don't want to not own every piece of Futurama animation, could be a problematic dilema that one...

Then you already know the answer, right? $$$
Oh how well the entertainment execs know us. I feel the same way. If the second dvd set has even a tiny iota of additional material, I'll be snapping it up. (Tiny Iota, now that guy could really play!)

^ No one knows yet when any of the new stuff will come out here or anywhere. Some are projecting end of this year for the dvd movie version and some say nothing until well into '08, but who knows.
